So I would like to begin by stating wow we are 7 weeks away from the “Grandest
stage of the all ” Are you ready? “
That being said I am here to talk
about a very important subject that surprisingly hasn’t received as much
attention I believed it would. That is NXT vs. The Main roster. Now I don’t
mean the talent or the production but the quality. I want to specifically focus
on the fact that creatively Vince McMahon runs the main roster and HHH runs NXT…… Say what, is it even possible that Vince is not always what’s best for business that
someone else may know enough to produce a better product overall. Yes, Yes it
is the “doofus son-in law” of the genetic jackhammer may actually know what he
is doing.
Not that long ago we were introduced to
the NXT takeover specials that served as their pay-per-views giving us one
about every 4 months leaving enough time for a great build and an even more
amazing show. This was sickly apparent after the last takeover special, the
main roster was reported in a panic even holding talent only meetings lead by
John Cena to boost moral. There was a major main roster pay per view that could
not live up to NXT seriously wow. It even went as far as to be reported that
Vince is not a big fan of NXT and how it outshined his roster, Other than the character
and talent itself is that the reason why 85% of the time the NXT call ups get
“soured on if they are not over immediately or the push that was in line for
them has now been reassigned for someone else. Now there has been some
successful case such as Ambrose, Rollins, reigns, bray and Paige but that’s
about it. This is only including the ones from right before the show launched
on the network and beyond, as I understand everyone usually goes through
development.
When it comes to producing the main roster
shows Vinnie Mac as the final end all say all of what is in the final script, sometimes
having it rewritten hours before they go live. It has became so bad that there
are reports of the show sill being finalized during the 8:00-9:00 first hour. WHAT…
Really how can this be? Can this be the big gaping whole that is the booking/
Creative department we speak of so “So Highly” when something happens that is
“Exactly what the fans want” (Cause that happens all the time). At over 70
years old is Vince is set in his own ways seeing the face of the company as a
bodybuilder type who is big and strong IE: John cena just like back in the
1980’s with Hogan. That format may have worked back then but fans now a day are
more educated then that with all the dirt sheets and Wikipedia. Not everyone
has to believe in a superhero to which Vince likes. A pure athlete who can
technically wrestle can put o a 5 star show (I am PRAYING for a Bryan vs.
Rollins main event match) and captivate the crowd like no other. He refuses to
change and progress with the times and that WILL be the death of the WWE, as we
know it. No I don’t think they will go bankrupt but with a financial future at
stake it may be time for him to swallow his pride and step down, there is no
shame in admitting its time.
HHH has brought a breath of fresh air to
the company in NXT, they have a wonderful divas division which gets a lot of
spotlight that is well deserved. Though it is tough to gauge how they person
will do on the main roster because the arena at full sail is only so big and a
small crowd may skew the real reaction but what’s wrong with talking a leap of
faith and letting them have freedom in character. I think that the biggest
difference is creative control; sometimes seeing pure emotion coming from the
person not the character makes a huge impact.
Only time will tell what will become
of the main roster in years to come. If the talent down in NXT is any
indication of what we have to look forward to then I believe the fans will be
in for a treat. This will only work if the unspeakable happens…. VKM saying
goodbye and a sweep of change takes over whether that be HHH and steph or
someone else.
