I just thought I'd post something a bit random because I'm getting bored of constantly reading about Punk's Promo. Yes, it was great. Enjoy it and move on.

Anyway, cage matches... (and sorry if this has been said somewhere before).

Don't you think it's silly that - after going to the trouble of making a cage match - you can still win via pinfall or submission? If it's a cage match, surely the only way to win should be to escape the cage. Winning by pinfall or submission almost defeats the whole purpose of it being a cage match. They could still have a relatively normal match in the middle of there, never using the cage.

Also, I think it's equally as silly how a ref will just open the door wide open for the wrestler trying to escape (also seemingly defeating the purpose of the match - as well as it looking odd when someone's crawling very, very slow to the door, clearly waiting for another wrestler to pull them back before they escape). Don't you think it would be better if the ONLY way to win a cage match was to climb out of it? Or at least have them have to break the door down. You should actually have to ESCAPE the cage, not be let out or win by pinfall/submisison. It should be an effort, climb out or break your way out.

What are your opinions?

Problem is, that when a big man is in the cage, he can't escape.. Like Big Show, Henry, Khali, Ezekiel.

But, as you said they can break the cage door or smth. :)

I get what you saying but the point of the cage is simply to cause pain to the next superstar it is there to be used as a weapon as far as it being silly to win from pin or submission or the reff opening the door wide open its all to make the match that much harder/better. By having so many ways to win 1 match it makes you think as a superstar in the match " i dont only have to worry about him climbing the cage out but i have to worry about him knocking me out and just walking out or making me tap or just simply pinning me" (obvious we know this is all scripted) but still as far as entertainment goes it makes sense. And for guys like Cena (top faces) it doesnt do them justice "escaping from the cage" that just sounds like a punk or someone afraid. So alot of time in the match you will see the Face be the one to win with pin or submission while when the heel wins the match its usually by escaping from the cage. I hope this helps you understand more the purpose of have so many ways to win in a cage match and sorry for so much ^^^ just wanted to give you as much details as i possible could so you could understand and see from a different point of view.

lol the ref that opens the door so the wrestler (read: superstar) can just walk out the cage in slowmotion.

When a guy gets out through the door you're supposed to believe that that person incapacitated their opponent(s) to the point where they can't prevent the escape. It's more of a decisive victory if the person just walks out so it'd really just be used in a squash. It's barely ever used anyway. I agree that it shouldn't end by pinfall or submission, that does seem to render the whole concept pointless.

Thanks for your opinions on it. What you said makes a lot of sense, especially the Face/Heel aspect (i.e. the Face winning respectably and the Heel essentially running away/escaping). I always thought the Hell in a Cell was more "the cage is there just for a weapon", and that in a cage match you should more specifically escape the cage itself. I just thought it might be a little more exciting (and add variety over regular matches) if they actually have to escape - they could even be inventive in ways to escape rather than always just climbing up and out. Although, like you said, the fact you can win so many different ways also adds that element of excitement and wondering what will happen next.

Thanks for your reply :)

Actually the last couple of cage matches the only way they could win was escape the cage, as announced. This was the first in a while (in WWE) that I've seen you can win via pin or submission

well i see tha cage as a weapon also so it can work as a normal match too, but i agree that to make cage matches more interesting it should be in an escape only way

i agree wit what u guys are sayin but at the same time the cage can also be used to prevent interference i.e. a face superstar facing off against the leader of a heel stable

even tho sometimes intereference still happens
