WWE Roadblock: End of the Line PPV Match Card Lineup Predictions

The final Raw pay-per-view of 2016 will oddly enough be an event that we’ve already seen once this year: Roadblock, this time coupled with the subtitle “End of the Line”. Based off what transpired at Survivor Series and this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, there’s some indication as to what WWE is planning for the event even though it’s several weeks away.

What matches will be booked on the card and how is the lineup going to form over the next few weeks? Let’s put our psychic powers to the test and give some guesses.

CONFIRMED MATCHES

None at the moment

PRESUMABLE MATCHES

WWE Universal Championship Match / United States Championship Match

Seth Rollins has now had multiple attempts at the Universal title, so after losing his most recent attempt against Kevin Owens, you’d think WWE would move on to someone else. However, given the circumstances with Chris Jericho’s involvement, they may drag this out even longer by having yet another match between the two. We haven’t seen Triple H get his hands dirty as expected, so somewhere along the lines, he’s going to have to show up to rekindle his feud with Rollins to set up WrestleMania. Could it happen at Roadblock, or is WWE going to wait until Elimination Chamber or Fastlane to really kick things into gear?

If it isn’t Seth Rollins who gets the title shot, Roman Reigns is the next most likely choice. Clearly, he’s being grouped into the feud now, which means he’ll be facing either Owens or Jericho. Rumors were spreading over the past few weeks that the plan was to have Reigns go up against Owens in a Champion Versus Champion scenario, either with or without the United States title on the line, but probably just for Owens’ belt.

Could there be a swap where Rollins faces Jericho and Owens faces Reigns, or will Rollins get the Universal title shot while Jericho will fight Reigns for the United States Championship? Perhaps there will even be a Fatal 4-Way with all four men involved, fighting in contention for the Universal title? Somehow, these four will be locking up, and it’s just a question of what the combinations will be.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship Match

Charlotte Flair is set to defend her championship against Sasha Banks next week on Raw, but considering the amount of effort WWE has put into making Charlotte the absolute top of the women’s division not just on her roster, but in the entire company, it’s tough to imagine she’ll lose to Sasha. Then again, both times Sasha Banks won the championship, she did it by defeating Charlotte on Raw, so history could be on her side.

I highly doubt it, though. Sasha was almost inconsequential at Survivor Series and their feud has gone on long enough. Bayley appears to be the priority going forward, so next week’s title defense is probably just a means to get Sasha Banks her obligatory rematch, push her out of the way and move on to Bayley, who will get the opportunity at Roadblock. There may be a secondary women’s match with Nia Jax facing Sasha Banks or possibly even the redebut of Emmalina, but as far as the title goes, Charlotte will head into it as champion to defend against Bayley.

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship Match

The New Day are so close to beating Demolition’s record and by Roadblock, they’ll have surpassed it unless they lose the belts on Monday Night Raw. Just as Charlotte will defend her title next week, so, too, will The New Day. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson haven’t had the best few months, but they still have a lot of potential to be at the top of the division if WWE would simply book them as the ass kickers they were when they originally came onto the scene. Here’s hoping they don’t win the belts and preemptively kill off the record, but with The New Day drawing attention to it and cheating to retain this week, I think the story going forward will be that they are desperate to hold onto the belts no matter what.

The way I see things going down is for that trend to continue. Next week, Gallows and Anderson will be close to winning and The New Day will get disqualified or counted out. On December 5th and possibly December 12th as well, they could have matches against Enzo and Cass, The Shining Stars, The Golden Truth or anybody else, doing the same thing. Then, Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon will call them out on it and book some kind of Triple Threat or Fatal 4-Way match where The New Day will lose the titles but might not necessarily be the team who gets pinned. By that point, they’ll have passed the record, so it’s fair game to lose.

Braun Strowman vs. Sami Zayn

Zayn was utterly destroyed by Strowman, but since this was a feud that existed before Survivor Series and didn’t quite have a resolution before being picked back up here, I’m expecting to see Zayn want to have another match to prove that he isn’t a total weakling. Of course, Strowman still has the edge to win, but this would be more competitive than their previous encounters.

POTENTIAL OTHER MATCHES

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

With 205 Live coming onto the scene next week, a lot of specific details revolving around that are still up in the air. Is this just going to be a separate show where the cruiserweight division is still going to be able to wrestle on Monday Night Raw? It would seem like that’s the case, since the stipulation for the Survivor Series match was that the division would go over to SmackDown if Kalisto had won, so if this was an entirely separate brand, none of that would have mattered.

If they are still available to wrestle on the Raw pay-per-views, then at the very least, Brian Kendrick will be involved, but he might be the challenger instead of the champion. He’s scheduled to defend the championship against Rich Swann, who I feel is most likely not that big of a threat, but stranger things have happened. Even if Kendrick retains the title, his challenger could still be a handful of different people. Swann could win by disqualification or count out and still be in the running, TJ Perkins has a title shot that is lingering in the mix, Noam Dar was being set up a bit, and Cedric Alexander is no slouch either. Any of those guys could be the one to challenge Kendrick and we probably won’t have any clear indication until at least Swann’s title match.

The Stragglers

Rusev appears to be in a feud with Enzo and Cass right now, which could culminate in a Big Cass vs. Rusev match as filler here if they aren’t involved in the tag team championship situation.

Likewise, if Cesaro and Sheamus aren’t fighting for the tag titles, they could split up and have one more blow-off match to settle the score and finish their feud that has been going on for what feels like half the year now.

As mentioned before, there may be room on the card to feature Nia Jax and/or Emmalina, so if Nia Jax faces Sasha Banks, perhaps Emmalina will have a match against Alicia Fox on the pre-show or something along those lines.
