View Full Version : Booker T Commentary

It seems like everybody hates Book on the commentary i have to seriously disagree he may mispronounce here or there but he actually brings this sense of reality and unpredictable aura. It's like he gets so excited from the action in ring he can't control what he says and to me i find that entertaining and noble.

Now hear me out being that he is a wrestler that has been active in ring the last 3-4 years (TNA) he still has that passion for the action in ring like only a wrestler would every pinfall and move. He literally jumps out his seat and hypes the match up like he pays attention to every little detail of the match unlike J.r., Cole,Stryker. He (Booker) never goes off topic what ever is going on in the ring he's on it giving up a play by play of what's going on in the ring. Albeit he may get repetitive in his catch phrases it's fun to listen to him get emotionally invested in the match.

Hell he can even hype up a Kelly kelly match and make it seem like it's a modern day Aja kong vs Madusa going on in the ring lol. I just think people are too harsh on the guy i mean he has been a wrestler his entire time in pro wrestling don't expect him to come in Gorilla moonson esque calling matches.

Your thoughts?

Ima tell it to you like this dawg. Booker T is laugh-a-minute awesome on commentary.
Anyone who says otherwise deserves a sidewalk slam.

I like his commentary. I just think he needs to find better subjects for filler time & pay attention. At least once a week Cole will ask him a question & he'll give an answer that has nothing to do with the question.

I'm glad there are some other people that like his commentating, I find him entertaining myself...Michael Cole on the other hand..

Ugh don't get me started on Cole i know he's a heel but there's a difference between a good heel and an annoying one Cole falls in the last catergory. I find myself literally wanting to turn the channel when he goes on those ridiculous rants. God forbid Daniel bryan is in the ring time to mute the t.v.

Agreed but i think he and Cole don't like each other too much in real life. Everything Booker says Cole basically insults him personally. Like a few weeks back he made a reference to Booker being stupid because he has a GED. There may be some real heat between those two.

I think Booker is awesome at commentating, atleast he makes me smile :)

Lol same here i find his flubbs entertaining like i said he may mispronounce and have his inaudible moments but they're entertaining and i always get a chuckle out of it.

I love Booker T's commentary it always makes me laugh. And I enjoy hearing him talk way more than Micheal Cole. With all the shit Cole talks to Booker on the mic, I'm waiting for him to go over and kick Cole ass.

I really disliked him the first month or so but then you learn to love him. It's sort of the "so bad it's good thing", and once you embrace that and what his role really is, he's just hilarious and awesome. I think he's great on commentary now. Best thing on Smackdown.

Hes there for comedic and entertainment value. Hes not the main commentator and at least he actually talks. Fairplay hes no Jerry Lawler, Tazz or Paul Heyman but those guys did it to a very high standard.

I have absolutely no issue with Booker T's commentating. I think his biggest downfall is that he either trips up over his own words or he forgets to breathe an keeps on talking until' he starts going into robo mode. He knows what he is saying half of the time an I think that if he prepared himself more speech wise then he could probably be on par with some of the commentators that he is often seen sharing a table with.

He has already improved alot since he started. The first time he tried commentating in TNA he was just annoying.

Anouncing in the WWE ha to be hard as hell, imagine trying to announce a match with Vince screaming at you the whole time. Vince thinks he is the greatest announcer of all time, so nomatter how good you are your still going to catch hell from him. Hell he's fired or sent JR home how many times? And Jr is the best of all time.

Same here that's why i like his commentating style he brings the most ridiculous yet funny one liners out and you can't help but to laugh.
I wish They would put Booker in a match with Cole so he can kick coles annoying a$% all over the ring would love to see him scissor kicked.

Right he's there for entertainment purposes and he does a good job at it i wasn't expecting him to come in and deliver flawless journalism that would be stupid. He's the comedic relief guy who's so bad it's good i would rather listen to Booker make hilarious off the wall comments during a match than Cole bitching at a match and its participants for 10 mintues.

Exactly he's there for comedic/entertainment purposes i enjoy his laugh out loud rants nothing wrong with a little slap sticht comedy too get ones mind off that Cole character. *shivers*

That's what i mentioned in my OP he mispronounces/fumbles words here and there but like i said he's no Gorilla moonson and to expect him to be a flawless on the spot talker is a bit farfetched. He'll get better in time until then i'll enjoy listening to his comical commentating just enjoy it for what it is entertainment.

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!"

Made me laugh so hard.

And OP, you said JR doesn't get emotionally involved? I believe since he's returned he's been told not to say much, but when he was the main man he was into every match. if that doesn't convince you, watch Taker vs Mankind, theres all your evidence. Least we didn't have "Vintage Undertaker!"

Eh...I mean it's somewhat better then Michael Cole and Jerry Lawyer, sucking the dick of whoever is a heel or face. The commentators usually sound so...fake.

His commentary really is annoying though, but in a hilarious way. Like making fun of someone with down syndrome...they could bug you a little bit, but the things they say and do to other people just kinda make you laugh.

09-21-2011, 09:23 AM
Bookers most important quality is that he's neutral, he's alright. It sets up funny segments with Cole, which is also alright in my opinion. Yes, he really favors the heels but that fits his character as a heel himself.

With Jerry Lawler I get annoyed, it's normal to favor the faces when you're a face but as a face you shouldn't go up their asses completely. I think Matt Striker should replace him on Smackdown commentary, he knows the names the moves, stays pretty neutral while still commentating as a face-type commentator and is ocasionally funny.

Book is the man & he is a breath of fresh air on Smackdown. Do you guys see his face when Cody's baggers hand him a bag everytime they come out? LOLOLOL That is some funny stuff! Or when he's doing commentary and he says: "Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww dat boy is just rag taggin right der". LOLOLOLOLOL That dude is hilarious! Oh and not to mention he may be the only guy that has come out and said John Cena has "limited skills" hahah.

SkilletBoi

LMAO i love Booker T at commentary he is funny and when he gets really into the match you cant even understand him sometimes but it dosent bother me i just start cracking up remember the E is for Entertainment and Booker gives us that.

for example at NoC when Kevin Nash came through the crowd most commentators would be like "WHAT? KEVIN NASH WHAT IS HE DOING HERE, HE'S SUPPOST TO BE FIRED" not Booker when he saw Kevin Nash he got excited about the TNA days and said "THATS MY BIG HOMIE!!!!" LMAO

"BATISTA IS DOWN, BATISTA IS DOWN, BATISTA IS DOWN"
