Throwing Up Bella

On Monday night’s edition of RAW, WWE debuted a new pre-taped interview segment with Nikki Bella called, “Growing Up Bella.”

Designed as a way to further the already dreadful Bella Twins feud, “Growing Up Bella” features the larger-breasted Bella Twin seated backstage sharing stories about their childhood, and how Brie would always screw her over.

On Monday’s show, WWE aired three different “Growing Up Bella” segments, with the Bella program culminating in another in-ring segment that also featured Stephanie McMahon, AJ Lee and Paige.

What’s hideous about this is the fact that this Bella Twins feud spawned out of what was originally a pretty damn good feud, one with Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella that led into this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

The Stephanie-Brie program was critically acclaimed by many, and while it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, most were in agreement that particularly for a Divas type feud, it actually worked pretty well. One could even argue that outside of Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena, the co-main event at SummerSlam, which is generally WWE’s second biggest annual pay-per-view offering, was in fact the Stephanie vs. Brie match.

Obviously this wasn’t because of the expectations of a “classic match” between the two, but because of the fact that going into the show, their program arguably felt like the second biggest thing on the pay-per-view.

While that is debatable, what isn’t debatable — at least in my eyes — is that the “Growing Up Bella” segments on RAW last night absolutely sucked. Total garbage. From where I’m sitting, they should have called the segments, “Throwing Up Bella,” not because Brie Bella looks like a bulimic, but because watching them makes you want to vomit.

This is coming from the same guy who actually defended the Nikki/Brie segment on last week’s show, which I was absolutely blasted for on last week’s edition of WZRtv. This week? Yeah, no. I won’t be defending anything. I’m going to go ahead and jump on the “this sucks” bandwagon, because there was absolutely nothing positive I could draw from anything Bella-related on Monday’s show.

What’s even worse is that this Bella Twins feud is expected to spill over into season three of WWE Total Divas, which premieres this Sunday on the E! network. In fact, according to multiple sources, the entire origin of this Bella Twins feud comes from the producers at E!, who reportedly wanted some friction between the twin sisters as one of the key (contrived) story lines this season.

I actually have to watch Total Divas for work-related reasons, so I can only imagine how phony their “hatred” for each other is going to come off on the “reality” show.

And the worst part is, much like the point I made in one of my editorials last week, A Pattern In WWE That I’m Starting To Hate, more likely than not, we’ve only just begun. What that means is that smart money is on a multi-pay-per-view program between the Bella Twins, meaning we’re going to have to stomach this type of crap for several weeks.
