It’s been reported lately that TNA iMPACT was moving to 3 hour shows. A move greeted with many moans and groans from fans who do not want to see a 3 hours show as it devalues the overall product (SEE – Raw)
Yesterday,Dixie Carter tweeted from her account. It simply read.
TNADixie. iMPACTWRESTLING will move to WEDNESDAY nights starting June 3rd on DestAmerica!!!
So let me get this straight, TNA is moving BACK to Wednesday Nights along with Going To 3 hours? Dixie Carter you are officially a moron!! TNA is a huge failure that under Dixie’s leadership they’re in an already tough situation, 3 hours is going to be horrible, a terrible decision. What do you have to present to your audience that will keep them entertained for 3 hours straight? WWE struggle to do this regulary with a better overall product than TNA so i don’t see how they could pull this off.
Now they decide to switch days. TNA have switched days so many times over the last year trying to find a solution to gain more viewers as their ratings are absurdly disappointing but this is not the way. Normally networks move shows to Friday if ratings don’t improve. The sudden move to Wednesday and that next week’s rating will bounce back. It more than likely will, but on the off chance that it doesn’t, then TNA may be in some serious trouble. If ratings continue to slide, TNA’s negotiations with DA will likely come to a screeching halt. Meanwhile, with a rating so low, Impact may not be able to find a home elsewhere, as no other network would likely be interested in such a poorly drawing program.
Tna is like an emotional girlfriend who can’t decide what to eat. They can never make up their minds. It’s about time they sold up and let someone else have a shot before they completely tarnish any rep they have left. What they have failed to realise is wednesdays are already a busy night for wrestling fans as NXT airs at 8pm. Lucha Underground also airs Wednesdays at 8pm on the El Rey Network. So please tell me you’re not trying to compete with NXT and Lucha? Because this move will backfire in a big way 5-7 hours of wrestling on a wednesday is exhasting for any diehard fan. Lucha have there own loyalists fanbase who will continue to support Lucha. It’s the same with NXT, don’t expect them to watch your product over theirs, it ain’t happening. NXT is the new guy in town and is by far the better product, growing at a rapidly high pace. Whilst TNA is slowly ebbs away. NXT will continue to flourish and outshine any competition. Hell, they outshine Raw on a weekly basis. WWE’s main show for christ sake.
Just look at the list of names of talent on the NXT roster compared to TNA’s roster. Finn Balor Hideo Itami Sasha Banks Kevin Owens Rhyno Big Cass and Enzo Amore Sami Zayne Bayley Tyler Breeze Charlotte and now the newest addition Samoa Joe and many more… I know which show i’ll be watching on wednesday nights. NXT is fast becoming WWE’s very own indy scene..
TNA on the other hand are a glorified indy promotion. I could agree it’s not completely all TNA’s fault for there problems. Live television costs more and if Discovery isn’t willing to help, they’ll have to continue to tape shows. Destination America cannot suddenly be on lower packages over night either, and TNA has no control on that regardless.
Discovery doesn’t either really. So the problems TNA faces aren’t all on them, but in the end they are happening. So it is still not a good thing. Destination America is beginning to realise this company that’s on life support cannot be saved. A user on the F4WOnline forums asked how Destination America could cancel the show if they have a two-year deal with TNA. The source noted that Destination America has an out clause in September. The relationship with TNA and Destination America has been a very rocky one already after five months. The plan was for Destination America to air multiple TNA shows per week.
They started out doing that, but after the number of viewers weren’t great, Destination America has pulled back on the content and they show a lot less. At the recent tapings, TNA President Dixie Carter told the talent not to worry about the ratings as a way to try to tell them that everything is fine. When in reality it couldn’t be any further from the truth. There likely is some concern from both sides about TNA’s future on the channel. I predict DA will severe all ties with TNA after the current deal is up after this move to wednesday nights comes back to haunt them.
