View Full Version : Did You Get Your Money's Worth At Destination X 2011?

I have to say I thought Destination X was a solid PPV and it delivered to a level where I felt I got my money's worth. Was it great? Not really, but it was still good enough. I felt the TNA Contract Fatal Four Way Match was sick. Absolutely amazing. Aries, Evans, Low-Ki, and Ion stole the fucking show. All of them are great and I hope TNA signs them all. This company needs as many great talents as they can get. RVD vs Jerry Lynn surprised me. That was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Props to both guys for putting on the best match they could.
I had my problems of course. First off, who the fuck is Mark Haskins and why is he on a show I have to PAY to see? His wrestling isn't even all that great; it is just decent. Joe lost to Kaz? Why? Gen Me lost to Eric Young and Stone Cold Shark Boy? WHY? Immortal interfering in the X-division championship match and ruining the entire idea of the next holder looking strong if he beat Abyss cleanly? WHY WHY WHY? Ughhhh. Then we got the disappointing (yet still good amazingly) main event match between Styles and Daniels. They just seemed .... off. Idk. I just felt they could have delivered a better and stronger match.
Anyways, the PPV was good and worth my money. What are your thoughts?

8/10. Good PPV, but some people are over rating it. Daniels and Styles and the Ultimate X match could of been way better, then it could of been a 10/10 like some people are saying. But yes, flaws were there. I differ with you about Kaz, I'm glad he won. I'm also glad EY and Shark Boy won, Generation Me is going to break up soon, there's no reason for them to win, and losing adds to the whole breaking up thing. Fatal Four way was epic as hell. If TNA doesn't sign the other 3 guys..WWE, most likely ROH needs to go after them. Oh, and that spot where Lynn like threw RVD backwards onto that chair was SICK.

best TNA PPV in ages,in fact,as far as the in ring content goes, this was better than Wrestlemania, bar Taker/HHH.
TNA should focus more on its talented workers putting on great macthes than trying to put together complicated and week storylines.

WAY BETTER than Mania.

It sounded like a great PPV, but there was one problem.
These feuds come out of thin air, it is difficult for someone who tends to only catch PPV's to keep up on who's face or heel etc.

Not really, I didn't watch a single Impact leading up to the PPV, and I understood the story of every single match. You can watch this PPV if you saw no build up to it and still enjoy the fuck out of it, I know I did.

Nah zeus is right, a lot of these matches weren't really "thrown together" but the build up wasn't the best. They buried kendrick for weeks (didn't build him up to a big win) then he sneaks a win and celebrates like he beat abyss clean?
I get the story though, make kendrick look like he has no chance and steal a win. It also looks like immortal is ending too which is great! :) Glad to see they are scrapping the Fail World Order.
Aj and Daniels was a 'celebration' match of sorts as they are two of the most well known X-Division stars. Ultimate X is always thrown together just like money in the bank. The 4 way contract had 4 big names that would all benefit the X-division and really can't wait for that one.
I've not watched any impacts in the past month, but the storylines are there, just TNA booking doesn't make them clear enough sometimes.
I'm looking forward to watching this PPV because i do appreciate wrestling and spot fests and the spoilers did a good job of selling it to me (I'm in the UK so have to wait til wednesday =[).
Deluxe, they just wanted to put sharkboy and Young on the card.. I still think they could've got loads of combos to make it a bigger card - Have an X-division international tag team match?
Have 3 teams - Gen me, Team Mexico and Team Japan? Could've used some AAA talents or even call upon regular World Cup participants like Puma and shocker. I'd definitely love to see them give a shout out to the best part of the x-division - the world cup!!
Haskings was on the show as a way to introduce a new talent...i get that, but wrong show. People were expecting a big name return, which it should have been.

Some people let the littlest things ruin the PPV for them which is kinda ridiculous. Styles/Daniels was't their best match but it wasn't terrible either. It was very good mat wrestling from Styles and Daniels and it was a good match.

I have to agree with WWTNA, it was way better than Miz vs. John Cena in that I Quit match at Over The Limit.

Better than John Cena vs Jobber, the theme of the WWE Main Event scene for the last 6 years

They've already broken up and apparently got right back together, without much build before or after.
The PPV was alright, I personally enjoyed the 4-way, however, some of the matches you just tell the finish was coming, minutes before it came.
EY/SB(Shoulda been lethal) should not have won, as they were just thrown together for the lulz. EY's finisher was amazing though.

Sorry man but what is your point there? Any match from any other show was better than that piece of crap, and I am including all divas matches from last month too.
The PPV was OK, the big matches were really cool, yes for me there were a few flaws here and there but just by watch RVD VS Lynn, Styles VS Daniels and the fatal 4 way were worth it.

you almost covered everything mate except several things that I think the deffrent
First, I think immortals interference was right on the spot and the X division coming to the aid of Brian Kendrick was also a right move. Keep in mind that this match was not about making Kendrick look strong because if it was you wouldnt see Abyss mainly dominating that match. This is about the X Division and the unity of it and in my openion the move that they did was very much right for the storyline that they have {to show that they back up each other against the outsiders(immortals)} and the way I saw it the whole match was just a build up for those assaults at the end so I kinda enjoyed that the title is back home with the X division.
Douglas williams vs Mark Haskins: in my openion this match didnt desierve to be on PPV. I welcome every newcomer and I enjoy the work of every new wrestling talent but i felt that this match was out of its place. I would mind see it on Impact but on PPV?! COME ON PEOPLE!!
Joe and Kaz was all about Starting the show. I didnt realy care who lost and who won, both of them had a decent match. However I love to see the storyline between those continue and get bigger and bigger so finaly we would have a main event level of a match with a huge meaning and purpose to it.
I realy dont know what happend to all the build up and hyping of the main event between Aj and Daniels because it was realy boring to me I felt that the competation between those two has become realy stale and its just need to stop, dont get me wrong I like both of them but I believe that they brought up everything that they have when it comes to them fighting each other. Eather that or just one of them was off his game last night. I realy dont know :S

Shade, on your joe/kaz and brian point.
They coulda did what they did for Aj/Ray with Brian. Abyss dominates but cannot, by any means, put Kendrick down. I think that would have made Kendrick look much stronger than he did, as he was effectively beaten.
For Joe/Kaz, it probably won't go anywhere. Joe has the BFG series to worry about and feuding with Kaz won't give him any points towards that.

What i am saying is that people take apart Destination X like it was WWE's Over The Limit. That's my point. The PPV deserves a 8/10 IMO. The matches were awesome. All of the matches were good. And Brain Kendrick is the new X Division champion. I watched it and it was awesome.

Don't over-analyze this pay per view guys...it was (too quote The Miz) Awesome! Samoa Joe beating the shit out of Kaz, only to lose to a quick roll-up; Ultimate X was good, good chemistry with 4 wrestlers seemingly just put together for the hell of it; RVD/Lynn, what else can be said about that one, GREAT match I thought; 4-Way Contract Match, Match of the Year runner up to Davey Richards/Eddie Edwards ROH World Title match; Kendrick defeating Abyss and bringing the X-Division title back where it belongs, I mean c'mon, everyone knew Immortal was going to get involved; And a VERY SOLID mat-based, pure wrestling skill showdown between Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles, was that match the greatest, NO!, but it DIDN'T need to be! Best pay per view they've done in quite some time, 10/10.

And you are right, Over the limit was not that good of a PPV, like I said in my opinion just for the 3 matches mentioned before, it was worth it.
But you also need to realize that not everyone is going to like it, one or two or maybe even more will thing it was crap, IMO it was not but everyone is entitle to their opinion.

According to WrestlingObserver.com the buyrates were at 8,000 buys. I will preface this by saying TNA doesn't put their numbers out there to the public as they do not have to. I don't care much for WO but when it comes to numbers they have been dead on many times, often proved correct when the quaterly conference calls occur so when it comes to buyrates I do trust them.
You can either see it as good in that without much push (the go home show was more about the title match occuring after the PPV) and the PPV still did the same or you can see it as some backstage in TNA might think that since this PPV didn't shatter any numbers that the X Division might just continue to be swept under the rug.
Also how can Dixie Carter see those numbers and not make a creative change? If you're drawing over a million viewers on Spike and only inspire 8,000 of those viewers to order your pay-per-view, then clearly you're doing something horribly wrong.
