Since his arrival in WWE, Cena's entire look, character, moveset etc.. were designed by creative and Vince. Over the years I'm sure he has been allowed more and more input, but don't kid yourself that Vince isn't still very much in charge of the 'good ship Cena'. They are fully aware that he has been splitting the crowd for years. As the boos get louder and the we-hate-Cena brigade get stronger, they have done nothing to stem the tide. In fact it would seem at times like they are almost fanning the flames of hatred. But why?
Is there a master plan behind it all? Is this a 10 year mega plan to have Cena make the biggest heel turn since Hogan? Or are they just fucking with us for a laugh. One thing is clear. They don't seem to be trying to make Cena more popular with the over 10 year olds. As someone else pointed out the other day. You don't see anywhere near the Cena shirts in the crowd you use to. Sooner or later is merch sales will start to full from the top spot (and not just for one month).
