Should WCW Have Won The Monday Night Wars Instead Of WWE? Would Wrestling Be Better Off Today?

Welcome To WCW Monday Nitro!

Just kidding of course.

But what if? What if Ted Turners World Championship wrestling had won the war and not Vince McMahons WWE?

Would the industry be better off? I for one think the wrestling industry would’ve been better off, but i guess we’ll never truly know. In this day and age it’s hard to be a fan of wrestling, not just WWE. Most of the stuff out there is dire compared to the 80’s 90’s 00’s ect, it’s very hard to watch. Now, as you know, the WWE say they cater to all age demographics, but we know WWE cater to the younger viewers rather than adults. There’s very little for us adults to watch, if anything at all.

I will never forget where I was the night that we all found out WWE had bought out WCW. It was utter shock, astounded but exciting too. The excitement soon turned to frustration and now anger. If WCW had won the Monday Night Wars instead of Vince McMahon’s WWE we’d have better matches much better storylines and something to look forward to every week. Eric Bishcoff and co would have worked the invasion angle in WCW perfectly and not turned it into the catastrophic disaster WWE did. If WCW had won the war, what big-named WWE stars would have stayed with the company? Would Chris Jericho or Benoit ever have gone back? So many questions. Wrestling was so good back then.

Once upon a time being a wrestling fan used to be cool. Everyone was watching, your mates your parents your pets, hell, even our girlfriends were watching. Nowadays not so much. I don’t want to say it’s becoming embarrassing to be a wrestling fan, but the cat the dog mom dad and girlfriend have all decided wrestling is not for them anymore. Now there’s just me, and i’m beginning to see why. Wrestling actually lost the war.

WWE is starting to struggle badly, not disastrous, but bad. I would go on record today as saying WWE is at it’s lowest ebb. They’ve been in decline since the MNW ended. We don’t want match after match with no meaning. What is the point in that? It’s no wonder the viewing figures are at an all time low. Bringing in past time greats just don’t cut it. The never ending pushes of John Cena or Vince trying to feed his ego is really all we have witnessed since the death of WCW. Yes, the last few years in WCW when Vince Russo was the boss was not all that great, but still it was better than the garbage we’re forced fed today.

If WCW had won the MNW could you imagine the heights they’d reach? Or how good wrestling would be today? I can definitely see WCW and wrestling still being around today if they had won the wars. Looking at todays product, it’s safe to say it’s a shame they lost.
