Has Brock Lesnar Turned Face?

In episode 11 of The Daily Wrestling Podcast, Aatif and Armaan discuss the major events from this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Daniel Bryan’s questionable loss, the continued devaluing of the Intercontinental title and the impact (or lack thereof) of the advertised legends.

But the main point of contention comes from Brock Lesnar’s role on last night’s Raw. He began the night by confronting Seth Rollins – the de facto lead heel in the company – and ended the night by delivering F5s to the corporate stooges Kane and The Big Show, while Seth did a runner up the ramp.

The question is simple, by virtue of his destruction of two top heels and his intent to destroy a third, does this make Brock Lesnar a face? The crowd reaction from a largely muted Dallas, Texas crowd was one of roaring approval. But is this just a one off?

The duo speculate as to what Brock’s role will be coming out of the Royal Rumble. If he was to walk away from the Rumble as champion (and as face), it stands to reason that a heel will win the Rumble match. That heel could be Bray Wyatt, it could be Rusev – or it could be a returning Randy Orton. None of these winners make for a potentially exciting World Title match of ‘Mania.

But if Rollins was (as expected) to walk away from the Royal Rumble with the World Championship, there are a more exciting list of potential face winners. Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan and of course…the favourite…Roman Reigns. A Rollins vs Bryan match would certainly keep most hardcore fans happy, but a happy medium might be a triple threat match between the ex-Shield members for the world title. This would free up Brock (as a face or heel) to have a ‘special attraction’ style match against any number of opponents; from Daniel Bryan to a returning Undertaker.

Either way, the duo reserve praise for the writing team’s efforts to create a sense of unpredictability about who will win the Rumble itself. With Daniel Bryan taking a clean(ish) loss from Wyatt and Reigns giving a career-best promo (by ostensibly saying nothing) – all the balls are in the air.

Also discussed on the podcast are the decimation of The Ascension at the hands of legends the company and how this could be destructive in the long run.

As always the duo announce today’s Dean Douglas Award winner and give their Match of The Day.
