Coming off the back of a decent PPV in Hell In A Cell, WWE fans and staff alike collectively turn their attention to the upcoming event, Survivor Series. With last year’s addition of the show so good, it’ll take something special to top it. With this year’s main event set as Seth Rollins v Roman Reigns, there is a small buzz generating round the clash of the two former Shield members. However, one person who may feel a bit less enthusiastic towards the main event is Dean Ambrose. Whilst he looks on course to face Kevin Owens at the event for the IC title, one has to wonder why WWE hasn’t capitalised on Ambrose’s ability as well as the two superstars he came through the ranks with.

Ambrose is one of the most popular characters on the current roaster. He’s managed to win over a lot of fans with his edgy character traits and diverse in ring ability, with all the tools to be a top player, it’s hard to imagine why Ambrose has been held back from being able to burst into the main event scene.

The character of Dean Ambrose himself is great, a crazy lunatic willing to go to hell and back to beat his rivals and hurt them along the way if a fresh outlook for a babyface character, especially in a roster packed with superhero like good guys. The lunatic is a character you can sympathize with after being turned on by a man he trusted in Rollins and is universally loved across the WWE universe. Whilst he may not be the in ring technician Seth Rollins is, or have the ‘look’ like golden boy Reigns he still has more than enough ability to be a strong main event competitor.

With all that said, it isn’t completely bad for Ambrose. He has had a few main event sparks over the course of the year. Pursing a long winded feud with Rollins back in 2014, main event numerous PPV’s was a highlight for Ambrose, as well as moving onto a feud with Bray Wyatt shortly after. However, despite being in both them matches, he never picked up a win over his foes at the PPV matches. In fact, the closest him came was earlier this year, when he pinned Rollins for the WWE Championship, only to have to steal the title after the decision was overturned.

On the other hand, Ambrose never quite cemented his stay at the top of the card, and whilst you can argue that a competitor cannot stay there forever, unless a heel turn is on the horizon a return to the top seems unlikely. Hopefully, one day we can see Ambrose capture the world title and become a main player in the future, but as it stand it looks like we may see the Lunatic Fringe chasing the IC and US title for the foreseeable future.

I understand many people will see me referring to Dean Ambrose as misused as controversial, next edition will feature a man there’s no doubt about him being misused; Cesaro
