Should The WWE & World Titles Be Unified?

After last night’s angle where World Heavyweight Champion John Cena came out and He had a stare off with WWE Champion Randy Orton at Survivor Series PPV, it has been speculated that WWE will finally unify the titles.

Since they unified the WWF Championship and the WCW AKA World Heavyweight Championship back at Vengeance 2001 when Chris Jericho beat “The Great One” The Rock and “The Rattlesnake” “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in one night to create the Undisputed Title. People at the time were happy to see the two titles come together as one instead of it being a bit odd walking around with two titles.

This was even before the brand extension in 2002 and the title was for both Raw and Smackdown. Granted it was when both shows had the same roster but you only had one major title to chase. Now the other titles meant more because there was only one other title to go after (Intercontinental Title) so if that’s WWE idea in 2013 then there on the right path.

Skip ahead to 2002 on the night September 2, 2002 where Eric Bischoff announced that Triple H was the new and first (WWE) World Heavyweight Champion for the Raw Brand. Brock Lesnar was the WWE champion for Smackdown. During this time, it was believed that the World Heavyweight Championship was more prestige’s than the WWE title. During the reign of Triple H who dominated 2002-2004 title was criticized for his run.

I don’t need to run down the people who held the WWE title because that is well documented but People who held the World Heavyweight Championship is superstars like: The Undertaker, Edge, Randy Orton, John Cena, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar.

For many years when the WWE title was on Smackdown from 2002-2005 it was the main title and had the big names holding the title. WWE realized this and took John Cena who had won it at WrestleMania 21 to the Raw brand.

Why should WWE unify the titles right now 2013 when the product isn’t the best nor they don’t’ have enough big names to have their own storylines outside the title picture? When you have four big names in a feud it is over what? The WWE and World Heavyweight titles, the two for each of course.

Back in 2002 you had major superstars, The Rock, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker & ETC. In 2013 you don’t have that. Also it’s very random that they will run this program and have it run all the way to WrestleMania. If they do this at a TLC (Which I don’t think they would) or even a Royal Rumble instead of WrestleMania 30 it would be a mistake. This year’s WrestleMania is the 30th anniversary so they need something big. I don’t think they should unify both titles but if they wanted to do something Big then having Randy Orton and John Cena for an undisputed champion would be big.

Answer will be giving soon but that’s just my two contents.

What do you think? Thanks for reading.
