I am really looking forward to Money in the Bank. Previous years have produced some shockers, and I hope this year is the same. MITB 2014 has four matches on the card so far, so here are my predictions.
- Paige vs Naomi - Paige wins and continues her dominance.
- Usos vs Wyatts - Harper and Rowan want to solidify themselves as a great tag team, so they will win.
- MITB Match for briefcase - Bad News Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Jack Swagger vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Seth Rollins. - With all the build up for Seth Rollins, I highly expect Rollins to win here and do so at the expense of Ambrose.
- MITB Title Match. - Alberto Del Rio vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Cesaro vs. John Cena vs. Kane vs. Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus - As Daniel Bryan would likely be champion still, WWE will want someone who can be marketed, so I highly expect Cena or Orton to win this match, and give us lots of false hope that Bray, Cesaro or Roman Reigns will win.
There are tons of names coming through at the moment, the WWE is in a transition period of making new stars, and this PPV should help somewhat. It also helps the chemistry of the roster overall to have events like this, and that is why we have seen so many tag team/handicap matches lately.
I am disappointed The Shield disbanded, but at the same time, there wasn't much left for them to do, except defeat The Wyatt Family.
Honestly, I can't think of much more to say about the WWE, they are on a good path, and I am hoping for some shockers at the Money in the Bank PPV.
TNA Destination X is a PPV I have really enjoyed over the years. In recent times it has been the best PPV produced by TNA due to the emphasis on the X-Division. Also the addition of "Option C" (the X-Division Champion vacates the belt to be rewarded a world title shot) gives the main event much more importance.
The main event is yet to be decided, but the X-Division Champion going into the PPV is likely to challenge Bobby Lashley. It is highly possible we will get a #1 contenders match in Ultimate X for the X-Divison Championship, with current, past, and possibly new names contending.
Something I am really in favour for is the reintroduction of the six sided ring. Although TNA Wrestling originally used the four sided ring, it was the six sided ring, teamed with the athleticism of the X-Division, which produced some of the most exciting and innovative competition of the past ten years.
Anyone remember AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels at Unbreakable 2005? TNA can produce some very unique matches using the six sided ring, but they need to recapture the magic by bringing the focus back to the X-Division. It should be a requirement to have at least one X-Division match on every show, and they should look for more NEW X-Divison talent.
The X-Division was great because the wrestlers were in their prime, so TNA need to get scouting and find the next AJ Styles, the next Petey Williams, the next Chris Sabin etc.
Since Hogan/Bischoff left, several talents have become open to making returns again. Episodes of Impact and Destination X will see the returns of ...
Rhino - GORE! GORE! GORE!
Tommy Dreamer - ECW!
Low Ki - Warrior!
Homicide - Da Gringo Killa!
Brian Cage - Making his TNA debut!
(Wrestled for PWG and FCW)
Matt Hardy - Hardy Boyz will reunite!
It's an exciting time for TNA, they have the potential to fix some of the damage done from previous years. It all depends on whether TNA can sign wrestlers the fans want to see, and use that talent appropriately. TNA needs to rebuild the tag team division, bring something fresh to the Knockouts, and bring the X-Divison forward.
The TNA World Heavyweight Championship should have a smaller focus, especially on episodes of Impact. They can still build feuds and storylines for the main event, but they don't need to take up 50-75% of every show to do that. More variety, more talents getting used, happier everyone will be.
And that's all from me for now. Have a lovely summer.
