WWE’s PPV Extreme Rules will feature a match between Dolph Ziggler and Heel Sheamus in a bout billed as a “Kiss My Arse Match, with the loser presumably kissing the other guys ass. Is Darren Young working for creative now? This match leaves nothing to the viewers imagination. In the years gone by we wrestling fans have been subdued to some of the most bizzare and wierd stipulation type matches known. Whether you watched WCW or WWF in the past or todays product WWE/TNA, we have all suffered through the pain at watching atleast one of these dire matches. The matches have no meanings, one could only speculate as to whether they where thought up whilst either intoxicated or after spending a whole day smoking the good stuff with Rob Van Dam.

Today we look back at some of the worst gimmick match stipulations ever.

#10  Dixieland Match (TNA)

A match named after TNA president Dixie Carter. TNA’s experimental Dixieland Match was never going to be a success. Magnus fought Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship in a hybrid cage and ladder match. The two not only waited for each other to start fighting outside of the cage, which had no bearing on the outcome of the match, but actually looked at each other and nodded before deciding to move up the ramp for the ladder portion of the evening. The preperation for this match was null and void. The ladder climbing only lasted about two minutes, including interference from TNA President Dixie Carter and her Chief of Staff, Rockstar Spud, so after Hardy was shoved off of the ladder, Magnus climbed the ladder and grabbed the title in anticlimactic fashion.

#9. Punjabi Prison Match (WWE)

The wood-like bamboo used in the Punjabi Prison Match is probably one of the worst concepts thought up. The match was fought inside two differently sized cages that could be opened for a 60 second time period, and if all four sides were padlocked, there would be spikes jutting out in spots. Similar to the Dixieland format, there were too many elements enclosed in the match, as there was a cage inside a cage which led to visual challenges for the viewer. The takeaway from this is that the match was not better than a Cage Match, harder to see into the structure than a Hell in a Cell Match, and was literally a toy of an idea, as families could purchase the Punjabi Prison Playset, creating a makeshift structure that capitalized on the circus-like quality of the bamboo-inspired cage match. This match stipulation will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

#8 Child Custody Ladder Match (WWE)

The title of this match tells the end of a twisted story, as Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio had a grueling ladder match with the documentation guaranteeing the custody of a child named Dominick hanging in the balance above it. The match featured a high-flying arsenal of moves, several memorable moments, and many uncomfortable camera cuts to the worried young boy in the audience.

How could such a stipulation come to be in the first place, or how could the creative team develop this storyline? It came from a love triangle that involved Guerrero and Rey’s wife from years before, allegedly culminating in the birth of Dominick, but the former gave up his son after a time and pretended that he was actually Mysterio’s child. The Latino Heat Superstar read raunchy bedtime stories in the presence of Mysterio, his wife, and in one case, Dominick before Rey had enough and opted to fight for custody of Dominick in this way.“Rey Mysterio wins custody of his son!” Never before and never again.

#7 Shark Cage Match (WCW)

Yes ladies and gentlemen “the Shark Cage match! No, the attraction is not a shark. It’s a cage. Instead of using the entire ring to their advantage, the wrestlers have the misfortune of being placed into this tiny space.
Trying to make a match out of this predicament must be insanely difficult, one of the worst stipulations ever causes a few yawns.

#6 Kiss My Foot Match (WWF)

Simular to the Kiss My Arse stipulation, this match might be appealing to someone with a foot fetish, but to most, it’s as gross and, perhaps more importantly, as stupid as it sounds.

Whoever came up with the idea of having the loser of a match kiss his opponent’s foot may want to have his head examined, but hey, at least it lead to that memorable match between Bret Hart and Jerry Lawler. This match has been repeated since, wierd.

#5 Tuxedo or Evening Gowns Match

This match is for homosexuals and I ain’t one of them. Where’s the bras and panties match? They’re the best ones, plus it’s fun to look at sexy divas in bras and panties.

#4 Thundercage (WCW)

This big clash between Big Van Vader, Barry Windham, and others seemed like a colossal collision, but ended up being a tame match where the lack of a roof created an odd trapezoidal opening and the lights beamed into the ring, blocking visibility for viewers and audience members alike. The match ended with a normal pinfall in the middle of the ring, without any tag team interference or challenge, and the cage invaders hit finishers on their prey, which has been seen and done dozens of times in these enclosed structures, ending the night with a blunder of a cage match.

#3 Kennel From Hell Match (WWE)

Surrounded by fierce rottweilers and large dogs, all enclosed within a Hell in a Cell. However, while the human element often has to be taken into account, the canine element took the cake in this one, as the dogs proved to be more like pampered, pooping pooches than gladiatorial guard dogs.

The storyline involving Al Snow and Big Boss Man, who had and ate Snows pet dog for dinner leading him to propose this match of Boss Man having to deal with his ferocious adversaries; however, once Boss Man ended up out of the cage, he needed to escape the cell to win, and the dogs were interested in peeing on the floor and getting a bit too close to one another, creating a smelly and uncomfortable situation for all involved.
Snow won the match and used his mannnequin head, cleverly named “Head,” and escaped the cage, but the dogs proved to be a non-factor in the physicality itself. Numerous people and lists of infamous events and moments deem this to be number one but there lies one far worse outcome and idea that no one saw coming.

#2 Diaper’ Cry Baby Match (WWF)

According to Vince Mcmahon this type of match was a ratings booster. The loser of the cry baby match is placed in a diaper, complete with a bottle and everything.
I’m pretty sure Vince McMahon called it at one point “a tribute to babies everywhere.”In this contest, the lucky person who got the diaper placed on him was the 123 Kid, who is better known as X-Pac in the WWE.

Even better is, he got up after losing and thought he won, only to have the Million Dollar Man tell him that he is currently in a grown man-sized diaper.
We have not seen a cry baby match in quite some time, but I wouldn’t put anything past the PG era of the WWE these days. X Pac was forced to wear a diaper andhave baby powder smeared on him. Why? No one knows.

#1 Object on a Pole Match (WCW)

On a Pole match, otherwise known as the “Russo Special” have existed long before Russo decided to have them every few weeks on television, it just seems that, over the years, this type of match ends up as a horrible mess.Back in the day, there were a couple of these matches that actually were not so bad. For some reason, as they developed, the objects got weirder and the matches got worse.

Among the various objects that have been placed on the pole in the corner of the ring. Viagra on a pole. Buff Bagwell’s momma Judy Bagwell on a pole. In her case a forklift (she weighed a couple of pounds) You name it, they stuck it on a pole. By far the worst gimmick match stipultation in pro wrestling history.
