Man, you guys sleep too much. I worked for Halliburton as an engineer for a tool which took core samples (rock samples taken from the sidewall of an open hole well). The jobs were usually pretty quick (around 3 to 6 hours depending on how many were needed) but I would be required to travel vast distances to each job; driving from Texas to California to North Dakota to Pennsylvania back to Texas. This being said, when the job would go wrong, I would be required to stay awake until the job was complete. Since I was the only on site able to run tools, staying up for 24hr periods was a frequent occurrance.

That said as a background setting, the longest time period I was awake was for 104 hours (42 up, 2 hour nap, 33 up, 1 hour nap, 14 up, hr nap, 15 up before making it home). Coffee (black) was the only thing used to help me with this, but the point I am bringing up is that it isn't as hard to accomplish as you would think. As long as you are keeping your mind and body involved, active and challenged when staying up late, you can stay up for 48 fairly easy, and you don't really begin seeing tracers until 80 hours in.

Took a $20k pay cut, but I get to see my family each and everyday which makes up for anything we lack.

And whomever asked "Who needs work?" or whatever, I say Someone with 4 kids and a $700 a month Child Support payment for the oldest. aka Me :D
