The WWE Championship/Heavyweight Championship
When WWE revealed their new Championship, at first I was hesitant. I personally was a fan of the spinner belt (although I know many thought it looked cheesy). But as time went on The belt has grown on me. I love the idea of the interchangeable plates depending who has the belt. With the unification of the titles, WWE is showing the future of the business while holding onto a piece of history.
The Intercontinental Championship
For as long as I can remember the I.C. Championship has been the same. From the Honkey Tonk Man to Bad News Barrett, the design of the belts have remained the same with the only change being the color of the strap now going back to the classic white version. Besides the Heavyweight Champinship, the I.C. title is the only belt keeping the nostalgia going.
Tag Team Championship
This is where it goes south for me. What was wrong with the old belts? The belts didn’t look bad, but they weren’t great. Now we got two belts that look like copper pennies. They are awful, whosever idea this was should be fired!!! I remember in the nineties and early 2000’s the WWE had Raw and Smackdown Tag Team Champions and those belts were ok. It’s time to revamp these belts and make them look like they have class.
I will not even comment on the “diva’s championship.”
The U.S. Championship has not changed much and still holds the look as in the old WCW days. Some things are better just left alone.
As I close I would like to end on a positive note. All of the NXT belts are simple and look great. The NXT Womens title is at least not a huge butterfly and the tag titles look like they belong in the big leagues. So take a hint WWE and put title that look like championships on your champions!!!!!
