Hey Splashers it’s been awhile but I've been busy with my Facebook page & radio show: Hardcore Wrestling Radio. This past week I had the honor of interviewing an ECW Original: Jason Knight! Jason has worked with the likes of Mikey Whipwreck, The Sandman, Mick Foley, The Undertaker, and more! If you want to listen to that exclusive interview head on over to www.facebook.com/hardcorewrestlingradio , and check it out! You won’t believe what he has to say!

I’ve been reading a lot of stuff about how the Aces & 8’s are copying the nWo and how AJ Styles is copying Sting. I thought it was time to give my 2 ½ cents on the matter.

Aces & 8’s
Ever since its inception over on TNA, the Aces & 8’s have been slated for mimicking the nWo. While there are a few good points to argue this, I have other points to argue the contrary. I think the Aces & 8’s are really mimicking the Sons of Anarchy, a TV show about an organized motorcycle gang that runs a small town in California. They have Prospects, Vice Presidents (or VP’s as they call it in the show), and yes…a President. To add another point, there was even a rouge gang in the club called “Nomads”, the same name that’s on the Aces & 8’s vest. I could continue to go on, but I think I’ve drawn a clear picture that the Aces & 8’s are NOT mimicking the nWo. There are similarities but as you will soon see there are similarities in many other gimmicks.

AJ Styles
Another major gimmick in TNA that has gotten a lot of heat is AJ Styles new heel gimmick. Many are suggesting Styles is mimicking Sting when he first became the “Crow Sting” back in WCW. The only real similarities that I see is that Styles is wearing black, he stands out in the crowd (Where Sting stood up in the rafters), and he has outcast himself from everyone.

When Sting first transformed into the “Crow Sting”, He changed the color & style of his hair, his face paint, his ring gear, his entrance theme, and he even walked around with a bat as part of his gimmick. AJ Styles has changed none of that. Styles has done none of the above, unless you want to be petty and call him growing a beard a change. Lastly Sting’s character was more like a silent vigilante with a purpose, where Styles character has just stopped giving a shit.

Do I see the resemblance? Of course I do. Anyone who has watched both eras would be a fool not to see it. But I also see similarities in John Cena‘s storyline he had this past year. John Cena lost his big match against the Rock at WrestleMania 28, and since then his personal life and wrestling career suffered, until he defeated The Rock at WrestleMania 29. AJ Styles problems started early last year, with all the rumors about him sleeping with Dixie Carter. It did not stop there as he went on a major losing streak, and culminated at the Bound for Glory series, where he lost, and would not be able to go for the title again, until Bound for Glory 2013. This is Styles year of hell, and at this year’s Bound for Glory it will be his “redemption”. If that doesn't suit you I could say he is just mimicking The Shield. He is wearing all black and hanging up in the crowd?

This next list is to show you that almost any wrestler or clan throughout the years (whether it was inspiration or just coincidence) can be accused of mimicking other gimmicks.

Jay Lethal
If there is anyone who SHOULD be on this list it’s Jay “Black Machismo” Lethal. Lethal from head to toe mimicked the late Macho Man Randy Savage. From his music, to his clothes, hell he even used the same catch phrases! But Lethal did not do this out of disrespect for Savage, he did it out of RESPECT for the future Hall of Famer. In 2007 Randy Savage even called up to let Lethal know how much he loved the gimmick! If the man himself can give his blessings about using his gimmicks, then there shouldn’t be any more issues.

Fandango
While Fandango is currently getting a major push at the moment he does appear to mimics, an old WCW gimmick: Disco Inferno. Let’s face it both guys , were dancers..and not good ones either: Only Disco Inferno was lost in a time warp. Both are terrible wrestlers: Take all the kicks and stomps away and all he has is his finisher. Hell if he wasn’t Vince’s pet project he would still be in NXT. Maybe we should call Fandango the Disco Inferno of the 21st Century?

Evolution
As much as I loved this group, it screamed Four Horseman. Ric flair was in this group but he really didn’t play the lead role like he did in the Horsemen. That was Triple H’s Role. Flair took more of James J Dillon’s role, even though he did wrestle. The group had the essence of the Horsemen: Private jets, limousines, exclusive restraints, and so on. At one time they even captured most of the titles in the WWE, which the horseman did as well. Evolution may not have lasted as long as the Horsemen, but no one can say they ran like them.

On a side note about TNA’s Fortune clan, I really don’t think they really mimicked the Horsemen aside from their hand sign. I think that was just Flair’s meager attempt to keep the horsemen alive.

Abyss/Joseph Parks
As much as I like Abyss, I cannot stand his alter ego Joseph Parks (his supposed brother). When I first saw Abyss, I thought of Mankind,(aka Mick Foley) and now this second character is showing that he is more mimicking Mick Foley rather than just Mankind. But Foley was in TNA and has worked with Parks, so I wonder if Foley gave him the “Thumbs up” to mimic his gimmick.

Ryback
When Ryback debuted in the WWE, almost everybody agreed he was mimicking Goldberg. He could come down to the ring, beat up two guys in about 30 seconds, and leave. That was Goldberg’s thing. Ryback even got a Goldberg chant going for several months. I will admit though Ryback is starting to evolve and his matches and mic skills are getting better. The big question is can Ryback evolve into his own wrestler, or will he just be content mimicking Goldberg?

I could continue on analyzing gimmicks. But when you put any gimmick under the microscope, you can see that they had some similarities to another gimmick. Nowadays no gimmick is 100% original, they were all inspired by someone else. You don’t have to believe me, you can just ask them. Until next time See you when I see you! -Rick Starr

Welcome back Splashers! Sorry I have been away with busy things, but I couldn’t miss the Road to WrestleMania. I’ve been reading a lot of blogs regarding The Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania, and how it’s all going to play out. Needless to say I have to put in my 2 & ½ cents, so without any further a due let’s get to it.

In this blog my only 2 main concerns is the Rock/Punk match, and The Rumble itself, as they are the two top stories in the “Road to WrestleMania” and it is also significant for my follow-up blog “A Different Road to WrestleMania -The Chamber”.

Punk vs Rock for the WWE Title
I Think Paul Heyman said it best last week on RAW. Everybody seems to think it’s a “forgone conclusion” That The Rock will win this Sunday. If you listened closely to Vince McMahon’s botched lines on RAW he said if the Shield interferes he will Strip CM Punk of his title…well that’s what he meant to say anyway. This still left a lot of other things open for Sunday. He can get counted out, he can DQ himself…and let’s not forget Brad Maddox, who is not officially apart of The Shield. And this isn’t Paul Heyman’s first square dance either.

If you ask me I think The Rock is going to lose one way or another at the Rumble. This will lock him inside one of the chambers for the WWE Title. Whether he wins the Title there, well we will just have to wait and see.

The Royal Rumble: Top 5 picks to win
Like everybody I have my top choice guys who I think will win the Rumble, and then I have a couple of odd-ball choices who I think the WWE just might pick to win with Rumble. Why? Because I think the WWE is giving these guys a chance to reach for that “brass ring” that they are always talking about. And what better way to do that, than to win one of the biggest PPV’s of the year.

5. Wade Barrett: Barrett has been on a tear as of late. If there is one person I would like to see win the Rumble it is Barrett, however with The Rock factor looming over head, I’m not sure how well that would play out.

4. Dolph Ziggler: I know another unlikely possibility, because Dolph is MitB holder, but that really doesn’t mean anything. What if Dolph, won the Rumble, went to WrestleMania to win the WWE Title, and cashed in to win the World Title the same night? It has been awhile since we have seen one person hold both titles. It’s not likely, but it’s just a thought.

3. Sheamus: Yes I know Sheamus won Royal Rumble last year, which means the chances of him winning this year are pretty slim at best. But I’m an optimistic, the Rumble always promotes numbers. Well here is another interesting number: 3 that’s the number of times a WWE Superstar has won a Royal Rumble Back to Back. Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin all won the Royal Rumble in 2 consecutive years. Maybe Sheamus can be number 4?

2. Ryback: I don’t really know where to begin with this guy. There are so many guys in the business who bend over backwards to try to get where Ryback is, and He has gotten to main-event status in less than 6 month, with “FEED ME MORE” and a handful of 3 minute squash matches. Honestly I don’t know what I like less about the guy, His wrestling skills or his mic skills. However, it’s not my call for Ryback to be one of the top guys in the WWE.
Ryback has gotten several WWE Title shots in 2012. If the WWE wants to give him another opportunity (Instead of Elimination Chamber) then winning the Royal Rumble would be that perfect opportunity.

1. John Cena: This has been one of the lead rumors in the IWC. That Cena is going to win RR, and go on to Face The Rock at Wrestle Mania for the WWE Champion. To be honest, I’m almost sold on the idea. WrestleMania is all about these types of storylines, and if there is one thing that the WWE has been as of late, is been predictable!

Well that’s for this one Splashers! Our next stop on will be next month right before the Elimination Chamber Hope to see you all there! See you when I See You! -Rick Starr

Welcome Back Splashers! I've been busy for the past week putting up Hardcore Wrestling Radio's new *Facebook page...

Welcome Back Splashers! I've been busy for the past week putting up Hardcore Wrestling Radio's new Facebook page. There you can listen to previous shows, find out what we are going to talk about in up and coming shows, and much more! alright enough of the plugging and on with the splashing!

Final resolution opens up with Cowboy James Storm walking to the ring. He Stated that he was not scheduled for a match, however he was there to watch Jeff Hardy’s back. He noticed when Aces & 8’s attacked Hardy on Thursday, Roode gave the gang the thumbs up. So he wanted to call out Roode to give him an ass kicking before he even got to his match.

However instead of Roode, Kaz came out and gave a pretty good heel promo, calling Storm and the fans a bunch of drunks, which got the reaction he wanted from the fans. After Kaz and storm went back and forth a few times, Storm challenges him to a match. After a few minutes of back-tracking, a ref comes down, and a in prompt-to match is under way.

James Storm vs Kazarian
Kaz had control in the early part of the match; however James Storm quickly turned things around, and just a few minutes later he put Kaz away with The Last Call Super Kick. This was ok for opener match, but it ended a little too soon.
Winner James Storm

X- Division Championship Match
RVD© vs Kenny King
This match truly captured the essence of the X-Division! Lots of high flying moves, and lots of chain wrestling. Neither man had the upper hand throughout this match; it went back and forth literally every other move. The only time the match slowed down, was at the beginning, when RVD took a hard kick to the head, and had took a few moments outside the ring to recover.

In the end of the match, both men were able to counter their finishers, but RVD got the win with a simple roll-up.
Winner: RVD – Still X-Division Champion

TNA Tag Team Title Match
Chavo Guerrero/Hernandez© vs Joey Ryan & Matt Morgan
This was an ok match. I’m starting to like Joey Ryan a little bit more each week, but Chavo fails to impress me no matter where he goes. Some of the high points of the match were when Super-Mex and Morgan went head to head. I think a one-on one match between these two would be good for both of them right now.
Towards the end of the match, Morgan starts to blatantly ignore the ref, and comes in the ring and attacks Chavo or Hernandez, whenever Joey needed it. The last time Morgan comes in he gets dropkicked out of the ring by Chavo. Chavo then hops up to the turnbuckle, and hits Ryan with a Frog Splash, but Morgan pulls the ref out before he can make a count. The ref has had enough of Morgan’s crap, and throws out the match.
Winners: Chavo Guerrero/Hernandez Still Tag Team Champions

Bully Rey vs Austin Aries
Aries spent the first few minutes avoiding Bully Rey. When Rey finally got a hold of Aries, Bully tossed him around like a rag doll. Then one mistake quickly turned things around for The Greatest Man That Ever Lived. Aries got cocky by doing Hogan taunts, and even went as far as to do Hogan’s famous leg drop early in the match.

This was a great match with a lot of reversals, and eventually Bully gets busted open. Brooke Hogan comes to the ring to check on Bully, and gets his blood on her. Aries then pulls her in the ring, and corners her. Hulk Hogan makes his way to the ring, but Bully throws Aries out of the ring, and protects Brook. He then tells Hulk that he needs to get Brooke “out of here”. Hogan brings her daughter in the back, and as the ref and Bully is paying attention towards the ramp. Aries comes up behind, and low-blows Bully, and gets the win.
Winner: Austin Aries

Knockout Title Match
Tara© vs Mickie James
This was a good Knockouts match, and I loved seeing Hardcore Country back in the ring. But when you get down to it, it was just another typical Tara/Jesse match. In other words, whenever Tara, was in trouble Jesse would interfere, and eventually help her get the win. It’s something we have seen over and over again, and it’s getting rather boring very quickly.
Winner: Tara Still Knockouts Champion

Aces and 8′s vs. Kurt Angle/Samoa Joe/ Wes Brisco/Garrett Bischoff
This match was just one hot mess! There was a lot of fast paced action, two guys who have masks, one with no name. I was hoping that one of the Aces would have lost their masks, but didn’t happen. In the last few minutes of the match, things break down, and the Aces try to bring in the hammer into play, but Bischoff stops that. Moments later Angle is giving “Armbreaker” the Angle Slam to pick up the win for their team.
Winners: Kurt Angle/Samoa Joe/ Wes Brisco/Garrett Bischoff

AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels: One Final Time
These two have had so many matches with and against each other, I find it very hard to believe that this is the “final time” they will ever face each other. Moving on, I thought the match itself was excellent. I am not a big fan of Daniels; I think he makes himself out to be much better than he thinks he is…just my opinion. However he does do his best when he is in the ring with Styles. During the match both men go for a cross body, and AJ got the worst of it, as he got a welt above his eye, and it was instantly swelling.

Later in the match Styles began to control the match for several minutes. He even hit the Styles Clash; however he only got the two count, because it took him so long to roll Daniels over. AJ then picks up Daniels, and plants him on the top rope, attempting to go for a Super Styles Clash, but Daniels reverses it into a hurricanrana. Daniels then Picks up AJ and hits him with his own Styles clash and gets the win.
Winner: Christopher Daniels

TNA World Title Match
Jeff Hardy© vs Bobby Roode
Earlier in the night Jeremy Borash was talking with Bobby Roode, and asked him what was his affiliation with Aces & 8’s. He simply said that he made an investment with the clan to guarantee his win and re-gain the World Title. He ended the interview by saying “Money talks…Bullshit walks!” You won’t hear that on WWE Television.

The match starts right off with Roode working over on Hardy, who is selling some rib injuries from the attack on Aces & 8’s on Impact. Roode dominates most of the match, but just can’t get the win. As the match goes on, Hardy continues to survive, despite taking extra punishment on the ribs, including a nasty crash into the barricades.

Then The Aces & 8’s come down to ringside, and Roode gets the ref’s attention..But they are not moving. Roode starts to yell at the clan, and is focusing on them instead of Hardy. Jeff gets to his feet, and hits Roode for the Twist of Fate, and gets the win.
Winner: Jeff Hardy Still TNA Champion

After the Match Aces & 8’s then jump in the ring, and pound on Hardy. Roode breaks things up, furious with the group and starts screaming at them about money, and how he would be champion right now. The Aces & 8’s then turn on Roode and attack him, and they all stand as the PPV ends.

My Final Resolution
Despite no titles changed hands I have to say, the qualities of these matches were overall great. I think TNA needs to work on their tag-team division, considering right now they only have 3 teams, but that’s the only real place where their lacking. I love the AJ Styles storyline. Where the WWE is making CM Punk hit new record highs with his WWE title. TNA is doing the polar opposite with Styles(Who is the face of TNA), and hitting all time lows, and going on a massive losing streak, yet he continues to have incredible matches…Its brilliant!

Well that’s it for this edition of the splash as always please put your thoughts and comments below.
The Splash: A look at Tag-Teams

Welcome back Splashers! I was having a discussion with a couple of friends of mine, and the topic of Tag-Teams came up. Some of us mentioned how the WWE Tag-Team Division has really improved over the past couple of months. Then there were a few others who thought that some of these “throw-together” teams like Hell-No and Rhode Scholars, will not last more than a few months.

That made me start to think about the history of Tag-Teams as a whole. What Tag-Teams really stay together forever? If you look throughout history, even some of the greatest Tag-Teams have broken up. Why? Because each wrestler has always wanted that only one man can achieve: The Company’s World Title.

The Hart Foundation
Before he was “The Best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be!” he was tagged up with Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. This team came into the WWF together, they won several titles together, and hell they are even family! Did that stop Bret from leaving the team behind, when Vince dangled the “brass ring” in front of Bret’s nose? Not a chance! And why should he? If the shoe was on the other foot and Anvil had the same opportunity, I’m sure he would have taken it. Granted they still kept the Foundation gimmick alive after Hart won the title, but it was a different beast by then.

Demolition
This was another great tag-team that was ripped apart. Demolition was together for 3 years, and they were also multi-Tag-Team Champions. However, neither Ax (Bill Eadie), Smash (Barry Darsow), nor Crush (Brian Adams) were able to grab a hold of any of Vince’s “brass rings”. Maybe Vince didn’t invent them yet….

The Rockers
When Shawn Michaels was a part of The Rockers, he did not have the gimmick we have all come to know when he retired. He teamed with Marty Jannetty for 7 years, in over 4 different companies! But when the day came, that Vince asked him to grab a hold of the “Brass Ring” what did he do? He put Jannetty through the Barber Shop window via Sweet Chin Music, and became HBK. Now if you ask me, do I think that was an improvement on his career? I say without a doubt yes!

The Hardy Boys
For many years it has been debated by many as to whether they were or not, if they were the best Tag-Team in history. But as the trend is starting to show us…even a team like Matt & Jeff Hardy just don’t last forever.

When the two split Jeff reached and grabbed the WWE’s Brass ring, and became a 3-Time WWE Champion. Jeff then signed with TNA and is now the current TNA Champion. The two brothers even made a small reunion in 2011 when Matt Hardy signed with TNA, but even that was short lived...as well as Matt’s career in TNA.

There is no doubt that teams like the Hardys will reunite for short periods of time, but the sad fact is, once they make that first split…the team is never quite the same again.

The Dudley Boys
If you measured a Tag-Team by their Tag-Team Titles won, then the Dudley boys would have to be the best Tag-Team in my book. I don’t know any other team that has over 20 Tag-Team Titles accumulated across the world. Yet even this team has split up more than once, and it appears that The Dudley Boys have decided to finally seek singles career for the remainder of their careers.

Could we see that final “One more match” with the Dudleys as a Tag-Team? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least, but on a full time scale…I’m not holding my breath.

Final thoughts
I could continue on with other Tag-Teams, like The Steiner Brothers or Harlem Heat. But the results would just be the same. Then I decided to look at the top 50 Tag-Teams of the WWE, and I noticed that the majority of the Tag-Teams were thrown together at one point in time. Jeri-show, The Rock-n-Sock Connection, Rated RKO, and many other established wrestlers were “thrown together” to make a Tag-Team.

Well that’s it for this edition of The Splash. As always feel free to post your comments below.

What’s up Splashers! I’ve noticed a couple of people have been writing about RAW, and how they feel about the 3 hour lineup that started on the 1000th episode. To be honest with you I’m still not sold the idea myself. I’ve been watching RAW each week, and I’m trying to find out what exactly does this extra hour give us? The WWE said it would give us “more entertainment and more action”. Well I’m seeing more and more… but not of entertainment and action…

More Commercials:
Any TV show you watch will take a standard quarterly hour commercial break (That’s 4 in an hour for those of you who can’t keep track ;) ). And the WWE is no exception to the rule. In Fact, they take MORE commercial breaks than the average TV Show. So RAW has already given us MORE commercial breaks.

More endorsement promos:
Before I get on this one, I do think it’s a great thing that the WWE is supporting all these great causes and charities. However I don’t think it needs to be shoved in our face 3 or 4 times a night. If these causes were so valuable and important, why not take up a commercial slot? That would take money out of their pocket…and that’s a no-no.

A similar thing that RAW has been done, that I think is rather disgusting, is they have taken a serious situation like Jerry “The King” Lawler’s Heart attack 2 months ago, and turned it into a storyline! It was pretty sad how the WWE had to show Jerry being revived in the back on RAW over and over. You know the company is just milking this thing on all 6 tits. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a DVD out of it.

More Recaps:
I don’t know about all of you, but I have a DVR. Even Still I can’t remember missing too many wrestling shows even before the days of DVR’s. So why does the WWE feel the need to re-cap…then re-re-cap some of the same shit we’ve seen just 2 hours before? Do they think our memory is that short? Or could it be that they really have nothing else to fill the show up with? They obviously have run out of commercial and endorsement time, so they just fill up the rest with recaps. I guess the idea of MORE MATCHES must have eluded them somewhere along the line.

Now that I’ve gotten all the bad shit out of the way, there is actually SOME…yes JUST some good stuff. With a whole hour added, you figure there would be a lot, but there really isn’t. Some of the matches have been extended a couple of minutes, and yes if you want to keep count there might be an extra match. But if you add in all the extra crap above, all your really getting is 5-10 minutes of extra action.

Hell the WWE even had to add 2 more shows during the week, just to make some of these storylines fit! I guess that proves that extra hour really wasn’t needed. WHY? Because they didn’t DO anything with it!

Hulu Plus will give you the whole RAW show from start to finish…Minus all the unneeded crap and commercials, and the show is only 1hour & 30 minutes! What does that say about the heavy advertising and promoting the WWE is doing?

Should RAW have gone to 3 hours: I’m sorry I just don’t see the need. If they put better quality in The Main Event, and stop killing that off with loaded commercials, then 3 hour RAW is just not needed. Of course the WWE won’t think that with extra money in their pockets.

Well that’s it for this one. As always feel free to post any comments below. Also I am starting up an internet radio show called: Hardcore Wrestling Radio. Right now is aired Wednesday nights at 11pm ET, but as the show grows, more shows will air. Check the link below for more info.
Image: http://shiningstarrdesigns.webs.com/Banners/blogsplashbanner13.jpg

Alright Splashers, I’m just going to let everyone know that this not be...

Alright Splashers, I’m just going to let everyone know that this not be suitable for all ages. I’m also going to let you know I’m pulling no punches, so If you are a fan of Hulk Hogan (or Bubba "the Love Sponge" for that matter.) you might just want to pass this one up.

In The Bedroom
Let’s get down to the meat of the matter. First off, Hulk Hogan had sex with another man’s wife, and he himself was just recently married. Take the hidden camera off the plate, and it’s still a pretty ugly picture. To top that off, the other man was his best friend, who was in the other room, who obviously had no problem with the two having sex. There seems to be one question that no one has asked throughout all this: Did Hogan’s new wife know about this? And if not how does she feel about Hogan having sex with his best friend’s wife?

Hogan’s side of the Story
Soon after the video breaks, Hogan gets on any radio station from Alaska to Florida, screaming to the heavens that he knew nothing about the video, and that he has written off Bubba “The love Sponge” as his friend”. I guess he never saw the stills that were released to the internet several months earlier that TMZ also reported. Hmmm somebody was playing dumb, stupid and blind…

And let’s not forget, this isn’t Hogan’s first embarrassing moment in front of the camera. It was THOUGHT he flashed his “junk” during the Def Jam RAPSTAR commercial shooting. Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan and manager Jimmy “Mouth of the South” were also in the commercial, which added to the controversy. Hogan even had to write a letter to clarify that he was wearing black underwear under his shorts. The fact that he flashed his own daughter was still in bad taste…but so wasn’t the video game, which crashed hard.

Getting back to the subject at hand, Hogan has filed a $100 million dollar lawsuit with gawker.com. The website that reportedly first posted the video of Hogan and Bubba love’s Wife. What I find interesting is that he didn’t go after Bubba and his wife first. Bubba was his best friend, according to Hogan, if what Hogan said is true, and he knew nothing about the tape, then that is truly an ultimate betrayal. So Why not go after him first? Why go after the website that obviously just posted what was given to them? That would have been my second target, if I was truly violated. Sure I would have had the website remove the video, but I’m going after the source!

Bubba’s Side of the Story
Bubba’s side well… isn’t much more different, it’s a bit nastier. He claims that Hogan knew about the camera from Jump Street, and had no problems with it. Bubba even went as far to say that Hogan could have leaked the video. However Bubba and his Wife publicly claimed that they have had made several sex tapes with other people and some of them happened to be celebrities. Now, if what Bubba has made several tapes, then Hogan has known about it, there is no 2 ways about it! When you are close friends with someone, you know all their habits. Hogan didn’t have sex with Bubba’s Wife just for the hell of it. And if you ask me…something just doesn’t smell right! And no I'm not referring to Mrs. Clem either!

What do I Think?
Hogan has not been in the best financial situation over the best couple of years. First he got a divorce two years ago, which literally cut his finances in half, not to mention losing a multi- million dollar home. Working for TNA and other commercials have given some equity, but not to the life-style he once had.

So do I think Hogan knew about the videos? You bet I do! Hogan knows a good scheme when he sees one, and what way to get financially comfortable again by suing somebody for $100 million dollars, he was most likely a part of! I think Bubba and Hulk pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes. They have been screaming at each other over twitter an over the radio, I’m willing to bet they really hate each other like Vince McMahon really hates money. I bet their really laughing over the whole thing, as we speak.

Let’s face it Hogan’s not looking for the full 100 Mil, he’s just looking for a quick quiet settlement, so he can pad his pockets (And most likely getting ready for a second divorce). Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if Hogan DOES use the footage after he retires to get into the porn business. Maybe him and Chyna can do a movie together, and call it “A Python in Chyna”? I would definitely pass on that one… Till next time splashers….See you when I see you -RickStarr

Welcome once again Splashers! This past week’s PPV was full of surprises, to say the least. And despite I just got finished with one splash, I just had to put my 2 & ½ cents on what happened this past weekend. That makes this Splash number 60, for the shining one himself. Alright enough patting myself on the back, let’s get down do business!

Despite me being wrong on the outcome of several matches, I have to say: This PPV was outstanding! I honestly cannot say there was one match that I truly did not enjoy. Bound for Glory was certainly one of the better PPV’s of the year.

X-Division Championship Match
Zema Ion vs RVD
At the time I wrote this Splash, Zema and RVD were not on the card, but I’ll be honest, and say I did not expect RVD to win. TNA has been Zema has a heel over the past few months, and I thought a win over RVD would have put him right over the top. The match itself was incredible, and I was shocked to see RVD get the win. Not that he is capable of caring the division, but more so, I thought he was above it
Rick’s Pick: Zema Ion
Who Won: RVD (New X-Division Champion)

Joey Ryan vs. Al Snow
This was clearly rookie vs the legend match, and Ryan is still very green in a lot of areas. While he is great on the mic, he certainly needs some work in the ring. If it wasn’t for Matt Morgan’s help I don’t see him winning the match. In fact, Al snow was certainly carrying him from start to finish.
Rick’s Pick: Joey Ryan
Who Won: Joey Ryan

KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Tara vs. Miss Tessmacher (champion)
This was a solid Knockout’s match, with no interference, or heel moves to speak of despite Tars being the “heel”. There were a few cheap blows, but as a heel they were expected. At the end of the match Tara won clean, and was the new Knockouts Champion.
And what’s with Tara’s new TMZ boyfriend? Is this how TMZ is getting all their leaks?...Just a thought.
Rick’s Pick: Miss Tessmacher
Who won: Tara (New Knockouts Champion)

TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Magnus vs. Samoa Joe (champion)
This match was not the best of the bunch, but it was still a decent fight nonetheless. It was a nice short high-impacting match. In the end Joe choked out Magnus to keep his title. Not too much more to say about it J
Rick’s Pick: Samoa Joe (Still Television Champion)
Who won: Samoa Joe (Still Television Champion)

STREET FIGHT
Bobby Roode vs. James Storm W/Special Enforcer: King Mo
This match was a BLOOD BATH! Storm literary had a crimson mask early in the match. These two guys just beat the hell out of each other! When it came down to watching this match, I had to toss a coin, because I knew they were going to throw everything in, including the kitchen sink.
The only thing that King Mo enforced was my opinion of him, that he has no real purpose of being in TNA.
Rick’s Pick: Rick Tossed a Coin
Who won: James Storm
WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES
Styles & Angle vs. Guerrero & Hernandez vs. Daniels & Kazarian (champions)
This was a great match with a lot of high flying, and high impacting moves, from all 6 men. Even the 300 pounder, “Super Mex” Hernandez flew over the top ropes several times with ease. In the end Hernandez and Guerrero won the titles with the Border toss, and the Frog Splash.
Rick’s pick: Guerrero & Hernandez
Who won: Guerrero & Hernandez (New Tag Champions)
After the match, SoCal Val tried to interview both men, but Chavo literally sucked up the whole spotlight. You could tell that Hernandez was pissed, but he bit his tongue. What really got under my skin is that Chavo is still ridding on Eddie Guerrero’s coat tails after all these years.

Sorry haters but here comes my rant of the Splash: As much as I respected Eddie Guerero, his nephew is riding his coat-tails way to dammed hard, for way to long! When Eddie was alive, Chavo would pick up his left over scraps. Now that Eddie is dead, he is using Eddie’s death to get over with the fans…and it’s wrong! The sad fact is the guy can wrestle; the sad part is he just can’t be his own person. He has lived in Eddie’s shadow for so long, he doesn’t know who else to be!

Aces & Eights vs. Sting & Bully Ray
I’m going to skip right to heart of the matter on this one. First off yes The Aces & Eights won, but that wasn’t the shock of the match. Everybody was pretty much expecting the group to win, so the story could continue. I was expecting either Sting, or Bubba, or even Hogan to be the insider the whole time. But everybody was wrong. It was DEVON! Bubba’s Brother! Now what’s fucked up, is 2 weeks ago, Devon was released from TNA and dropped the Television Title. Everybody thought he was having legit problems with the company and left. Nonetheless that was the jaw dropper of the night!
Ricks Pick: Aces & Eights
Who won: Aces & Eights

MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries (champion)
If you ask me, Aries came off as a bad version of CM Punk. He was ripping up his lines that management had apparently given him, and then he verbally attacked Hardy’s past. The match itself was the best of the night! Hardy was more aggressive than the two at the start of the match, but that did not last long as the match shifted back and forth several times. Despite his CM Punk rip-off promo, I honestly thought Aries was going to win this match, but Hardy winning the TNA World Title was another big shock of the night for me.
Rick’s Pick Austin Aries
Who won: Jeff Hardy (New TNA World Champion)

Well I might not have gotten have picks right on this one, but this was still one of the better PPV’s I’ve seen so far this year. As always, if any of you have any thoughts, feel free to post them below.

Lastly I will be starting a new Internet radio show with a couple of friends of mine each and every Wednesday Night: Hardcore Wrestling Radio on Blog Talk Radio at 11pm Eastern Time clck the banner below for the direct link. And always…See you when I see you -RickStarr
I watched the C.M. Punk Documentary that was just released on DVD,...

I watched the C.M. Punk Documentary that was just released on DVD, and it was fantastic! The documentary showed that Punk was the sole man behind his character, and NOT a WWE product. In fact he used the “Straight Edge” character as a heel, when he was wrestling for the “Indies”, and he drew just as much heat then as he did when he was in the WWE. Of course Punk had a passion for wrestling, which goes a lot further than the desire to make a buck.

Punk will tell anyone, it was that infamous shoot on RAW in mid 2011, that was the “turning point” in his WWE career. Some wrestlers need that moment, to launch their careers. However others are more fortunate and their careers don’t need that initial spark. So what makes a star...a star?

Sheamus: While Sheamus is on a great run with the World Title, He also is a former 2-Time WWE Champion. For someone who has only been in the WWE for just over 3 years, that is outstanding! Like Punk, Sheamus’ character is his own. The only things he had to lose were his last name (O'Shaunessy) and a little bit of face paint. If you ask me, this is a small tradeoff for an illustrious career.

To be honest, I don’t think Sheamus ever had a “turning point” in his career. Unlike the rest of his peers, he was fortunate enough to come right out of the gate, and has yet to stop in the WWE. Just to clarify, when I say “turning point” I DON’T mean turn from heel to face or vice versa.

Hulk Hogan: Hulk Hogan’s biggest “turning point” was after he debuted in the hit movie “Rocky 3” as “Thunderlips”. Hogan was also a heel in wrestling, until the WWF turned him to one of the biggest baby faces in history. Vince knew he had a star on his hand and took advantage of the situation, and even had Hogan come out to “Eye of the Tiger” which was the theme to the movie for almost 2 years.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin: For those of you who have seen “Beyond the Mat”, or any of the Hall of Famer’s DVD’s for that matter, Austin’s road to success was not an easy one. When he was in WCW, he was “Stunning” Steve Austin, and frankly I hardly noticed the guy. Then he came over to the WWE as “The Ring Master” and nobody gave a shit. These are some hard facts, but their true. Nobody gave a shit about Austin, until he won the King of the Ring, and coined the legendary phrase “Austin 3:16 said I just whipped your ass!”

That was his “turning point”, and to this day I remember it vividly! He had defeated Jake “The Snake” Roberts, who was on a bible kick (hence the Austin 3:16 comment). Roberts used to be one of the most dangerous men back in his hey-day, and Austin was talking to him like a common jobber, as he was being helped up the ramp. Austin was the first true heel that everybody loved!

John Cena: My earliest memory of John Cena was the “Thug-a-nomics” character. Whether that his own character, or a WWE character I do not know, nor will I try to make a guess here. I just knew I hated it, but I also knew he was getting over with the younger crowd.

If you want to ask me when Cena did first became noticed as the face of the WWE: It was when he was first drafted to RAW. It’s as simple as that. Sure he had the WWE Title with him, when he came over from Smackdown, and they had even created the “Spinner” Titles (The U.S. and WWE) specifically for him, even before he was drafted to RAW. But it was when he was drafted to RAW, that was the final piece of the puzzle.

Undertaker: The Undertaker is significantly different from the rest of his peers. Although his character mostly a WWE product, he has been one of the most successful superstars in the WWE to date. There is no doubt in my mind that the Mark Calaway has truly bonded with his Undertaker Character and molded it to his own. Otherwise he would not have been so successful over the years.

Although his story is unique from the others on this list, The Undertaker is not the only person to have a WWE character and be successful. “Edge”, was portrayed by Hall of Famer: Adam Copeland was another successful WWE character. Another big successful WWE character was Mankind portrayed by Hall of Famer: Mick Foley.

The Miz: After winning his WWE title via Money in the Bank in 2010, The Miz has begun to fizzle out a bit, rather than shine (A rare, but not an unfamiliar story). He is currently the WWE IC Champion, and he is commentating on The Main Event, and other shows. But if you ask me, this appears to be a step down, rather than a step up for a former WWE champion. While Miz did do a few side projects earlier this year. One can only wonder, Is The Miz is getting comfortable sitting on the sidelines?

When you get right down to it, no one really knows what it is that gets a wrestler over with the fans. In some cases like Punk and Austin, when you have thrown your hands up, and just become your own character. Then there are People like Cena, Undertaker and Edge, who "played the game", and were successful their entire careers.

So for the pro-wrestlers who want to become superstars, do they follow Punk and Austin's lead and go against the grain? Or do they play the game like Cena and the others and hope to get noticed?

Well that’s it for this one. As always thanks for reading, and please post your thoughts. I will do my best to respond to all of them. Until next time…See you When I See You -RickStarr

Welcome back one and all splashers to another edition of the Blog Splash! For those who have watched the B4G series over the past couple of years, it is the most exciting tournaments in pro wrestling today. As TNA fans know, Bound 4 Glory is finally approaching this Sunday. I try not to “predict” PPV’s in general. However in this case, I think TNA has made some of their outcomes pretty predictable on their own.

Joey Ryan vs. Al Snow
We have been seeing this match been developing for several weeks. It’s no surprise that Joey Ryan got a TNA Contract, never mind, a match with Al Snow. My guess is Ryan has been up in Ohio Valley working on his development skills over the past few weeks, to ready himself for this big match.

While Al Snow is a legend in the business, I’m guessing they will give this match to Joey Ryan, for the obvious reasons.
Rick’s Pick: Joey Ryan

KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Tara vs. Miss Tessmacher (champion)
These two former tag champions have locked up for the Knockouts Title before, and Miss Tessmacher successfully defended it last month. While Tara is now heel, and has defeated Tessmacher in a non-title match on Impact. I’m still not sold that a title will change hands; Tessmacher has only had her title just less than 2 months. I could be wrong, but I’m going with the champ retaining her title on this one.
Rick’s Pick: Miss Tessmacher (Still Knockouts Champion)

TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Magnus vs. Samoa Joe (champion)
This belt, never mind its recent name (The Television Title) have always had a problem establishing legitimacy. Devon was Television Champion for several months, until his contract with TNA ran out on August 28th. This left the title vacant, and after a great tournament, we had a new champion: Samoa Joe.

While I would like to see The TV Title jump from person to person, to build some legitimacy, Samoa Joe has only had the title himself less than 3 weeks. Also Samoa Joe has had a rough year, pushing other superstars up the ladder. He most certainly deserves to have a title around his waist a bit longer.
Rick’s Pick: Samoa Joe (Still Television Champion)

STREET FIGHT
Bobby Roode vs. James Storm W/Special Enforcer: King Mo
I have yet to see the real purpose of “King Mo” being in TNA. From what I gathered, the Bellator Fighter is mostly with TNA, to cross-promoting the two companies. In short TNA is trying to do with King Mo they could not do with Bobby Lashley, when he was with Strike force. I think at the end of the day, if Mo will have to choose between the two, he will pick Bellator over TNA. Right now for the moment, he doesn’t have to…

As far as to who will win the match between Roode and Storm? It’s a crap shoot there. This is Roode’s first PPV Match back, and he could certainly use a win to get him back in the game. On the flip side, James Storm was also on top of the B4G series, but just fell short thanks to Roode. Losing to Roode, would be the preverbal slap in the face. Either way, I’m expecting this match to be a great one!
Rick’s Pick: Rick Tosses a Coin

WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES
Styles & Angle vs. Guerrero & Hernandez vs. Daniels & Kazarian (champions)
With Motor City Machine Guns, Beer Money Inc, and several other tag teams broken up, TNA’s Tag-Team Division had gone to hell. TNA has slowly started to build the division back up early this year, but they still have some work ahead of them.

This triple-threat tag match is a bit tough to call, but I’ll take my stab at it. I don’t see Daniels and Kazarian holding on to the titles. While Styles and Angle have held the titles on more than one occasion, I think they are just in this match just to make things interesting. This leads us to Guerrero and Hernandez. I have always been a fan of Hernandez throughout his career; however I’m not entirely big on Guerrero. While Guerrero has never impressed me in the WWE, he has yet to impress me during his little time in TNA. Regardless of how I feel about Guerrero, I am going with him and Hernandez.
Rick’s Pick: Guerrero & Hernandez New tag Champs

Aces & Eights vs. Sting & Bully Ray
While this is not the main event, this is clearly one of the biggest matches on the card. The Aces & Eights story should culminate This Sunday at the PPV. Who will the leader be? I was betting it would be Matt Morgan, since he is back with the company. But it appears they have different plans for him. So I’m at a loss at who he could be.

Of course several people are suspecting someone on the TNA Roster helping the Aces & Eights. Needless to say it’s come down to Sting and Bully Rey. I am going with the obvious pick, Bully Rey. However some of my friends still think that Sting is the turncoat. Regardless of who is the turncoat, I’m expecting a couple things: First I’m hoping that the leader of the Aces & Eights is finally revealed, and secondly I’m expecting the Aces to win this match.
Rick’s Pick: Aces & Eights

MAIN EVENT: WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
"The Charismatic Enigma" Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries (champion)
This is another tough match to call. A lot of people thought Hardy’s title matches were far behind him, when he hit rock bottom at Victory Road 2011. Yet he got his title shot by winning the B4G Series and became the #1 Contender. I have also been a huge fan of current TNA Champion: Austin Aries. He earned my respect, when he was in the X-Division. Then when he became the World Champ, I saw him go to a whole new level. But since this Aces & Eights story-line started, Aries have sort of fizzled out a bit. Maybe TNA is pushing the group instead of its champion, or it could just be that Aries is just getting a bit dry. Only time will tell.

So who do I think will win this one? As much as I would like to say Hardy, I don’t think he’s deserved it just yet. There are other guys that deserve a title reign, so I’m guessing they will keep the title on Aries a bit longer. Also If Aries does in fact win; It will help solidify him as a big time wrestler.
Rick’s Pick: Austin Aries (Still World Champion)

Welcome back Splashers! I wanted to take this time to thank all my readers, and throw a shout-out to some of the people who comment on my splashes. (in no particular order) Ackbar, Thunderlips, Spankyspank22, pld459666, TheGreatOne, Heavy, Grave, PhEonYx, DX Wrestling Savior, Lucas Chapel, and Silvon. Whether you love my "splashes", or not. Agree or disagree with me, I thank you all for contributing. Now let's get down to business!

I watched the Zack Ryder’s 86th episode of True Long Island Story. In a nutshell Ryder talked about his career, and how 2012 was supposed to be his year, but things “sucked” for him. Ryder then went on to talk about how things needed to change. That’s when reality faded in, and we saw Zack was just “dreaming” the whole episode. Many could say the episode was just a promo, a “tease”. But the hard truth is, as long as Zack Ryder keeps his “Goofy Long Island” gimmick, he will always be “Just another guy on the roster”.

This is not Ryder’s first gimmick. He debuted with his tag-team partner Curt Hawkins, and joined Edge, as a part of La Familia. While the team only lasted 3 years, Ryder proved he has not problems using different gimmicks in the past. Ryder has had the “Long Island” gimmick for over 3 years, and he continues to be a stepping stone.

While I will give some props to Ryder, as he took some incredible bumps from Kane. The WWE even had him hanging around John Cena and Eve, until they swerved the angle, and left Ryder out in the cold once again. That should have been the wake-up call for Ryder. What’s more, the huge bumps that he took from Kane, was the perfect opportunity to change his gimmick. Apparently Ryder is content with the “Goofy Long Island” gimmick, and just being “Internet Champion”.

If you look back through history, most comic relief gimmicks almost never hit main even status. Doink, Goldust, Eugene, Santino Marella, and Zack Ryder are just some of the names that didn’t make it to the top. This is because these gimmicks are made for mid-card laughter…And not main event entertainment.

There were a few superstars that were fortunate enough to have “goofball humor” and be some of the top superstars: Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Mick Foley all were fortunate enough to be in the WWF/WWE during the Attitude Era. Also, despite the stellar matches, that all these men had which defined their careers, they also changed their gimmick which gave them that initial push. Furthermore, all three of these men could cut some of the best promos one second, and then be goofy the next. That is a skill that makes you shine!

Some would also include The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in those names. But I would not consider Rock and Austin “goofball” humor. Rock and Austin could certainly chime in on any situation to make things much funnier. However when they did their own promos, it was more of an off-beat comedy, rather than “goofball humor” than other superstars had.

Some would argue that Kane and Daniel Bryan are also exceptions to the rule, considering their current “anger management” story-line. Both men have been former World Champions; however that was long before they started the storyline. Now I will admit the “anger management” angle is very humorous, and it is getting crowd appeal. However I feel the more comedy sketches that Bryan and Kane do as a team, and as individuals, it will only hurt their careers, rather than hurt them. If you don’t believe me..Just ask The Big Show or Mark Henry.

In 2002, The Big Show had won his second World/WWE Title. Although He had done a few comedy skits, at this point in the WWF/WWE, The Big Show was more of an “Angry Giant” character in his early years. Despite several Tag-Team title reigns, The Big Show was more or a clown than a monster over the years. By his own admission, Show had made a fool of himself at several WrestleManias, and failed on top of that. It’s only been since mid-2011, that the “Angry Giant” gimmick has come back out. Since then The Big Show has been making a hard run for another WWE/World Title, but he has yet to capture the gold as of this writing. Perhaps he was just a little too late to make his change?

Mark Henry, the strongest men in the WWE. While the short-lived gimmick of “Sexual Chocolate” did get him over with the fans, it did him no favors in winning titles. In 2006 Henry was making a run for the World title, but a Patella injury set him back a few years. When Henry returned and started teaming with MVP, he was dubbed “Mr. Kool-Aid” because of the big red singlet he wore. While he won several tag-team titles, it did him no favors in the World/WWE Title Divisions. He finally turned heel, dropped the “Happy Mr. Kool-Aid” outfit, and finally won his first World Title.

You can call it a coincidence or you can call it flat out bullshit. The cold hard facts are that “Goofball” wrestlers might entertain the fans; they might even get mid-ranked titles. But at the end of the day, you’re going to be nothing more than a joke. The only company that put a World Title around a goofball was WCW (David Arquette)...And look where they are now!

So here’s my question for you: If you could pick 1 wrestler to change his gimmick (just 1) who would it be?
