Another episode of Smackdown has come and gone, which means it’s now time to start Talking Smack!

The Standout

There were a few things that stood out to me on this week’s episode. The first being the unification of Team Hell No. Finally, they are on the same page. All it took was them to get beat down by the Shield on Raw.

The second thing that stood out was Damien Sandow. His segment before his match was hysterical. The fact that Cody Rhodes is injured and the WWE is going to continue pushing Sandow speaks volumes. I doubt that the Prime Time Playas would get the same treatment if one of them were to get injured.

The final thing that stood out to me was the lack of things. I’m talking about the lack of Booker T and the lack of that ridiculous divas storyline involving a blonde wig. I’m sorry, but they’ve been pushing that down the Universe’s throat for months now, and the only advancement in the story is that Aksana admitted to wearing the wig and attacking Kaitlyn. Yet no one seemed to care about that. NO ONE! Not even Kaitlyn. So thank you WWE for doing the right thing and ending that storyline.

The Breakdown

So that no one questions it, I will openly admit that I am not a John Cena fan. I remember his debut against Kurt Angle. I didn’t like him then and I don’t like him now. However, I can see why some people would like him, and I’m not going to bash them for that. I have simply never cared for him.

With that said, I was disappointed, but curious, to see the show starting off with John Cena showing up. It IS Smackdown after all. For the great John Cena to come to the “B” show it must be for some earth shattering reason. I mean, he just beat Dolph Ziggler on Monday so that storyline is over. It has to be the start of something bigger and better. Nope…..John Cena came to Smackdown to brag about beating Dolph Ziggler. Way to go Cena! You overcame the immovable monstrosity known as Dolph Ziggler. That’s right up there with me bragging about tying my shoes. It’s something that I should be able to do easily, it’s something everyone else expects me to do easily, but for some strange reason even when I do exactly what everyone is expecting me to do I need to brag about it.

So there’s that, and then Alberto del Rio comes out…..and starts talking. Not only was he talking but he was talking about nothing. He’s always talking about nothing. Alberto del Rio is the Seinfeld of wrestling. Then Cena decides to make a match and he can do this because he’s John Cena.

I will say this, this match was pretty decent and one of favorite of the night. They both hit some nice spots, and there was a lot of back and forth action. I did notice that Cena’s knee injury that shows up when he fights against Ziggler didn’t show up here, but whatever. Injuries have a way of not remembering storylines too.

Great Khali vs David Otunga – Why?

Team Hell No and Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barret and Prime Time Playas was entertaining, even with the predictability of the match. I do love that we’re still weeks away from the TLC PPV and there is an actual storyline for the Intercontinental Championship. Also, did you see the way Titus O’Neil threw Daniel Bryan? Sick.

The Damien Sandow vs. Tyson Kidd match was just done to give Sandow some momentum. That’s fine with me, because more wins and air time can only be a good thing when it comes to this superstar.

The Usos vs. 3MB. I guess the good thing here is that the members of 3MB are finally starting to win matches. You can only watch people job so many times. I’m just a little peeved that it had to happen at the Usos expense.

The Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler match was definitely my favorite match of the night. This is the feud I want to see. I don’t believe that Ziggler can beat John Cena, not in his current form anyway. I think he would have a better shot at beating Sheamus. The matches that these two could have would be top notch, as was proven by this match. Sadly, the Big Show got involved and then Cena got involved. That means either on Raw or Smackdown we are going to get a tag match involving these four. Sigh.

Key Players

Damien Sandow
Dolph Ziggler
Sheamus

Thanks for reading this issue of Talking Smack. Do you feel the same? Have a different view point? Let me know in the comment section.

With only a few hours away from Survivor Series, it’s timeto start Talking Smack. I apologize tomy regular readers for missing the past two weeks. We could blame it on a busy schedule, butthat’s not true. The fault fully fallson to WWE 13 for taking up my time. Howdare you entrance me with your flashing lights, WWE 13? How dare you!

The Standout

If WWE is going to insist on turning the Miz face then I’mglad this episode wasn’t a full face turn. He still had his ego, he still had his sneakiness, and he still hadeverything that made him the Miz. Sokudos for a slow face turn. It would beawwwwesoomme if they made him a true tweener, but Vince tends to panic whensomeone’s not fully good or fully bad.

The Breakdown

I’m not sure how I feel about the “previously on” segmentsat the beginning of the shows. I dothink that WWE does them better than TNA, but they stole the idea fromTNA! Instead of copying other companies, they should be leading the pack. That’salso the wrong thing to be copying. Theyshould be copying the way other companies push their women’s division, or thefact that mid-carders actually have the change to become main eventers. Anyway…

Miz TV has Mick Foley coming out and showing concern thatthere’s “two Mizes”. Really? Really? Simply because he got voted by theWWE Universe to be on Team Foley doesn’t mean there are two Mizes. There’s one Miz; the egomaniac that thinkshe’s better than he really is. UnlessMick is referring to the Miz that use to wear a fedora and dance around. If there were a chance that THAT Miz couldshow up then I’d be concerned too.

Then Mick has the rest of Team Foley come out. Why does Randy Orton always look bored? Then Team Ziggler comes out. I’m kind of glad that everyone on both teams remembersthat they don’t get along. However, whenMick booked the tag match it shouldn’t have been Orton and Miz facing Zigglerand del Rio, it should have been Kofi and Miz. They’ve been feuding for the past month. Kofi even threatened to kick Miz in the face in that very segment. If anyone needs to work on teamwork it’s gotto be those two. Orton pushes over aposter, and all of a sudden they can’t function as a team?

Kofi Kingston vs Damien Sandow. I expected better. To me, Kofi seems like he’s always holdingback or that he’s scared to do his moves. Remember how Tori Wilson use to do that jump in place thing before sheattacked her opponent? That’s what Kofi does too. Almost like he’s unsure of himself. Regardless, he’s in control of the entirematch until Sandow does the most dangerous move in wrestling, the roll up. Noone escapes the roll up. How couldyou? You’re rolled up.

Eve, Aksana, & Alicia Fox vs. Kaitlyn, Layla, andNatalya. I love Layla, I hate that shecries every time she gets hit. Kaitlynis still a bit clunky, but I think if she fine tune’s her skill she’ll beextremely dominate.

Every single Booker T-Sheamus segment is the exactsame. Booker T tells him not do to dosomething. Sheamus says nopromises. Then Booker threatens withrepercussions, but doesn’t follow through. Dude, you’re the boss! See,that’s the problem. I don’t think BookerT believes he’s the boss. I know Idon’t. I believe that Vince McMahon isthe boss. I believed that JohnLaurinitis was in charge. I neverbelieved that AJ, Teddy Long, or Booker T were in charge.

Randy Orton/Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler/Albert del Rio. Did ADR just come out in the Back to theFuture car? Again, I liked that Mizstole the win. It shows that he’sstaying as pretty much the same character. Since none of these people were said to get along, I would have liked tosee more breakdowns within the teams.

So Sheamus spent most of the show in the parking lot waitingfor Big Show to show up. Then he goesout to the ring and calls the Big Show out, and he comes out. I guess Sheamus was waiting in the wrongspot. Also, Sheamus has knocked out referees, body guards, announcers, andanybody that’s gotten in his way. Heshould have done the same to Booker T. Instead he just leaves.

I was looking forward to the Kane vs. Wade Barrett match theentire show. A minute in to it TeamZiggler interferes followed by Team Foley. Fantastic. This is the match theydecide not to have?

Antonio Cesaro vs. Sin Cara was actually really good. This would have to be the match of thenight. It was short, but it wasgood. Since Sin Cara has joined the WWEI have thought that he was overhyped. Iwas really impressed with him in this match. I would rather watch this again then this Sunday’s Ceasro/R-Truth matchup.

In the Big Show vs the Great Khali match, Big Show had theexact same expression on his face that I did. Not because Khali is a potential threat to Big Show, but that we had towatch this. I like how WWE thinks weforget who the jobbers are. Khali isseven feet tall, he must be a threat. Except for the fact that his matches are two minutes long and he’s onthe losing end. To Khali’s credit, hedid manage to actually kick out of a pin. I couldn’t understand why Big Show was selling it so much, but whatever.

After the match Sheamus attacks Big Show back stage. They get in to it and destroy a fewcars. It ends with Booker T draggingSheamus away after Sheamus left Big Show laying on the ground. Where are the repercussions you mentionedearlier, Booker? You even kicked Sheamusout of the building and he came back. Yeah, you’re in charge alright.

Key Players

The Miz

When the second best match of the evening is a Diva’s tag match, that means you’re probably watching Smackdown, which means it’s time to start Talking Smack.

The Standout

Speaking of talking smack, the standout this week was me. I win this award for being able to sit through this entire week’s episode and still have the strength to carry on in life. Believe me, there were moments where I felt like giving up, but did not for the sake of the hundreds of people that read this blog each week.

But seriously, I would have to go with JBL again. He was killing it on commentary. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I loved his current role on the WWE, and he was still impressing this week.

The Breakdown

As Randy Orton makes his way to the ring, Josh Mathews starts rehashing the current rivalry between Orton and Alberto del Rio. He mentions that ADR attacked Orton an month ago costing him being the #1 contender. Why did ADR do this? “All because Randy Orton delivered a RKO to Alberto del Rio earlier that night.” All because? That actually seems like a pretty good reason to me. What was ADR suppose to do? “Aww shucks. Randy Orton RKO’ed me. That rascal.”

So anyway, ADR and Randy Orton start talking back and forth how they are both apex predators. ADR is repeating himself, and Randy looks like he’s drunk. Then Wade Barrett attacks him from behind. Why? Apparently Alberto del Rio asked him to. What?

The Kane vs. Cody Rhodes match was a little sloppy for my tastes. They weren’t quite executing their moves on each other probably. The highlight though was the guest commentary from Daniel Bryan and Damien Sandow. When Daniel Bryan said that “Kane is going to dysfunction Cody’s face.” I about lost it.

The Miz vs. Yoshi Tatsu. Really? Really? Really. This match was just done to give Miz momentum going in to Hell in a Cell. Too bad that all it did was show that Miz can beat low card Superstars. If you want to give the Miz momentum then you have to have him beat higher caliber Superstars. Have him beat Randy Orton, Big Show, Sheamus, or even Dolph Ziggler. Giving Miz an easy win doesn’t prove to me that he can beat Kofi Kingston.

We go backstage where Booker T and Teddy Long are with Eve, Aksana, Kaitlyn, and Layla. Teddy mentions the “proof” that he has against Eve. However, Aksana confessed that she was the one that attacked Kaitlyn based on Eve’s orders, and no one did anything. The mystery is whether or not Eve actually orchestrated it, but the FACT is that Aksana ADMITTED that she was the attacker, and no one blinked an eye. Booker T spoke truth when he said, “I’m sick of all this drama.”

I actually called the Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett match wrong. I guessed that ADR would interfere, and I guessed that Barrett would get the upper hand because of that. I assumed that Orton would still pull off the win, because that’s what he does. So kudos to WWE for letting Randy Orton lose. Kudos also to Wade Barrett for the win. He needed that after the matches with Sheamus. I honestly hope he’s not going to be some type of “for hire” guy, since that’s essentially what Alberto del Rio asked of Barrett.

Layla and Kaitlyn vs. Eve and Aksana was actually a solid match. It wasn’t a 5-star match by any means, but definitely a step in the right direction for the Diva’s division. Kaitlyn was looking like a boss too. I might think about putting the title on her in WWE 13.

Earlier in the night, Booker T asked Big Show not to beat up Sheamus in their face to face later that evening, to which Big Show (heel) said that he wouldn’t. Now when Booker T asked the same to Sheamus (face) he said he wasn’t going to promise anything and that it was more than likely going to happen. To which Booker T simply walked away. What? Can you do that? Can your boss tell you to do something, and you tell him or her no I’m going to do the opposite, and he or she is cool with that? I might have to try that sometime.

Daniel Bryan vs. Damien Sandow was an awesome match. I haven’t really warmed up to Sandow, but I can see that he is an incredible talent. I would love to see a feud between the two of these Superstars. I bet they could put on some unforgettable matches. I understand that they were giving one win to Team Hell No and the other to Team Rhodes Scholars, but I was really hoping to see Daniel Bryan win. He’s proven that he belongs in the main event picture, I just hope they aren’t trying to bring him back down to mid-card level.

The face to face with Big Show and Sheamus was nothing new. They’ve had five weeks to build this rivalry, with both wrestlers appearing on Smackdown and Raw, and they have done nothing with it. Instead they have had debates and feats of strength. Even in this face to face, that had a billion security guards in between them, they were arguing over who had the better finishing move. Then Sheamus (face) gets all hot and bothered and attacks the Big Show (heel) for no reason. Then when the security guards are trying to do their job, Sheamus starts attacking them and borough kicking them. How is he a face? How is he not fired? It’s that whole mentality in the WWE that good guys can do whatever they want and it’s justified. It can be frustrating at times.

Key Players
Daniel Bryan
Damien Sandow
JBL

Thanks for reading this week’s Talking Smack. Remember we’ve got Hell in a Cell on Sunday, Raw on Monday, and WWE 13 on Tuesday. Good times! Make sure to leave your comment below.

Another week of the WWE’s “B-Show” is in the books, which means it is time to start Talking Smack!

The Standout

Believe it or not, but the thing that stood out the most to me was the opening segment of Miz TV. First off, the Miz was killing it on the mic. His comment to Daniel Bryan of “I bet your friends at the betting zoo think you’re hilarious” was awwwwesome! Not only was the Miz hilarious, but he also punked out Booker T by calling him predictable and naming the second match that I thought Booker was going to announce. Instead, Booker announced the first match I figured he would. So Miz was correct, Booker is predictable.

Kane and Daniel Bryan going back and forth, Big Show threatening Bryan, Kane threatening Big Show, Dolph Ziggler throwing in his two cents, and Miz punking Booker were all extremely entertaining. It was nice to finally start off a Smackdown with some excitement.

The Breakdown

The matches that Booker T set up didn’t make sense to me, not with what was going on in the ring anyway. He should have made a handicap match of Team Hell No vs. The Big Show. Why? Because even though Big Show’s main feud is with Sheamus, his more interesting lesser feud is with the tag team champions. The second match should have been Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz. Why? Because if they are going to have the Miz lose, the Dolph could have used the win.

Instead we get Randy Orton vs. The Miz, which results in Miz’s third loss THIS WEEK! Wow! Who did he make mad? The most frustrating part of this match was that it kept panning to the balcony where Alberto del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez are watching. They even had Matt Stryker interview him during the match. For a brief second when Rodriguez grabbed the microphone and answered Matt Stryker in English, I got super excited. The WWE was actually listening to me! Then ADR took the microphone again, and all my dreams were smashed.

Team Rhode Scholars vs. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd had Kidd flying all over the ring. It was nice to see him working that aggressively and smoothly. Cody Rhodes’ finishing move was sick, and I think I felt it connect from my couch.

Eve is starting to grow on me as a heel and character. The way she is lurking in the shadows and plotting her next move shows that she is in this power struggle with Teddy Long. Plus, her acting is starting to improve slightly. Also, why does Booker T always have to go to a meeting whenever Eve and Teddy are undermining each other right in front of him? What type of boss wouldn’t want to get to the bottom of this, especially when it’s been going on for weeks? And who is he always meeting during the middle of a show that he’s supposed to be running?

Team Hell No vs. The Big Show and Dolph Ziggler ended like almost every other match with Ziggler in it: he lost. It’s also hard for me to believe that this is the same Daniel Bryan that was going toe to toe with CM Punk in some epic matches just a few months ago. He was getting thrown around by both Big Show and Ziggler. It’s almost as if he’s been de-powered. You’re de-powering the wrong superstar. Come on WWE, it’s basic thuganomics. However, I did like that another tag team inserted themselves in the tag champs business. We’re a week away from Hell in the Cell and they finally started this feud.

I was surprised to see Ted DiBiase vs. Antonio Cesaro mainly because I though DiBiase was dead, or at the very least MIA.

They couldn’t have put the Brodus Clay vs. Heath Slater match on Superstars?

Let me get this straight; Layla starts crying in her match against Natalya and then somehow overcomes and beats her? I love Layla, but that is ridiculous.

Backstage, Teddy Long gives Kaitlyn Eve’s iPad that supposedly has some incriminating evidence on it concerning who attacked Kaitlyn. I’m calling it, Teddy is setting Eve up. He was handling the iPad. He could have easily put something on it. Plus, Eve said she found a blond wig in Teddy’s stuff.

I feel like I’ve already seen the Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett match…..I can’t put my finger on it….Oh wait, this is different because it’s a lumberjack match. One where the lumberjacks do absolutely nothing, except erupt in to an all lumberjack brawl. Didn’t see that coming.

However, the ending did make me alert. I was on the edge of my seat when Dolph Ziggler was about to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but then Big Show happened. Why wouldn’t Big Show let him do it? He’s still the number one contender. Wouldn’t it be easier for him to beat Ziggler than Sheamus? Think, Big Show, think.

Welcome one and all to the latest Talking Smack, the wrestling blog in which we attempt to break down this week’s Smackdown.

The Standout

This week’s standout has got to go to JBL on commentary. He does his job extremely well. There were a few times that I found myself paying more attention to the commentary than the actual match. Even though he’s a heel commentator, I really liked that he would compliment and criticize both faces and heels. To me, this is more unbiased commentary than anything the face announcers do. They sing the praises of the good guys no matter what the good guys do, even if it’s illegal. Sheamus steals and destroys Albert del Rio’s car; ADR had it coming. Edge kidnaps Paul Bearer; Kane shouldn’t have provoked Edge. And so forth. JBL calls it as down the middle as he can while still being a heel commentator, and that is impressive to me.

The Breakdown

The show opens with a match of Big Show vs. Sheamus to decide who has the most devastating finishing move. Booker T decided on this “match” because of the buzz going around the WWE Universe. Is he talking about a WWE Alternate Universe? Because I haven’t heard one person debate this. Regardless, I feel for Big Show in this. I don’t think any one is taking this match seriously, Sheamus certainly isn’t. Booker T isn’t, or he wouldn’t be making debates and skills tests.

The previous leads to a Sheamus vs. Tensai match. Tensai has had a chip on his shoulder ever since Sheamus Borough Kicked him to one-up the Big Show. This is very realistic to me, and he has every right to go after Sheamus. I wouldn’t mind seeing an actual feud build from this. Tensai is a little bit slower in the ring than Sheamus, but the match was decent, and I could see some really good bouts stem from it.

We’ve got Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal against Santio Marella and Zack Ryder, and Zack Ryder is by far the best wrestler in the ring. That’s sad to me on a few levels. It shows that Zack has the skills to hang with the big boys, but the thing that got him over is the same thing that is holding him back. He needs to tweak his character a little bit. Another reason it’s sad is that , while every one that is in the ring can be entertaining, they’re all pretty much jobbers. So “The Band” is essentially a stable of jobbers. In their current state of goofballs playing air guitar, I can’t see them rising any higher than being a group of bullies. Also, Jinder Mahal needs to change his entrance gear, cause it doesn’t really flow with the other two guys.

Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler ended in a DQ, and I didn’t see any reason why it had to be that way. Usually the heel will attack his or her opponent with an object when he or she doesn’t feel that they can win that match. That wasn’t the case, no pun intended, here. It was give and take for both of them, and there was a little bit of time where Ziggler was in control of the match. This should have played itself out. If they are going to move Dolph Ziggler to the main event stage then he is going to have to be able to beat the WWE’s top-tier guys.

Afterwards there’s an altercation, and Daniel Bryan gets involved on Kane’s behalf. Even this was insulting to Kane? Come on guys, this is starting to get old. Then they both do their finishing moves on Matt Stryker. Exactly how are they not a heel team?

Why was Hornswaggle in a tiny dressing room by himself playing with a Randy Orton doll?

Remember earlier when I mentioned I found myself paying attention more to the commentary than the match? The Kofi Kingston vs. Big Show fight was that match. It was boring and a wasted opportunity. The Miz was at the commentary table watching the match. The opponents were Big Show, who knocked Miz out the previous week in an attempt to one-up Sheamus, and Kofi Kingston, who the Miz has been forced in to a feud with. Of course he’s going to get involved……but he doesn’t. Why not? Tensai went after Sheamus. Why wouldn’t the Miz naturally go after the Big Show? It’s okay to start naturally-progressing storylines, especially if you’re thinking beyond the next pay-per-view. However, Miz doesn’t get involved. In fact, he waits until after the match to go in the ring and mock Kofi. Then why was he at the commentary booth? He could have still done the same thing by coming out from the back. It’s upsetting to think that we were all hoping for a Miz/Ryback feud a couple of weeks ago, but instead we’re getting this Miz/Kofi one.

The Divas bickering sound like chipmunks on speed. They found a blond wig in Eve’s bag. First off, why were they going through her bags? Second, why would Eve carry that around with her almost a month after the incident? They need to finish this storyline soon, and I seriously hope Eve didn’t have anything to do with the attack on Kaitlyn.

Sin Cara vs. Damien Sandow was really disappointing. Especially considering that we were treated to a stellar match between Sandow and Sheamus not too long ago. I understand why Sin Cara has a lot of fans. He’s very acrobatic, and it can be fun to watch. However, I honestly think that he lowers the in-ring abilities of his competitors. I don’t know how he’s doing this, but I can tell the difference between when his opponents fight someone else and when they fight him.

I was incredibly impressed with Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto del Rio. For some reason, Sheamus/ADR wasn’t connecting with fans. However, I think a Daniel Bryan/ADR campaign could be very entertaining, especially if this match had anything to say about. Three things. 1. Daniel Bryan ripped up another fan’s sign. Again, how is he not a heel? So if he’s a face with heel tactics, why can’t CM Punk be a heel with face tactics? 2. Daniel Bryan tapped out! I did not see that happening, which made it even cooler. 3. Just as I’m about to put ADR on my “keep an eye on list” they went and gave him a microphone. WWE, why do you ruin awesome matches by insisting that Alberto del Rio do his own mic work? It’s not healthy for the WWE Universe to have to go through this multiple times a week. However, the way Randy Orton snuck up on him after the match was awesome. Robert Rodriguez gets involved and pays the price for that. I actually think it looks like it hurts more when the table doesn’t break, which it never seems to do for Randy Orton.

Welcome to Talking Smack #1. This is where I will be discussing the latest episode of Smackdown. There are a few blogs that focus on Raw, Impact, and even the Pay-Per-Views, but none that continually are dedicated to Smackdown. Here’s hoping that we change all that. There will be a learning curve for this as I try to see what works and what needs improvements. Let’s get in to it.

Stand Out

What stood out the most to me was that there were two Heel vs. Heel matches. Three, if you count Hell No taking on Albert del Rio and David Otunga. I say “if” because I’m not quite sure what they’re supposed to be. They’re crowd favorites and get pushed as such, but then you’ve got Daniel Bryan tearing up a little kid’s sign. That’s a d-bag move any way you slice it.

Anyways, I like the Heel vs. Heel thing, and I would like to see more of that and even Face vs. Face. I’m sorry, but just being a Face or a Heel doesn’t make you automatic BFFs with the other Faces and Heels.

Breakdown

The opening segment had Sheamus basically disrespecting the Big Show, which is fine because Sheamus disrespects everybody. What’s noteworthy about this is that Big Show looked like he was about to cry. Come on, man! You’re the Big Show, knock him out. Give Sheamus a taste of what he’s up against, and he’ll start respecting the match real quick.

Kofi and R-Truth vs. Prime Time Players was a decent match. That Titus O’Neil is a beast! Kofi did his normal spots, and they worked. I thought for a brief second that he was going to win the match. However, PTP advanced in the Tag Team Tournament and rightfully so. I believe that whenever PTP become the Tag Champs that they are going to dominate the division for a long time.

Ryback vs. Primo was just another match to show how powerful Ryback is. I got excited a few weeks ago when it looked like they were setting up a feud between Ryback and the Miz, which both of them need desperately. While Ryback would have run through the Miz, it still had the potential to be an interesting feud. Hopefully, the WWE will revisit it soon.

CM Punk shows up to confront Dolph Ziggler about walking out on their tag match on Raw. This results in a match between the two for later that night? Yes please!

One of the things I like about Smackdown is the added sound effects (insert eye rolling here). For example, in the Layla vs. Alicia Fox match the crowd went wild when Layla came out and stayed vocal through the entire match. Rightfully so, Layla is very attractive and her in-ring skills have improved quite a bit since her debut. She’s not the best Diva wrestler ever, but she’s lightyears ahead of some of the other Divas we’ve seen. Anyway, the crowd is going wild, yet no one in the audience is moving. No one is screaming, no one is applauding, and they all look bored. So does the WWE expect me to believe that all the excited fans are sitting on the side of the ring that no one can see? Regardless, the match actually lasted longer than a “normal” Diva’s match, which was good. My hope is that they can rebuild this division.

After the match, Layla accused Eve of attacking Kaitlyn, based on the “fact” that she “just knows”. The obvious direction is that Eve set up the attack, but I hope that she wasn’t behind it. Not because I’m some huge Eve fan or anything, but because I would like to see storylines that are a little less simple.

Two things with Wade Barrett. 1. They are doing a slow build up with him, similar to Ryback. I actually like this approach. How many people have we seen that try to go straight after John Cena or Randy Orton only to fail? All the hype they might have had going in to the match is now gone. However, if you build them up over time, then eventually when they face Cena they might still be relevant if they lose. 2. His move set looks awesome. That elbow to the face looks devastating.

The Miz vs. Sheamus was one of my favorite matches of the night. Sheamus didn’t dominate Miz like I thought he was going to. The Miz held his own. I loved this match until the Big Show appeared. He knocked out Miz, which DQ’ed Sheamus. Sheamus has now lost two in a row. This also makes it fairly obvious what Sheamus is going to do during the Big Show’s match. I blame Sheamus for the loss. After he gave Miz the White Noise he didn’t cover him. Instead he started boasting. If he had covered Miz, he would have won, Big Show could have still come out, and still knocked Miz out just to show Sheamus that he could.

Hell No vs. Alberto del Rio and David Otunga was disappointing. ADR mocking Randy Orton made me smile, but then they gave him a microphone. Robert Rodriguez needs to “learn” English so he can be ADR’s mouth piece. So Booker T comes out and he looks like he took personal offense to del Rio’s taunting, yet he allows Sheamus to kick the heads off of other Superstars. Regardless, most of the match was boring, and I feel that they missed a great opportunity by not having the Prime Time Players and the other tag teams get involved somehow. The WWE seems to have two different storylines going on for the Tag Division, which is way better than none, but you would like Hell No would be more involved in the tag tournament.

Terry Long has no backbone.

Hey look! In Big Show vs. Tensai, Sheamus interfered and got Big Show DQ’ed. This is hilarious and totally unpredictable because Big Show just did the same thing to Sheamus. In all seriousness, it did stop this extremely slow paced match. So I’m thankful for the predictability in this case.

CM Punk vs. Dolph Ziggler was awesome. It was filled with a lot of back and forth action. I do think it’s funny that the WWE can insert crowd noises in to the program, but they haven’t found a way to mute Vickie. Anyways, Punk’s GTS was perfect and spot on. It was just a very enjoyable match, and I would love to see what these two could do with some more time.

I’m not sure what Punk’s speech at the end was about. He said almost the exact same thing on Raw. We get it, you don’t want to fight Cena at Hell in a Cell. He shouldn’t have to either, not for the reasons that people are giving him anyway. He’s faced Cena several times already and beat him each and every time. When Christian was begging for one more match people were booing him. Why should Cena get a match every time he wants one. Anyways, since they’re toying with this Ryback thing, they should have had him come out and say something like if Punk wasn’t going to face John Cena then he would need a new opponent. This would in turn probably scare Punk in to choosing Cena for Hell in a Cell, because he knows he can beat him.

That’s it for the first edition of Talking Smack. Thanks for reading.
