“Exclusive” Indy Circuit Spotlight: Catching Up With Sera Feeny

Sera Feeny is an independent wrestler who has wrestled for many different promotions over the years. She made her in ring debut on August 28th 2010 as she took on Brittany Force at LVW in Allentown, PA.

Feeny is known for being one of the businesses hardest workers inside and outside of the wrestling ring. This reputation has solidified her place in the industry and helped her form a friendly following called the #FeenyArmy. She has aspirations to travel all over the world to wrestle, and hopes to inspire others to chase their dreams.

We originally spoke to her earlier in the year and learned a lot about her background and story. She has graciously accepted my invitation to come back on to be the first interview of my “Catching Up” segment and elaborate more on her career.

What new and exciting things have been going on since we last talked?

Hey Tony. Things have been going great! I have been staying busy, traveling to new towns, and my favorite part… meeting new fans! Also, Team FNF is opening a new promotion soon here in Pittsburgh called Code Red Wrestling! We look forward to the Code Red Alliance growing with us on this journey! (If you’d like to follow Code Red Wrestling on Facebook go towww.Facebook.com/CodeRedWrestling)

What has been your toughest match to date?

My toughest match to date would have to be my match from 1CW in Delaware when I faced Kacee Carlisle for the 1CW women’s championship. Kacee and I gave each other everything we had, and unfortunately in that match Kacee remained champion.

Who would you say is your biggest rival?

I have had some of my best matches with Kacee Carlisle, however, I would say my biggest rival of all time would have to be Jessie Belle. For about a year Jessie and I took each other to our limits. Jessie and I are so different, so I definitely found myself breaking out of my comfort zone when I was on a show with her. All and all though, I became a better wrestler because of it.

What is something your wrestling fans wouldn’t believe about you if you told them?

That is a tough one as my Feeny Army knows me pretty well… I would have to say maybe they don’t know that I am still in school working to obtain my MBA, or that I played almost every school sport imaginable growing up (except football, swim and wrestling).

Was there ever a time along your journey when you thought wrestling would never amount to anything but a dream?

I will say this, for those who are considering becoming professionals in this business, you must have thick skin. Wrestling can be like a roller coaster ride; you will have good days and you will have bad days. Most importantly you can’t worry about what others say about you. You have to keep your chin up and your mind focused on achieving your goals. Surround yourself with a good team, and know who you can trust. Professional wrestling is not an easy sport to be a part of. However, if you are like me you won’t let anyone stop you from chasing your dreams! Also, make sure you enjoy every second of it!

You just celebrated your 5 Year Anniversary as a professional wrestler, any regrets?

Well… When you live life looking back and thinking about how much you would change or do differently it keeps you distracted from what matters today. Sure, we all have things we wished were different. However, for me I live for today and I remain focused on being better tomorrow. Some doors close, but there will always be new doors that open. Live, learn, and keep going!

What are your thoughts about the Diva Revolution in the WWE?

I couldn’t be more happy and excited about the Diva’s revolution in the WWE, and I have probably never enjoyed watching the women’s division more than I do today! These women are absolutely killing it in the ring, day in and day out. They are definitely raising the bar for women all around the world. Those women are beautiful, strong, and inspiring! They are also some of the (if not the) hardest working women around today. Awesome to see! Sara Del Rey was a great decision!

Do you think the division could use Sera Feeny? If so, who would you pick to be your debut opponent?

Oh hell yeah! Those women have trained and worked their butt off to have that roster spot. I would want to pay the same dues they paid, and work just as hard as they did to earn my spot. I may have a ways to go, but never say never! I would be open to facing any of the women in WWE or NXT as my debut opponent. However, it would be an honor to get in the ring with Natalya, Charlotte, Paige, Becky, or any of the top women currently on their roster. I also hope one day I can have a match with Sara Del Rey, I have heard nothing but great things about her.

Lastly, if one of your fans came up to you and said they want to be a professional wrestler, what would your response be?

I would say make sure you finish school, go to college, and get yourself a solid education. I began wrestling in 2010, but have also been going to college full-time (working on my third college degree), and working full-time. I am fortunate to have a great job now which allows me to travel for wrestling and to have the ability to chase my dreams. Also, make sure you don’t let anyone tell you that you cannot accomplish what you want in life. Write your own story, live by your own means.
