WWE Wrestling Hypocrisy: Complaining, Yet Still Watching

The Diva’s Division needs a face-lift. Brock Lesnar doesn’t make enough appearances. Daniel Bryan is being held back.  The Undertaker should have never lost the
streak. John Cena sucks. The list of criticisms and complaints continues to
fill up quicker than a Christmas List in an orphanage.  All of these sounds from the whining fanbase have
become elevated enough to be heard through a new pair of Beats with the volume
approaching decimation. Please stop!

Why will things all of a sudden change? Just because AJ Lee
comes out and expresses her personal opinion that for all intensive purposes
could prove to be completely disingenuous, people jump aboard the #GiveDivasAChance
bandwagon. Do you feel that? Can you hear it? Well it’s the sound of Vince
McMahon’s ultimate creativity and ego sucking you in like a Dyson.

Wrestling fans need to take wrestling for what it is at the
current moment. Not a science of technical maneuvers that prove to outsmart the
other opponents. Certainly not a series of arm bars and headlocks with an excessive
amount of arm raises by the referee to check for a pulse. It is a well scripted
soap opera that takes in account a marketability factor that only headquarters
has created. An overdrawn 3 hour Monday Night Raw is a show captivated by
flashbacks, rewinds and commercials to promote the WWE Network or Upcoming
episodes of WWE Divas.

I remember what it was like watching a 1 hour Tag Team
Championship on a Saturday afternoon between The Russians (Ivan Koloff, Krusher
Khruschev) and the Rock N Roll Express. In the same token, being able to
experience Tully Blanchard versus Dusty Rhodes for the NWA TV title was what
professional wrestling was all about. Sure there was still the storyline of the
Four Horsemen breaking Rhodes’ ankle requiring him to wear his special boot
that ultimately became his special weapon. But it ran its course without the
chance of being boring or redundant. These were the kind of moments that will
never be duplicated or remanufactured within the business.

Those were the days of true wrestling and before the world
of network shows and big-time sponsorships. What we need to do is take the
world of professional entertainment for what it really is and decide to stay or
to go. Complaining about it on a weekly basis is not going to magically bring
the days of the Monday Night Wars or the Attitude Era back to relevancy.

There are plenty of other promotions out there that promote
true wrestling and more on the horizon. If you haven’t noticed you can go on
the internet and watch plenty of true wrestling matches, as well as the era that
is more to your liking. My goal here isn’t to tell people to stop watching the
WWE, but instead to emphasize its new identity without the usual excessive
rants of why the product isn’t creative enough.

If the WWE is your thing, there are plenty of intriguing
storylines coming up for WrestleMania. I personally think the Triple H versus
Sting match is being promoted seamlessly with the backdrop of WWE versus WCW. The
mysterious promos from the self-proclaimed Father of Fear Bray Wyatt announcing
his anticipation for the arrival of the Deadman could be another reason to
watch.  IF not, ROH is still doing their
thing, along with New Japan and TNA. The independent scene has always been well
established and continues to be a forum for an actual wrestling match. While
they may not be perfect, there are still plenty of viable options out there in
the wrestling world that continue to produce quality matches.

There are many exciting products in the world of wrestling
that are sure to keep the average fan interested. Either way you look at it,
wrestling has many different variables that will continue to make the average fans
opinions heard. However, in order to enjoy it, watch wrestling for what it is,
not the product you wish it would be.
