This makes me think of the Tag Team Match years ago.. Vince and Shane against Shawn Michaels and God.. Just ridiculousness
I love how the IWC think cheap heat is bad lmao. Everyone does cheap heat.

As an Atheist myself, this would NEVER work. America just loves their religion way too much. If WWE tried this there would be boycotts and parents would not let their kids watch it because it could sway their beliefs. This could work overseas where religion is less of a factor but not in today's America.

I think if WWE introduced a political candidate gimmick that spewed the shit from one party they would get a similar reaction. They say never talk about religion and politics. Wrestling should never use either as a gimmick. Look how well Linda did just being tied to wrestling, haha.

    Regardless, great blog!

Great blog. I've often thought about this too.
I'm sure Undertaker is athiest. His wife Michelle is Catholic though I believe; so maybe he's had a change of heart.
He was certainly atheist during 1998 from what I've been informed.

Great blog. Well written. I'm an atheist and I, for one, would absolutely love an atheist wrestler. I don't know that we will ever see one that flat out says that they believe in god, but I think we have some guys, past and present who almost fit the bill. Guys like ECW era Raven, Damien Sandow, and of course CM Punk, who has said on numerous occasions that he is an atheist. That being said I think the gimmick could work well for Damien Sandow. You wouldn't even need to change his character you could tack on the fact that he is antsiest. The other guy I could see pulling it off would be Dean Ambrose. Once he breaks away from the Shield, you could have start cutting promos abouts the lack of a god. I think though in the end the subject is a little touchy for the WWE to handle considering their fanbase.

Interesting topic, but I think you're reading a little too much in to it. Most wrestlers are atheist
