Who Should End The Undertaker’s Streak?

For the longest time, I was of the opinion that someone should eventually break The Undertaker’s famous WrestleMania undefeated streak, the only question in my mind was — who should be the guy to break it? Over the last few years, when the streak really took on a life of its’ own, I changed my position. I’m now of the opinion that the streak should never end. If it were to end, however, who should be the guy to break it? Let’s take a look at some possibilities …

Roman Reigns

WWE has big plans for Roman Reigns, this much we all know by now. If the company really views Reigns as a future main eventer, than what better rub to give him than being the guy who finally broke Undertaker’s incredible WrestleMania undefeated streak? Maybe have Reigns plow through the Rumble, win it all, and then have him announce that he doesn’t want a title shot as a result, he wants something else — the chance to break Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania. He goes into WrestleMania XXX, his first WrestleMania as a singles competitor, and does the unthinkable — he actually defeats The Dead Man. That’s a pretty damn big jumping off point for Reigns. Obviously that will not happen, but it would be a pretty unique way of building a future mega-star.

Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt fits the Undertaker mold. There’s Undertaker, there’s Kane, there’s Mankind, and only a handful of other character-type performers in WWE that have a similar feel to them. Bray Wyatt’s awesome character, in my opinion, is another one. What better way to legitimize that character as a top-tier act than to have him be the guy to take out The Phenom? There’s still a chance that The Wyatt Family becomes a flash in the pan type of fad. Something that doesn’t necessarily have the legs to stand the test of time. What isn’t an uncertainty is Bray Wyatt’s unique ability. He’s a great talker, and has a pretty impressive in-ring style considering his size. If Undertaker were to pass the torch to somebody, it would make sense that it’s another character-type like himself. Throughout the history of WWE, not many truly top-level, main event caliber Superstars were a complete character. Undertaker is one that has stood the test of time. Bray Wyatt could get the torch passed to him to anoint him as the next main event character-type guy for the future. Just an idea.

Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is the guy in WWE right now that the fans are claiming as their own. The “WWE Universe” clearly wants Bryan to be one of, if not the top guy in the company. WWE has for all intents and purposes held Bryan down the last several months, rather than going with the flow and “giving the fans what they want,” like they claim they do. I’ve mentioned this in the past, but maybe the reason WWE held off on giving Bryan the WWE Championship during his pay-per-view run as a title challenger a couple of months ago is because they want to save it for WrestleMania. Basically, hold off on having him win the big one on the biggest stage possible. I’m sure that’s wishful thinking on my part, but I guess time will tell. Another way to go, however, is to have Bryan take out the Dead Man and end his streak at WrestleMania. It would be a completely unexpected feat, and one that would actually endorse Bryan in spite of his size. WWE has long been considered a company that puts most of their stock into larger-than-life performers, with The Undertaker being one of the prime examples. In this case, Bryan being the guy to end his streak would be the passing of the torch and the eclipsing of the size barrier in WWE. It would be his coming out party as a legitimate main eventer in WWE, and would happen in a legendary way because whoever ends the streak, if anyone ever does, would be making WWE history. If you really want to establish Bryan as a top guy, that’s one hell of a way to do it. Again, wishful thinking on my part.

These are just some of the examples. I’ll point out again that A. I don’t want the streak to end and B. don’t think it will. But if it were to happen, these are some cool ways of going about it.

If Undertaker’s streak were to end, who do you guys think should be the man to do it, and why? Leave your feedback in the “Comments” section below. You can also add me as a friend on Facebook at Facebook.com/MattBooneWZR.
