Days where wwe ppvs have become pretty stale at times and the numbers are showing that the fans arent into the ppvs anymore. Lately we have seen more gimmick ppvs named after a match (Hell in a Cell, TLC, Elimination Chamber) and I will admit some of those ppvs are pretty good. Some of the newer ppvs such as Breaking Point and Over the Limit seriously dont do much for me and I cant even really remember what happend in them. I believe the wwe should focuse more on ppvs that will create real stars. Just like The Royal Rumble can make an instant star, I believe there is another ppv that could do the same. The King of the Ring, what happend to this ppv? It was awesome, entertaining becuase you didnt even know what matches would take place because of its tournament style. I dont like how its only used on RAW now because it takes away the specialty of it by not having it on ppv. The past winners are some flops, but when done right it made huge superstars. The King of the Ring helped make Stone Cold Steve Austin (3:16). Superstars like Triple H, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Edge, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar I believe truly got their breakout moments from winning the King of the Ring. They need to bring it back onto ppv becasue it is an exciting tournament to watch and it helps create big time superstars. Guys like Ziggler, Kofi, Swagger, Barrett, JoMo could really gain alot from it.
Is there anyone else that would like to see TKOTR come back to PPV?

As long as the reward isn't a crappy "Royalty" gimmick.

i agree, it should be taken more seriously and the winner should get the title shot as done in the past, plus it should be a ppv and replace a gimmick ppv

I hate how lately that has happend . . . it ruined Sheamous. But it did work out for Booker T. But TKOTR that I want would be taken seriously like in the past. I would love to see Christian win it because Im a huge peep and because I know he could do what Bret Hart did in the past, and thats have great matches with different stars in different styles. I would love to see Alberto Del Rio win it to, but again . . . please no king gimmick . Its super cheesey and takes away the tough guy facter. I would think beating several guys in 1 night to win would make you look tough, but the winner just comes out looking like a joke wearing the crown and cape for a few months.

I always loved that PPV.
It will be great to have it back instead of I don't know, Over The limit or Extrem Rules (Because you have TLC anyway), The format of the tournament was very cool, and like you have said, not a gimmick but rewarding a trophie an a title shot to the winner like in the old days, tha twould be great.

It would be a great way to give mid carders a main event push but with 2 MITBs and the Royal Rumble ,It's not really needed. Also,The concept is to bland to intrige cashual fans.

I see your point but I think the whole crown and cape thing worked to absolute wonders for one Kurt Angle.

Yeah it did. So I guess its a hit and miss because it also got Booker T his first world championship in the wwe. I dont mind the gimmick but I just dont think every winner needs to do it. Imagine if Brock Lesnar or Austin did that lol

I remeber that one with Austin, it seemd like Michaels Hayes wanted to do the whole crown thing for him and to Austin for delivering that Incredible speech at that exact moment and reject everything putting everyone on notice was awesome.

When leaner won he got a title shot two months later at summerslam
With that approach summerslam could be wrestlemania Jr.

My fantasy WWE PPV shedule
New years Day: New' Year's Revolution (Elimination Chamber Matches)
Mid February: Royal Rumble
Early April: Wrestlemania (MITB match included)
Late May: King of the Ring (Winner gets a title shot at SummerSlam)
4th of July Weekend: Great American Bash (Usually including a Hell in a Cell match)
Late August: SummerSlam
Early October: Survivor Series (Every match is 5 vs. 5; No exceptions)
Mid November: Night of Champions
8 PPVs is still a bit much but 6 weeks of buildup for each is good.

Didn't we just have a King of the Ring like a few months ago?

Yes indeed. In fact, it was in Philly. I think the idea is to have it as a standalone PPV though.

King Sheamus would have been a great gimmick, he had the look and the ruthlessness to make it work. It would have helped him in terms of character evolvement but it was bad booking that didn't make the gimmick work out.

Just a quick thing only once did the winner of the king of the ring win a wwe championship oppertunity and that was when Lesnar won it in 2002 and i think that was the last KOTR PPV

Macho Man was the first to do the KIng Gimmick, Booker T just rehash it 20 years later.

I believe Harley Race did the first king gimmick (King Harley Race 1986-1988) a year before Randy Savage. Savage didn't pick up the gimmick until 1989.

everybody who thinks that the 'king' gimmick could work out for Sheamus is on crack.
King Booker sucked.
I like King of the Ring but to me it sounds like a tournament for technical wrestlers like Daniel Bryan, William Regal and CM Punk

its called character building/evolvment as well as good booking. the king sheamus gimmick failed due to bad booking for sheamus.
king sheamus would have been a better king than what booker t came up with.

i am a huge fan of the KOTR, i went to the first and the last one on PPV..... I realize that it can get boring seeing the same wrestler in 3 long matche's but they should have each level of the tournament be a diffrent kind of match {cage, table's,ladder,no d.q.} that way it will be exciting all the way through.

I like the idea of the matches having different stages. Possibly like a 3 stages of hell type deal but I wouldnt want to see all extreme style matches because I find those matches stale sometimes as well. Plus it might be brutal for the superstars to compete in soo many extreme matches.
