Adrian Neville as Mighty Mouse? You Got to be Sh*tting Me!

So the rumor is that WWE creative is tinkering with debuting Adrian Neville on the main roster as a masked “Mighty Mouse” character. As much as this sounds like a joke, there were rumors years ago that WWE was going to have an “Under Dog” gimmick on the roster, these rumors were confirmed by Al Snow. I have no doubt that WWE is seriously considering this gimmick for Neville.

I’ll admit he does kind of look like a mouse, but I think the idea is absolutely ridiculous and will fail to accomplish what WWE hopes it will do, and will ruin Neville’s future in the process. The writers are hoping it will bring in more children fans for their pathetic PG era. It won’t, these cartoonish type characters that are geared towards children always fail.

Doink the Clown is the one gimmick that stands out. Doink never made a dime for the company. Yes kids cheered for him, but they were not begging their parents to bring them to live events to see Doink. I was 9 when Doink became a face for WWE, and 10 when he brought in Dink. Not once did I turn on the t.v. to see him, I was a fan of The Undertaker, and my brother who was 2 years younger cheered for Bret Hart. Children do not care about these cartoonish gimmicks, the writers really have no clue what they are doing anymore.

How much money has Hornswoggle made the company? How many t-shirts has he sold? How many people took their kids to the show, just to see him?  You could probably count all of these on one hand. Kids may like these gimmicks, but they are turning on the t.v. to see stars like John Cena and Daniel Bryan, and buying their shirts. If a kid is watching wrestling it’s because they like wrestling, not because of the cheesy gimmicks. Mighty Mouse was a popular cartoon, and I watched it as a child, but it was a 30 minute show, completely about him, I wouldn’t have watched a 2 hour show to maybe see him for 5 to 6 mins. Not to mention that most children are not even able to watch the show live, they have to watch it on DVR the next day. I didn’t watch a live Raw, until 1998. So WWE would just be wasting air time for a character that will not draw a dime, and turn off adult fans from the segments and product, just so children can fast forward to his segment the next morning.

WWE needs to bring in new fans and this crap will not do it, there’s more of a chance that they lose fans with the ideas they’ve been bringing out. This is supposed to be the “Reality Era”, so somebody please explain to me why they have a Bunny, a midget bull, and possibly a super hero mouse on the show. The writers have completely lost touch with the product. These gimmicks have never worked, and never will. Gimmicks that work are ones that are believable. Bray Wyatt is a believable gimmick, that works, a ballroom dancer turned wrestler does not.

If this gimmick comes to life, than just go ahead and bury Neville’s career right now. There is no coming back from this, I can’t name one wrestler that became a star after he was saddled with a cartoonish child friendly gimmick. Plus when it fails, WWE was of course blame the worker, and feed us some BS that he didn’t grab the brass ring. Neville is a talented worker, and should be a star on the main roster. But since the writers have no clue what the hell they’re doing, and probably don’t even watch NXT they just see a small man, with a foreign accent. So he’s either a foreign heel, and that would take away heat from Rusev, or a masked mouse. The WWE needs to start living by Michael P.S. Hayes’ motto, “If creative has nothing for the worker, then fire the writers not the worker”. If this s*it reaches television, then I’m done with WWE. They will never see another cent from me. Do you know what I could buy for $9.99 instead of this garbage?

I hope everyone had a good Christmas, and I wish you a happy New Year. Feel free to add me on facebook.
