Which is Worse: A Divas Match Or A Tag Match Involving Kane and Big Show?

For me, Raw this past Monday was very disappointing. Other than Paul Heyman being giving free reign on a microphone and a fake bolt of lightning, the show was very sluggish and predictable. This was typified in two matches – the divas match between Summer Rae and AJ Lee and the tag team match involving the Big Show and Kane.

Lets look first at the Divas match. This match actually lasted longer than a minute (unfortunately) and looked more scripted than any TV drama going. The match had no flow, no pace, no nothing. Each move was preceded with a moments pause whilst the Divas had a little chin-wag to see what they should do next. Both looked like they were more concerned with not hurting each other rather than having the trust and belief to go through with moves to at least make them look half believable. This has been a recurring theme recently within the Divas section, whether it be Natalia and Naomi or The Bellas and Paige, and yet they wonder why the #givedivasachance movement is less of a movement and more of a stationary point that’s slowly sinking.

The tag team match between Kane & Big Show and Ryback & Eric Rowan wasn’t much better. On one side, you have two up and coming superstars, who aren’t exactly the quickest guys on the roster but have the strength and characters to produce matches that are fairly noteworthy. Heck it wasn’t that long ago that Ryback was taking on the Best in the World in a showstopping Hell in a Cell match. On the other side, you have two guys who have been there and done it all. They’ve put their heart and soul into the WWE over the years and produced multiple memorable moments between them, yet they still seem to be shoved down our throats. Not only are they ruining it for the superstars they are wrestling against, but they’re also ruining it for themselves. The have nothing else left to prove. Why not do the honorable thing and call it a day? A few years ago they could still get away with it, but now they are both very slow in the ring, their characters have been thrown so many different ways that they have become insignificant and they are starting to detract from the other superstars who are being forced between the ropes with them.

I’m sure opinions are divided as to whether the Divas should be given more of a chance or not, and if the Big Show and Kane are actually contributing to the show or not, but for me, there are so many other avenues the WWE could be going down to give the fans a better quality product.
