Hello everyone! I am back with another blog. This time, a blog about the 40 Greatest Superstars in Wrestlemania History.

We all think of Wrestlemania as the biggest event of the year. The time where the feuds are better than the rest of the year and the event where the matches and the moments will be remembered and go down in history.

But which Superstars have been the best at giving us these feuds, these matches and these moments, that we all remember? I have done my best to make a good list of 40 of these Superstars.

The list thus far have looked like this

40. CM Punk
39. Rey Mysterio
38. Tito Santana

If you wanna read about the Wrestlemania career of these superstars, you can go to this link: http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/community/entry.php?41820-The-40-Greatest-Superstars-in-Wresltemania-History-(38-40)

Now lets move on with the list, as we take a look at the spots from 35 to 37

37. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine

Once again we have a Superstar, with a Wrestlemania career, that goes all the way back to the very first Wrestlemania in Madison Square Garden.
Valentine's first match was actually a championship match, as he defended his Intercontinental Championship against Junkyard Dog.
This match was quite disappointing, and didnt really do much, as Greg was busy feuding with Tito Santana at the time. While Tito did get involved in the finish, the finish of the match was quite bad and so was the match. Not the best start for Greg Valentine at Wrestlemania.

At Wrestlemania 2, it did get a lot better for Valentine though. As he teamed up with Brutus Beefcake as The Dream Team, to take on The British Bulldogs, Davey Boy Smith and The Dynamite Kid. This match was for the WWF Tag Team Titles and was the main event of the part of Wrestlemania, which took place in Chicago. This was a great match, and quite possibly, match of the night (by that I mean the entire Wrestlemania 2). While it will mostly be remembered for The Bulldogs performance, and their victory, Valentine and Beefcake still had their part in making this great tag team match.

<img src="http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=2499&d=1338382067&thumb=1" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.
Next year, at Wrestlemania 3, Valentine took a step back from the great match last year. Once again he teamed up with Brutus Beefcake as The Dream Team, this time they faced off against The Rougeau Brothers. This match was pretty short and there wasnt really that much going on in the match. It will probably be remembered the most, for Valentine and Dino Bravo turning on Brutus Beefcake, after the victory.

At Wrestlemania 4, Valentine once again went back to singles competition, as he competed in the WWF Championship tournament. In his first round match, he faced off against none other than Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. And once again, we had a candidate for match of the night, as these two pulled off a very good match. Some people were quite disappointed, that we didnt get the rematch of Steamboat vs Savage, but that doesnt make this match any less good in my opinion.
As you have probably figured out at this point, Valentine's opponent in the quarter finals was Randy Savage.
Once again, a really good match, for the time it was given. This time, Valentine lost, but he could go home, thinking to himself, that he possibly had match of the night and actually delivered two really good matches.

Once again, it was time for Tag Team action for Greg Valentine. Yes. At Wrestlemania 5, he teamed up with The Honky Tonk Man, to take on Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart, The Hart Foundation. This match was mostly used to put over The Hart Foundation, as they were rising to the top, and the match itself was pretty average.

While Valentine didnt compete at Wrestlemania 6, he took his last Wrestlemania run at WM 7, and for the first time at Wrestlemania, he was a face. This time he was back in singles action, competing against Earthquake. This match was pretty much a filler, to put over Earthquake, and there wasnt much to it. Not the brightest moment in Valentine's Wrestlemania career. But even though Valentine's matches at Mania, had their ups and downs, he can especially look back at Wrestlemania 2 & 4, as his best performances.

36. "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith

At the 36th spot we have none other than the legendary British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith. Smith's Wrestlemania career doesnt quite go as far back as Valentine and Santana's, but almost.
To find Smith's first performance at Wrestlemania, we have to go back to Wrestlemania 2, where he teamed up with The Dynamite Kid, to take on Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake, The Dream Team. As you have probably already read in this post, a great match, where Bulldog and Dynamite Kid really shined, with their Mexican / Japanese style moves. Great match overall, and possibly match of the night.

<img src="http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=2500&d=1338384885&thumb=1" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.
At Wrestlemania 3, Smith once again teamed up with The Dynamite Kid, but this time, they also had Tito Santana on their team, as it was a 6 man tag team match, where they competed against The Hart Foundation and Danny Davis. Once again a pretty damn good match, not quite as good as the year before in my opinion, but quite close.

Once again, at Wrestlemania 4, Smith competes in a 6 man tag team match, this time him and Dynamite Kid, teams up with Koko B. Ware, to take on Haku and Tama, The Islanders as well as Bobby Heenan. This match was pretty good, and it kept the crowd quite excited, as it was mostly a filler match. Once again we can say this about Smith's match: Not as good as last year.

Smith didnt compete at Wrestlemania 5 & 6, as he took a break from WWE at that time, to compete in Japan, but he made his Wrestlemania comeback at Wrestlemania 7, and for the first time, he was in singles action, as he fought against The Warlord.
The match itself was okay, but the most important part of it, was to get Smith over as a singles wrestler, and that worked quite well, as he got a nice ovation from the crowd.

After this, Smith was released by WWE once again, and for that reason he missed a few Wrestlemania's. But he came back at Wrestlemania 11, where he teamed up with Lex Luger, as The Allied Powers, to take on The Blu Brothers. This match was quite bad to be honest, the ending was bad as well and it was really sloppy.

At Wrestlemania 12, Smith was back to 6 man tag action, as he teamed up with Owen Hart and Vader, as Camp Cornette, to take on Jake Roberts, Yokozuna and Ahmed Johnson. This match worked better than last years match, as an opener, and everyone had their spots, where they could bring something to the table. Much better than last year at least.

At Wrestlemania 13, Smith once again teams up with Owen Hart, this time they take on Vader and Mankind, for the WWF Tag Team Titles. This match was pretty tough, hard hitting and stiff. But entertaining as well, which is the most important thing. What ruined the match though, was the ending, which was a double countout.

This was Smith's last Wrestlemania, in what, overall, was some really nice Wrestlemania matches.

35. Jake "The Snake" Roberts

At the 35th spot, we have Jake "The Snake" Roberts, who is a pretty underrated wrestler in WWE history, in my opinion.
His first Wrestlemania match, was at Wrestlemania 2, against George Wells.
In other words, a new heel vs some random jobber. Jake wins. Yay.

Next year, Jake was in a match, which was a bit more important. This time he faced off against The Honky Tonk Man. This match had a hard time, as it went on right after the awesome match, which was Steamboat vs Savage. But this match did pretty well for itself, it had some good moments, but was also slow at times.

At Wrestlemania 4, it got even better for Jake, as he was a part of the WWF Championship tournament. In the first round he faced off against Rick Rude, in a match that ended in a time limit draw. This match wasnt awesome by any means, but it was pretty good and had some nice mat wrestling, and it was pretty exciting overall.

At Wrestlemania 5, Jake had a biiig opponent, in Andre The Giant. This match had some cool mind games, but other then that, not really entertaining. Andre was looking pretty bad with his health, and Jake couldnt get a good match out of him.

Now it was finally time for a Championship match! Well kinda .. At Wrestlemania 6, Jake fought against Ted DiBiase, for the Million Dollar Title. But lets forget about the title for a moment. This match was great! These guys had some great chemistry, as they went back and forth in this match. Definately one of the best matches of the night. This is one of those underrated matches in WWE history, that people kinda forget about, but I would recommend that you watch it!

Okay guys listen! Jake Roberts vs Rick Martel .. Sound exciting right? Jake Roberts vs Rick Martel in a Blindfold Match .... Not as exciting. Nonetheless, this was what was gonna happen at Wrestlemania 7. At the time, this concept was quite original, and Jake and Martel actually made it work quite well! It was a pretty fun match. Yes a blindfold match folks. Jake made that work too.

At Wrestlemania 8, Jake became the 2nd victim of the streak, as he lost to The Undertaker. Not that good of a match (good matches was a rarity from The Undertaker at that time). But the match was pretty short, and it put over Taker as it was designed to do.

This was Jake's last Wrestlemania match, in what was definately a memorable run in WWE.

I hope you enjoyed the 2nd part of this blog, remember to rate the blog, leave a comment and read the 3rd part when that one comes out :)

40. CM Punk

Some people considered last year, to be the breakout year in WWE for CM Punk, where we all saw his infamous shoot promo and the great match at Money in the Bank. But before that, he was still having really good matches at Wrestlemania!

Punk's Wrestlemania career began at Wrestlemania 23 (no we dont count the time he was a part of Cena's entrance), where he competed in the match type, where Punk made his name on the grandest stage of them all: Money in the Bank.

While he didnt win the match at Wrestlemania 23, he still took part in what was one of the best matches of the night. He was even the final guy on the ladder, before Mr. Kennedy captured the briefcase.

But it was at Wrestlemania 24, where Punk finally had his breakout Wrestlemania moment, as this time, he won the Money in the Bank match, which once again, was one of the best matches of the night.

At Wrestlemania 25, he repeated the success, as he once again won the Money in the Bank match. And once again, the matches was one of the best of the night (Money in the Bank never fails to deliver)
<img src="http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=2485&d=1338234188&thumb=1" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.

At Wrestlemania 26, CM Punk had his first Singles match at Wrestlemania, as he faced Rey Mysterio. The feud leading up to the match, was pretty good and there was nice expectations for this match. Unfortunately it didnt get enough time for Punk and Mysterio to really show what they can do in the ring, but for the time it had, it delivered.

Wrestlemania 27 was another story. This time CM Punk was up against Randy Orton. While the feud wasnt the greatest, it was still really good, and it looked like we were in for a good match. This time CM Punk got the time to show what he can do, and his match vs Orton had the same story as the feud. Not the greatest, but still good.

At Wrestlemania 28, it got even better for Punk, as he faced Chris Jericho, this time, for the WWE Championship. Once again, Punk was a part of one of the best matches of the night, in a great technical match against Jericho. While some people expected a bit more from it, you cant deny the fact, that it was a great match!

39. Rey Mysterio

At the 39th spot, we find another superstar, who is still (kinda) active, Rey Mysterio, who many people consider to be the best high flyer in WWE history.

Rey's Wrestlemania career began at Wrestlemania 19, where he competed in the opening match, against Matt Hardy, for the Cruiserweight Championship. This match was a very solid match, and a nice way to open one of the best Wrestlemania's in history. While it didnt get much time, they got the most out of the time they had. Rey really shined in this match, as he was able to use his high flying abilities.

At Wrestlemania 20, once again, Rey competed for the Cruiserweight Championship. But this time, rather than a single match, it was a Cruiserweight Open, with names such as Chavo Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon and Tajiri. The stipulation of this match, meant that each guy didnt get much time to shine. But overall, the match was certainly not boring, as we got lots of fast paced, high flying action.

The next year, at Wrestlemania 21, Rey made history, as he faced Eddie Guerrero, with whom he was holding the WWE Tag Team Titles. Like at Wrestlemania 19, WWE decided that Rey Mysterio was gonna open the show. And it was definately a good choice. It was a good match to get the crowd pumped, as they were super hot for this match. But while this was a good Wrestlemania moment for Rey, the next year, proved to be even better...

Because at Wrestlemania 22, Rey made history once again, as he went into Wrestlemania as the Royal Rumble winner, but not only that, he also won the World Heavyweight Championship, in a triple threat match, against Kurt Angle and Randy Orton.
Earlier in the blog, I wrote about, how some people got the most out of the time they had. This time, they REALLY got the most out of the time they had. Because while the match, didnt get that much time, the 3 guys really gave it their all, during the match. When people talk about great matches, that lasted under 10 minutes, this match is being named every time.
But not only was the match good, we also got a true Wrestlemania moment, when Rey Mysterio won the World Heavyweight Championship, for his dead friend Eddie Guerrero.

<img src="http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=2486&d=1338235810&thumb=1" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.
Unfortunately Rey missed both Wrestlemania 23 and 24, but he made his Wrestlemania return at Wrestlemania 25. This time he competed for the Intercontinental Championship, against JBL. This wasnt anything to write home about, as the match lasted 21 seconds, and will probably only be remembered as JBL's last match in WWE.
Quite a disappointment, but a Wrestlemania match nonetheless.

At Wrestlemania 26, Rey Mysterio faced off against CM Punk. Once again we get a match with a curse, that has apparently been following Rey Mysterio at Wrestlemania. Not enough time.

At this point in his career, Rey was mainly gonna be used to put over the younger stars, and that was proven, as we saw Rey face Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania 27. This match told a good story and was good overall. Rey did a good job, putting over Cody Rhodes, who also got the win in the match.

38. Tito Santana

Tito Santana's Wrestlemania career goes all the way back to the very first Wrestlemania. Actually he wrestled the very first Wrestlemania match in history, as he opened the first Wrestlemania against The Executioner.
This match wasnt really that memorable, as is was basically a squash match for Tito Santana. Although it will be remembered for being the first match in Wrestlemania history.

Tito continued his Wrestlemania career at Wrestlemania 2, which was split into 3 locations. Tito competed in Los Angeles, right before the main event, where he teamed up with The Junkyard Dog to compete against The Funk Brothers.
This match definately delivered. It had a really fast pace, and Tito really showed his skill in this match and with Terry Funk in the match, you know that something crazy was gonna happen.

At Wrestlemania 3, Tito was once again in tag team action. This time it was a 6 man tag team match, as he teamed up with The British Bulldogs to take on The Hart Foundation and Danny Davis. Once again, a pretty good tag team performance by Tito Santana (and the others). Tito wasnt really the focus of this match, but he still had his part in making a really nice tag team match.

At Wrestlemania 4, Tito once again had tag team action in his calendar. He teamed up with Rick Martel as Strike Force, to take on Demolition, in a match for the WWF Tag Team Titles. Once again we see a decent tag team match from Tito, with some nice spots at the beginning and the end.

He was right back in action, at Wrestlemania 5, and once again, it was a tag team match!
This time, Tito teamed up with Rick Martel as Strikforce, and went up against The Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard).
Once again Tito was part of a really good tag team match. While the match didnt live completely up to its potential, we still saw some nice tag team action, which ended in a swerve, as Tito's tag team partner, Rick Martel turned on him at the end of the match. This angle led to a lenghty, great feud between Tito and Martel, and is probably why this match will be remembered.

At Wrestlemania 6, Tito was finally back in 1v1 action, as he faced off against The Barbarian. Not exactly the best moment in Tito's Wrestlemania career, as the match wasnt really that good. The match was mainly used to put The Barbarian over as the monster, which wasnt that sucessful either.

Wrestlemania 7 was kinda the same story, but a different opponent. This time Tito faced off against The Mountie. And once again, this wasnt really a Wrestlemania moment to remember for Tito.

Wrestlemania 8 was Tito's last televised Wrestlemania match (he wrestled the dark match the year after), this time against a guy, who proved to be one of the greatest of all time, Shawn Michaels! Tito was past his prime, but could still deliver a good match. And so he did. A really good opener for Wrestlemania 8. Tito put over Michaels as expected, and ended a really good Wrestlemania career.

I hope you enjoyed the blog, and remember to take a look at my next part of the blog, where I will go further down the list of the 40 Greatest Superstars in Wrestlemania History.

*The RAW...

Hello people! This is a new blog series I will be starting, where I will review each of the segments of RAW, hopefully you will enjoy!

The RAW Opener

Mick Foley comes out and says that he wants to be in the Royal Rumble. Ziggler interrupts and make a mockery out of it. Punk comes out and backs Foley up, until John Laurinatis comes out and says that Foley cant be in the Rumble

My view: I liked that RAW opened with Ziggler & Punk this week. I feel like the focus have been more on Cena & Kane in recent weeks, and that this storyline needed a little more attention. This was some of the best mic work that Ziggler has ever done, he is really improving on the mic. Although a title change at the Royal Rumble isn't likely, I feel like it could possibly happen.
This could also potentially set up for a Wrestlemania match between Ziggler & Foley. Many people don't want to see this, but remember this: Ziggler isn't gonna be in any main event this year, he simply isn't ready. And if he isnt' gonna be main eventing, he will be in some random Money in the Bank match or something like that. Foley has put over a lot of Superstars in the past, like HHH, Orton & Edge, this could really do wonders for Ziggler's career in my opinion.

Epico & Primo retain their WWE Tag Team Titles vs AirBoom

My view: The match was entertaining, for the time it had, Evan Bourne had some good moves in the match. I dont now what to think of Epico & Primo, they are good in the ring and they are from Puerto Rico, what else do we know about them? They have NO character, let them cut a short promo before the match maybe?
Well back to the match .. This match was way too short! When the titles change hands at a Live Event, which only a few people saw, we need to see a little more than this to be honest.
Since we now know that Evan Bourne is suspended for 60 days, the question is, where does Kofi Kingston go from here? I dont want him to go back to his usual midcard status, where he is just a guy who smiles and makes some high flying moves. I would have loved to see him turn on Bourne, I think they should try Kofi as a heel.
If they dont wanna do that though, he should try and find a new tag team partner to challenge Epico & Primo, make a storyline out of that?

Jack Swagger defeated Zack Ryder to become United States Champion

My view: Well, Im not a huge Jack Swagger fan, but I think he is an okay choice to be United States Champion, they don't really have anyone else. The match didn't bury Ryder, which was good. Ryder is better, when he is chasing the title, and maybe WWE realise that? He will get it back eventually, Im guessing before Wrestlemania. Actually, I also feel like Eve worked pretty good here, including the backstage segment afterwards, it seems realistic (not including the horror crap last week)

Kelly Kelly & Alicia Fox defeated The Bella Twins

My view: I didn't care about this at all. None of these four divas have any business in a wrestling ring, they are just eye candy. Where is Beth Pheonix?? Isn't she the Divas Champion and the face of the Divas Division?
At least this will give WWE some exposure on Perez Hiltons website, which is good I guess?

R-Truth comes out. He is interrupted by Wade Barrett, R-Truth shows his Disney Land slideshow. The Miz attacks R-Truth, who is saved by Sheamus. Teddy Long comes out and makes an Over the top rope challenge, which R-Truth won

My view: I found R-Truth pretty funny in this segment, which was okay I guess? As soon as Teddy Long came out, I thought we were gonna get a Tag Team match, as that is what he usually does, but this time ... I guess he was in Royal Rumble mood?
Now for the match itself ... I thought it was an okay match, nothing special. I didn't like that R-Truth won, he has had a lot of momentum in the last few weeks and didn't need this. They should have let The Miz win, so that he could get a little bit of momentum back.
Wade Barrett is my personal favorite to win the Rumble, I dont want to see Orton or Jericho win as it is predictable.

John Cena vs Jack Swagger ended in a no contest

My view: I really liked the "hate" that Cena showed here, his character NEEDS som edge, and it got a bit of edge here. I liked that Kane appeared on the titantron instead of coming out, as it was a little different from the last few weeks.
The only thing I didn't like about this, was the fact that it made Swagger look really weak, they could have made Cena beat up someone else. I know it makes the most sense for it to be Swagger, because of Ryder, but Cena could have taken his frustration out on some jobber, maybe Otunga?

Brodus Clay defeated JTG

My view: I found Brodus Clay funny the first week, as it caught me completely off guard, but this week, I found it a bit meh ... I am willing to let it run for a few weeks, before I give my full opinion, I want to see how he does, when he doesn't face random jobbers.
But about the gimmick, I feel like it doesn't have any relevance or realism .. This is some gimmick that should have been done in the 80's (and it did ...) Forexample .. Zack Ryder's gimmick is relevant in todays society because of Jersey Shore. CM Punk is relevant, because we want a more realistic product. This gimmick, is not relevant at all.

Dolph Ziggler, Mark Henry & David Otunga defeated CM Punk, Chris Jericho & Daniel Bryan

My view: Ok a lot of things happened here .. Let me start with Bryan's promo before the match .. I am beginning to find Bryan way more interesting as he is slowly turning heel, he is finally showing some more character. I also liked when he cowardly ran away from Henry.
I liked Jericho this week a lot more than in recent weeks. I get what he is doing, but the last few weeks, I have found it boring that a guy just stands and screams "YAAAAY" for 10 minutes, this week, it didn't take much time of the show and was done in a good way.
The match itself, was pretty good, David Otunga is improving a bit, which is nice, but I think what happened after the match overshadowed the match itself

I LOVED the promo from Punk, he has been kinda meh in the last few months (not wrestling wise, but storyline wise) but finally he dropped a pipe bomb and it looks like we could get an interesting storyline out of Punk vs Johnny Ace.

For the first time ever I was entertained by Johnny Ace, I really liked his promo, and the fact that he punched Foley, and began to show a new side of his character. I could imagine some kind of power struggle between Foley & John to become the permanent GM of RAW, not saying they should have a match together!! But they could have other guys represent them.

MVP of the show: Mick Foley! Yes Mick Foley, he did a very good job this week, in the opening and end segments, he gained heat for Ziggler and I think he should stay around for a while, that could create some interesting storyline in the coming weeks

Overall this weeks RAW was A LOT better than last weeks, and one of the best RAW's in some time! I hope it only gets better on the Road to Wrestlemania!

This has been the RAW Check! Hope you enjoyed!

Hey Im back with part 2 ! If you wanna read part 1 of this blog go to http://www.ewrestlingnews.com/commun...Fail-of-11-WWE

Now, in the last part, I talked about the jobbers, the breakout stars and the epic fails of 2011, and compared them to 2010, and looking at that, 2010 did better, leading 2-0 in my own little scoreboard. Now, lets take a look at our first topic in this blog...

The Announcers

The main difference from 2010 to 2011, was the fact that we went from 2 man announcing teams, to mainly having 3 man announcing teams. Personally I prefer 2 man announcing teams. Now lets take a look at the main announcers of 2011

Michael Cole - Last year Michael Cole, was being the usual play-by-play guy (except on NXT), but in the fall, he started his heel persona, which in my opinion, made him a bit more interesting, and it even came to the point, where he was taking part in on screen feuds. This guy changed for the better, but in my opinion still annoying as hell.

Jerry Lawler - He hasnt changed much .. I still miss heel Jerry Lawler, his face commentary is kinda meh ... But he didnt change much from 2010 to 2011, so not much to say :)

Booker T - Here is the main difference on the commentary in 2011 .. BOOKER T! While some people find him annoying (I did in the beginning), I find him hilarious at times. Booker T has definately improved the commentary on Smackdown in my opinion.

Jim Ross - One thing that WWE did in 2011, was to bring JR back on commentary for some time, which was great, Im still a huge fan of JR's commentary, and although we didnt see him much, he was good for the time he had!

Josh Matthews - He is doing a good job in my opinion, I dont pay much attention to him to be honest, but for what he does, he is doing good (definately better than Todd Grisham)

Now if we compare to 2010, on Smackdown we had Todd Grisham & Matt Striker, where we now have Cole, Matthews & Booker T. Grisham wasnt that good in my opinion, so its a plus to have Matthews + Striker was annoying, so Smackdown definately got better!

The RAW duo is the same people, but Cole has a whole new character, which is better than before in my opinion, so thats a plus. And .. They had JR back.

To be honest, the only thing im missing from 2010, is the NXT duo of Cole & Matthews (I dont watch NXT these days, so I dont know who is commentating), they were a lot of fun to watch. But overall, 2011 definately beats 2010, when it comes to announcers

2010 - 2
2011 - 1

The Matches

Now ... The announcers needs something to call, the matches! In this part I will take a look at the four best matches from 2011 and compare them to 2010, to see, if the level of matches has improved

CM Punk vs John Cena (Money in the Bank) - In my opinion, match of the year definately. It had everything it needed, the big match feel, a great feud going into it, the mystique of the fact that Punk could leave with the title, the possibility of interference, the crowd and the fact that it was a great match!

Undertaker vs Triple H (Wrestlemania) - Some people dont like this match, and while it wasnt the best of 2011, in my opinion it was still a great match. It had a lot of great spots, and at some points, it actually convinced me that the streak was over, the finish was a bit meh .. But the rest was great! And also the fact that Undertaker couldnt leave the ring by himself, proved how brutal the match was!

Randy Orton vs Christian (Over the Limit) - This match was fast paced, had a lot of great counters, and a good storyline going into it. Both guys did a great job in this match, and I guess thats all there is to say to it?

Smackdown Money in the Bank (Money in the Bank) - This match had a lot of potential winners (Cody Rhodes, Sheamus, Wade Barrett), a lot of great spots in the match (which is all a Money in the Bank match needs) and it had a huge surprise at the end, with Daniel Bryan winning, which not a lot of people expected, overall this was a great match.

Now lets take a look at 2010, where match of the year (in my mind) was Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels, this was in my opinion definately better than Undertaker vs Triple H, which it is easy to compare to.

Another great great match from 2010 took place at Bragging Rights, where Daniel Bryan & Dolph Ziggler faced off in a Champion vs Champion match. The pace of the match, I think could be compared to Orton vs Christian, the only thing this match lacked was a proper feud going into it, which Orton vs Christian had.

While this wasnt the longest match, CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio from Wrestlemania 26 was indeed a great match, if the match had had a little more time, it would have been awesome, but unfortunately it didnt get that time it needed. (And it doesnt even touch the Punk vs Cena match)

The last match I remember as a great match from 2010 was Randy Orton vs Edge vs Chris Jericho in a Triple Threat to determine the #1 contender on RAW. I think you can compare this match to the Smackdown Money in the Bank, a great match, but people probably wont remember it in a few years. It still had a lot of great spots and counters though.

Overall, Id say that 2011 had better matches than 2010 (other than these 4 matches, we can thank Dolph Ziggler) which makes it 2-2 between the years :)

The PPV's

Something that will tell us about the quality of the matches is also the PPV's. From both 2010 and 2011 there are two PPV's that I remember more than the others: Wrestlemania & Money in the Bank

Money in the Bank 2011 - I wanna talk a little bit about this PPV, because it was AWESOME and definately worth watching! It opened up with a great ladder match, which ive already talked about, the Smackdown MITB ladder match (then we went to some random diva crap, but who cares anyway), the next match was between Henry & Big Show, and while this wasnt great, I didnt mind it too much, but it furthered Henrys push and wasnt that long. Then we had the RAW MITB Match, and while it wasnt as great as Smackdowns, it was still really good! Orton vs Christian was also a great (although I was getting a little sick of it at this point), and I've already commented on the awesome main event!

If you compare this to the 2010 event (which was also great and the 2nd best PPV that year behind Mania) 2011 definately beats it.

Now .. Wrestlemania is a different story, Mania obviously always sticks out, because its the biggest PPV of them all. And the last two years Manias hasnt exactly been Wrestlemania 17 or 19, but they have been good. In my opinion, Mania 27 beats Mania 28 by a little bit, but not by much.

Overall, I gotta say that the PPV quality has been better this year than last year

So, thus far 2011 is leading 3-2 over 2010, remember to read the third and final part, where I will take a look at the Tag Team Division, The Feuds, The OMG / Mark Out Moments and last but not least, The Main Eventers!

Hello everyone! This is my second blog here. In this blog I will try to take a look at the year of 2011 in WWE (obviously, see title) by comparing it a bit to 2010

Was it good/bad? What did we get out of this year? Where did WWE get better/worse? I'll try and divide things into different categories (might have to make this a blog series, not sure yet)

We will start by taking a look at the "lowest ranks" in WWE ..

The Jobbers

When I say the word jobber, I think of the usual WWE Superstars wrestlers like JTG, Heath Slater, Trent Baretta and so on. But another name comes to mind as well: John Morrison! At the beginning of the year (actually the very first RAW of 2011) Morrison had a shot at the WWE title against The Miz.
And from there .... It went downhill, he had another WWE Title shot at Extreme Rules, until he got injured and "taken out" by R-Truth. Since then, he didnt really win many matches and turned into a jobber. My point is, this year we lost a superstar with great potential, even though he might return?
if you're a Morrison fan, you can hope that he returns in 2012, the question is, if he will ever break into the main event? Well ... Look where Mark Henry was in 2010 ... Which brings us to the next topic

The Breakout Stars

While we lost 1 superstar with great potential, we began to see a lot of potential from other superstars.

Zack Ryder - Last year, this guy was doing nothing but jobbing on superstars, but the big turning point came, when he started Z! True Long Island Story, and began the Ryder Revolution. Today, he is the United States Champion. This year he proved, that if you work hard, you can go from jobber to US Champion!

Cody Rhodes - Last year, when Legacy broke up, everyone thought that Ted DiBiase was gonna be the next big star, from that group. But it turns out, that the people who said that (including myself) were oh so wrong.
This year, Cody Rhodes has beaten Rey Mysterio at Mania, and held the IC title for 141(+) days. I believe that in 2012, Cody Rhodes will definately be a World Champion!

Mark Henry - What was Mark Henry doing last year again ?? NOTHING! But this year, he turned heel, and had a loooooong reign with the World Heavyweight Championship (one of the best in recent years imo). WWE has tryed to push Henry many times, this year, it finally happened, and I was finally entertained by Mark Henry

Dolph Ziggler - This entire year has gone well, for Ziggler, at the beginning of the year, he feuded with Edge over the World Title, before going back to the US title and having great match after great match after great match, and on the first RAW of 2012, Ziggler is getting a WWE Title shot! The question is though .. Can Ziggler keep his heat without Vickie Guerrero? I think they will split up sometime in 2012, and we will find out. I think Dolph has potential to main event Wrestlemania 28, and he might not get the title on the first RAW of 2012, but a World Title is in his sights in 2012!

R-Truth - Was anyone else annoyed by R-Truths singing and dancing last year? ... I was ... But this year, he has been hilarious and actually entertaining, he even had a WWE title shot! He was also a part of a great tag team with The Miz! Truth's heel turn has definately been for the better, will he be World Champ in 2012 though? I doubt it ..

Now .. The question we can ask ourselves is .. will these guys become World Champions in 2012? Well ... We can take a look at the breakout stars from last year. The first one that comes to mind is Wade Barrett, who last year, was the leader of The Nexus, and had multiple WWE Title shots, but never got the title. In 2011 he didnt get the World Title either, but it looks like he might get one in 2012! Two other guys that comes to mind are Del Rio & Miz, look where they are today ... and what a year they had, so the future could look bright for at least two of these guys (in my opinion, definately Ziggler & Rhodes!)

But did WWE create as many stars this year as last year?

Hmm .. This year we had Henry become a World Champion, Ziggler & Rhodes becoming ready for a World Title, Zack Ryder became US Title material and R-Truth became relevant again and we lost John Morrison

Now if we look at 5 breakout stars from last year, we had: Miz who became a WWE Champion, Del Rio & Barrett who became ready for a World Title next year (even though Barrett didnt get one), Sheamus had 2 good runs with the title, and Daniel Bryan was pushed into the US title and we lost MVP

In my opinion, 2011's breakout stars looks a bit weak, compared to 2010's, so I guess 2010 wins on that note.

Epic Fails

Our next topic is Epic Fails, which is something nobody really likes to see, so the fewer the better! When I think of Epic Fails in 2011, 3 thing come to mind:

Michael Cole vs Jerry Lawler - Okay, going into Wrestlemania, I was actually okay with this, it was actually kinda entertaining, and I thought "Ok let King have his Mania moment and beat Cole up" ... but that didnt exactly happen, no ... the feud continued for 3 DAMN STRAIGHT PPV'S! I was already fed up with it, after their first match took so much time, and after Extreme Rules, I just wanted to kill both Cole and Lawler.

Kevin Nash's text message storyline - It created a mystery in the Wrestling World... "Who sent the text! Was it Vince, Stephanie, Triple H, someone else, who wants to take over WWE?????" ... It turned out that Kevin Nash sent the damn message to himself .. WTF, is the only thing I can say to that. Something, everyone was waiting to find out, became really really dumb

Sin Cara - When it was announced that Mistico was coming to WWE, I was excited (im a big fan of Lucha Style wrestling). He did a few botches in the beginning, but I didnt mind it too much, since I thought he needed some time to get used to WWE and all that ... But then ... He botched again .. and again ... and again, and in the end ... he became very uninteresting (the lights in his matches didnt help), he ended up entering a feud, with a fake Sin Cara, because Cara himself, got suspended, a feud that nobody really cared about. Finally he ended up botching again, and injuring himself for quite a while.

Now, I can try and compare this with 3 moments from 2010.
This year, WWE tried to push Sin Cara as a high flyer, but last year, they gave Evan Bourne a short lived push, which didnt last long either, and actually ended up being an Epic Fail, because of the fact that he main evented RAW once, beat Jericho at a PPV, but got absolutely nowhere.

Cole vs Lawler, lasted too long, but something that didnt last long in 2010, was Jack Swagger's title reign, WWE decided to give the World Title to a guy who was jobbing to Santino, not a smart choice, and the title reign didnt last very long, they should have let him keep the title for a while, or not gived it to him at all, epic fail.

The last Epic Fail from 2010, also created a lot of anticipation, like the Kevin Nash storyline ... It was when John Cena got "fired" after Barrett lost at Survivor Series to Orton. Now everyone was speculating, what was gonna happen with Cena??? It turned out that he came back the week after ... Another epic fail.

This one is pretty close, but I will say that 2011 had bigger epic fails than 2010, mainly because of Lawler & Cole.

So thus far its 2-0 for 2010, come back and read part 2 later, and see if 2011 was actually any good?

In part 2, I will take a look at the Announcers, The PPV's, The Matches and maybe more!

Hope you enjoyed this blog and it wasnt too long (okay maybe it was?)
