Writing a blog like this with this kind of language is going to tug at people in the wrong way . You had to have known this ! And you obviously knew this was going to piss people off . In that thought its obvious you are not a wrestling fan or { and I would go so far as to say } not a fan of this site . Its a shame they let you post this .
I recall an essay I once read where someone could not understand how some people and the WWE could villify and erase murderer Chris Benoit, but praise Eddie Guerrero. The point was that Eddie was being praised after his death even though he was basically a monster after the car wreck in 1999 that almost killed him. He was addicted to pain killers and was known for beating Vickie and just being a living hell for his family. Benoit and Guerrero are basically the same; Eddie was just able to get his demons under control in time to save his legacy
I honestly laughed when I saw "35 comments" (at the time) as I never thought a hate letter could dig up that amount of responses. In part of clarification, this blog is obviously a direct response to the previous letter that was written about Benoit, and obviously I am not a medical doctor nor a psychiatrist. Here's the thing, I don't really care about Benoit, I would never have made this blog randomly just to bash him. Hell, I hadn't written a blog in a few weeks on any topic. However, my direct non-apologetic comments are part show and are amped up to prove a point. I do know that his brain became scrambled eggs, and yes I realize that because his brain was the said eggs that he wasn't himself. I get that, I've seen enough people with mental issues. However, the blog isn't about attacking Benoit, it's about those who try to honor him and brush what happened under the rug. This is what "defending Chris Benoit" sounds like on the opposite foot to someone who thinks he is a terrible person. That is what the blog that honored his legacy came across to me, a blatant "WTF!?". Can I admit that he was a good wrestler? Yes, he was a great wrestler. That doesn't discount what happened. As for the OJ comment, actually I should have clarified that a bit more because the murder wasn't the only point I was trying to get across, it was the idea that there was/is a large group of people who defend him to the end because of an illogical reason (his race/played football [take your pick]). You can look at Joe Paterno's Legacy as another example as one terrible thing completely shredding his legacy in the eyes of many and making many conflicted reactions. The point of the blog is the line that being famous doesn't discount your actions. That's it. The hateful language just got it all across so nicely and like Rob said, was made to give a direct counterpoint to someone who on their own wanted to randomly honor him. As for the guy making fun of my pony. It's OK, haters gonna hate.
Everyone has their opinion but there there are two simple facts, one-Chris was one of the best wrestlers ever and two-he was a murderer, end of story.
I agree with every single point you just made, streak. I cannot believe that people have the audacity to say he should be remembered for his in-ring work. Absolute bullshit. He took away the lives of two innocent people methodically and deliberately. He obviously planned it, seeing as he contacted the company to no-show the PPV. "Yes I know he killed his wife and child.... but by god was he one hell of a truck driver!! Please let's forget about what he did at the end... let's just remember him for the amazing truck driver that he was!!!" From Muzza_H16. This all over. What are your opinions on Ted Bundy? Why is that different?
i AGREE, ROT IN HELL!
YES, YES, YES!
