WWE Should Do More to Support JR

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Jim Ross.  My fandom is a collective result of a lot of things.  First, I have been a wrestling fan for over 30 years and JR has been the voice of most those.   I can’t think of many big moments in wrestling where his voice wasn’t the soundtrack.   Second, he has so much real world experience in so many aspects of the business that you have to respect the man’s opinion whether you agree with him on everything or not.   And third, he does more to actively engage and communicate with his fanbase than anyone else of consequence that I can think of, in any genre of sports or entertainment.  As a result of these things, I strongly support and endorse JR and the brand he is working to build. These things, coupled with the fact that JR gave over 20 years of his life to WWE, lead me to wonder why they don’t go out of their way to support him.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, and several others have had current WWE talents on their podcasts, but JR has yet to have one on the Ross Report.  Several of us have asked about that on his Q&A’s at JRsBBQ.com and on twitter @JRsBBQ.  The answer has consistently been that WWE has not approved their talents to appear on his Podcast.  Why not?

I understand that WWE has an interest in not having their talents appear anywhere and everywhere, but JR is not some Johnny Come Lately fly by night.  He is arguably the most respected broadcaster in wrestling history (with over 40 years in the business) and was the voice of WWE for a generation.   He has worked at almost all levels of the company from commentary to the executive offices.  If JR doesn’t qualify to have WWE talents on his podcast, then who does?  In addition, JR has a top-ten rated podcast and has been actively promoting the WWE Network at every turn.  One would think having WWE talents on his show would help in that area.

What are you thoughts on the subject?  Should WWE be more supportive of Good Ole’ JR?

Thoughts and comments are welcome as usual.

P.S.  If you haven’t listened yet, you should really check out The Ross Report at podcastone.com.  JR does a great job at delivering compelling interviews.  This week’s interview with Ronda Rousey was excellent.  He also takes question suggestions a day or two before each interview on twitter.  He will let you know when to post them with #AskJR.
