WWE Night Of Champions Will Make Or Break Seth Rollins.

Following a rather lacklustre addition of SummerSlam, Night

Of Champions will see current WWE world heavyweight and United States champion
Seth Rollins performing double duty as he prepares to square off against WCW
legend Sting and current face of the company John Cena.

Now usually, facing either one of these two competitors is a
challenge itself, but facing both within a matter of hours is something else.
Although Rollins is one of brightest things around at the moment it’s quite
hard to take many positives from his current title reign. Since hijacking the
main event of Wrestlemania 31 and walking out champion Rollins has failed to
win a single PPV match without interference or controversy surrounding the
decision. With this being Rollins first
world title WWE are in danger of ruining what should be a pivotal moment in his
career.

However, that could all change September 20th. With 2
scheduled matches there are even more scenarios that could play out; who knows
how many belts Rollins will walk out the Toyota Centre with. Whichever route
WWE decide to go with this will show how much faith they still have in Rollins.

Best case scenario (being a big Rollins fan myself) would be
that the architect walks out the way he walks in, with both belts over his
shoulder. It’s one thing trusting him with being the holder of two major
singles titles, but to have him defend and retain them on the same night would
show just have far McMahon and co are willing to let him go. Like I said, his
opponents aren’t exactly two jobbers he can finish in the pace of 5 /10
minutes. These are two of the biggest names in the industry at the moment and 2
wins would be huge. Even if one of the victories is due to interference, one
clean win out of two will be a fantastic boost.

On the other hand, this could go one of two ways. If Rollins
loses both matches, then we have a problem. If Rollins loses his match to Cena
cleanly and then drops the WWE world heavyweight title to Sting later on in the
night then it could really hurt the champ. Of course Rollins has to drop the
titles at some point. But dropping them towards the end of the year to build a
match with HHH at Wrestlemania would be more ideal than losing all he’s
accomplished so far in one clean sweep. If Rollins does lose both matches at
N.O.C then WWE have to capitalise and build a story around the downfall of Seth
Rollins after reaching the top so he can slowly build his road to redemption.

One route that would be interesting would be is seeing
Rollins drop one belt and keep the other. If creative go this route, it will be
interesting to see which belt they decide to strip Rollins of. Should Rollins
walk out with the US belt alone, it may show that the backroom staff are losing
confidence in Rollins being at the top right now. Whilst giving Rollins both
belts should show their confidence in him, it may have simply been a smoother
way of passing on the US title to Rollins and keeping Cena from the 16 world
title mark… for now.

Let’s also not forget, Rollins may have a third match. When all
is said and done and an exhausted Rollins is lay in the middle of the ring
clenching the WWE World heavyweight championship in his grasp; As Sheamus
kindly reminded us on Raw that he could still cash in his Money In The Bank
briefcase. To lose the title in similar fashion to how he won it, via a cash
in, would be quite ironic considering Rollins has spent a lot of the year
bragging about how he won the title.

As we approach the PPV 1 week away, Rollins is in real danger of leaving empty handed, and
depending how he’s built after the PPV is just as important as the match
results on the night.
