A few things have been on my mind lately, mostly how TNA sucks worse than a leech on my ass. Then I was looking at the latest blogs, saw one dissing Mark Henry which is a load of B.S, then I noticed one pitching ideas for the Divas which compelled me to write this. Frankly, I think anyone who does not see the work the Divas have put in are blind misogynists (Look it up) who have no respect for the craft.

Do not get me wrong, at one time the Divas were a joke. Pretty girls with no talent. But obviously someone has said either it gets better or it gets going and they now have one of the hottest divisions in all of wrestling. It has been a tough journey but they have got there and if you bitter smarks cannot see that then you are not that smart.

The Kharma gimmick was one of the best of the year and would of gone far if she had not got knocked up. I am glad to see "The Divas Of Doom" have took over that mantle and are going to run wild with it. They are already getting over and are add another dimension to the division. The Kelly-Phoenix match got decent time and it was a good match. Good psychology, Kelly sold like a star and the finish was one of the best of the PPV. If anyone is not enamored by Kelly Kelly's in ring ability as well as her looks needs their head checking.

Thanks to trail blazers like Trish Stratus, Mickie James, Melina, Lita and Michelle McCool, gone are the days of botched filled matches that are just a waste of airtime. The Divas are credible and are getting more and more like the Japanese women every week and further away from the stripper outreach program that are the TNA Knockouts. Before long Dave Meltzer will have to come up with a "Manami Toyota" wrestler of the year award. Keep up the good work! And that's Jonny 3:16, 'cause I said so.

A Review: Money in the Bank

I was half expecting when I looked on Ewrestling to find many blogs praising the Money In The Bank PPV. Instead I find the same old nonsense from people who think they are smarter bookers than the people in charge and how they want the WWE to go back to a sleazy, smutty, bad taste product that was all the rage in ninety-nine. Well, let this dumb ol’ mark be the first to say, THAT WAS THE GREATEST PPV OF ALL TIMES!!! And I cannot stress that enough.

What makes it so remarkable is that to create the atmosphere which was just as electric as Tyson-Spinks, Ali-Foreman or any other big time prize fight, was that all it needed was CM Punk and a microphone. That deadly combination was enough to create not just “Match of the Year” but the greatest match of all time. And if legendary Chicago wrestling promoter Fred Kohler was alive I am sure he would agree.

It is one thing to build up a big fight, anyone can do that, even TNA, but it is another to deliver it and talk about deliver, UPS got nothing on CM Punk and John Cena. But going back to TNA for a second. Last week, Destination X, they promised to show the most dangerous match in professional wrestling, The Ultimate X match. Frankly, it was a big let down, and the main event of Styles-Daniels which was a good match fell short as absolutely nothing on the line. Last night WWE put on two of the most dangerous matches ever witnessed and a main event with everything on the line. TNA wrote some checks that bounced like Cena’s head off Punk’s knee and WWE wrote a check that proved “Money In The Bank” was a more than appropriate title.

The opening match, the “SmackDown Money In The Bank Ladder Match” was the better of the two ladder matches and I could even argue it was the greatest ladder match ever. Some of the spots were sickening. Whether it was Sin Cara getting power-bombed through a ladder by Sheamus, Daniel Bryan getting folded up like an accordion or Sheamus taking a bump on the ladder that looked almost lethal. But what set the this match apart from other ladder matches was the finish. Most finishes in ladder matches are an anti-climax. It is usually the wrong winner and I think to myself “Was that it?” and “I was expecting more”. This had the right winner and it was perfectly timed, with so much tension and suspense you would think Alfred Hitchcock booked it. You certainly got your money’s worth. I put this down to some of the guys involved, who are some of the best workers WWE has had since I can remember. Guy’s like Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, those guys don’t need to fly about like spot jockeys, they can get you off your seat with a kick. Now that’s how you work. This match was so good I won’t even mention the popcorn shot from Justin Gabriel, wait a minute, oops, I just did.

I’ll gloss over Brie Bella vs. Kelly Kelly, even though it was a good match. Because my hat has to go off to Big Show for doing his best to make Mark Henry look good and Mark Henry for making himself look incredible. I was not expecting a catch-as-can classic, but I was certainly in to it due to the amazing build up. Big Show getting smashed through cages and tables, sound guys getting launched into orbit and poor Drew McIntyre being in the wrong place at the wrong time made this an intriguing affair. With the outcome being Mark Henry becoming the biggest, baddest heel on the block.

On to the Orton-Christian match for the World Heavyweight Championship. Another fantastic match on this most loaded of loaded cards. It is one that Christian had to win and he did with the DQ. Classic Christian if I do say, with a very well worked story.

Now the “Raw Money In The Bank Ladder Match”. This was just brutal. Miz did a magic trick with a disappearing knee cap, Jack Swagger took a real nasty bump and the ladders crumpled and fell with Del Rio and Rey Rey on top of them. This match was unpredictable, unscripted chaos. The only thing I was sure of that Del Rio would win and he duly obliged.

It was now time for the main event. Probably one of the best promo videos and greatest introductions I have seen since Rock-Goldberg in 03’. I defy anyone who did not get goose bumps over CM Punk’s white hot reception or the ice cold one met with Cena. It was like the Cena-RVD match at ECW’s One Night Stand, except times by a million. You knew this was going to be an epic when the bell rang with forty-five minutes to go in the pay-per-view. That was confirmed by the mat based wrestling exchange that opened the match, these two were going to need some gas in the tank for later on. I would like to write so much about this match but my brain and the words in the English language could not possibly cover the magnitude of emotions that this contest put me through. And mark my words this was a contest. This was not sports entertainment, this was a sporting event, ably assisted by some excellent commentary which certainly painted the picture, told the story and connected the dots. In the past I’ve raised an eye brow when Michael Cole or J.R would big up a fight and sell it to death but Cole’s claim that this was, and I paraphrase, “The greatest match in WWE history” was no exaggeration and probably under sold it. The stiff shots would of made Killer Kowalski wince, the false finishes were reminiscent of Savage-Steamboat at 3‘, the submissions and submission counters were like HBK-Angle at 21‘, and when Punk kicked out of the numerous Attitude Adjustment’s it was like Rock-Austin at 17’, but the crowd responses though were like nothing else. Anyone who saw it saw history, never mind about the finish. But the finish itself left my jaw on the floor for at least five minutes after the broadcast. Anything could of happened. I was leaning towards someone cashing in “Money in the Bank”, like most. But when Vince McMahon and John La-La-Lar, er, Laryngitis? When Vince and Johnny Ace came down I thought the screw job was on the cards which would have been an awful ending to an amazing match. So Cena unlocking the STF and knocking out before Johnny Ace could get to the time keeper was about the hundrendth great thing that happened on the show, but the show was not over. A perfectly executed GTS and a three count later Punk is the WWE Champion. After I calmed down, I thought here we go, Money in the Bank time and Alberto Del Rio appeared at the request of Vince, but before he could cash it in, Punk was gone through the crowd of his adoring public and out of the arena with the WWE Championship. I’m getting chills just writing this.

Slap my backside and call me a mark, I didn’t ever think wrestling could be this good. This exceeds anything ever achieved in the times of Rock ‘n Wrestling, Attitude era or any other point in history. And all it took was CM Punk and a stick, if he told me Santa Claus was real I would probably believe him. But to quote Tazz, “What does this mean?” I’m guessing he will do a tour of New Japan and Ring Of Honor with the belt and I get a sneaking suspicion that they might do a slow burn for Wrestlemania 28. After all that was one of the reasons why he was angry with Cena that he was in the main event with Dwayne and the greatest wrestler in the world, CM Punk, was not. So if Punk comes back around the Rumble with the gold it could set up the "Match of the Year 2012" with The Undertaker. Although that’s just my imagination running away with me. To be honest I would hope they strike whilst the iron is hot. This angle is far too good to let it sit on the shelf for six months.

In closing, if you did not think last night was one of the best nights ever in the history of history and not just lived up to the hype, but blew the hype out of the water, you are not a wrestling fan. And that’s the bottom line ‘cause Jonny3:16 said so! And because CM Punk walked out of Chicago with the WWE Championship.

I need to start out by saying I am a huge fan of the WWE and Raw in particular and unlike most I believe the WWE has been on form for quite a while....

I need to start out by saying I am a huge fan of the WWE and Raw in particular and unlike most I believe the WWE has been on form for quite a while. However, I have to say tonight's show from London absolutely sucked. First of all the crowd were awful. They were flat as a pancake all night which didn't help one bit, but far as I'm concerned the content was below the standard I have come to know from Raw.

Ironically it had some big moments, like Cole getting knighted and R Truth turning heel (although he wasn't exactly much of a face to begin with). I don't know what to say about the R Truth, John Morrison segment. It was certainly better than the crowd let on, but it really set the tone for a dull, flat, cumbersome, awkward show, which Sky Sports made even better by cutting to the commercials at the wrong time and returning with a couple of minutes of the Raw logo before going back to the programme.

Moving on quickly, like Sky's editor, The Rock has killed John Cena's heat. For all his haters Cena had an equal amount of followers. A few years ago you either loved or hated him and you let him know about it. Now the fans either hate him or are indifferent. This is an injustice because we had a right to hate him before, but now he's so much better and still has so much to give. It's a sad state of affairs if he has to come out with that Mexican jumping bean just to get a pop.

On to Sin Cara now. He is spectacular and he is amazing and I was incredibly impressed with him taking down Sheamus and Swagger but after watching him with Primo and the match with Cena against Miz and Alex Riley I am not convinced. He messed up the finish last week, his timing was slightly off this week and it looked like he missed that last spot by a mile. It doesn't bode well if he is going to be in the main event picture, he looks like he should be at FCW still learning his craft. There's guys been there longer than him, who have been putting on great matches and if I were them and this high spot junkie came in and went to the front of the queue I would not be happy. We haven't seen Primo for ages and all of a sudden he's back doing the job for Cara. That smacks of people not wanting to put this new guy over who hasn't paid his dues and will more than likely hurt them. Just ask Miz, he's either the best seller in the world or Sin Cara volleyed him in the skull. That I don't have a problem with, it's better than a popcorn shot, but botches I will not abide. So stop messing up Sin Cara!

Which leads me to Sir Michael Cole. I will freely admit I'm a miner and I bet the 'Sir' gimmick will catch on but this segment was painful. Considering this was a taped show it was so drawn out and boring. It was like going back to the days of Bischoff and for the first time in a long time I was watching Raw and not enjoying it. When they brought out the fake Queen I wasn't offended as an Englishman I was offended as a wrestling fan. I hope someone sticks something unpleasant in one of those Cole hole's you see on his mine.

As I just said I'm English and even though I don't have lineage to the High King's of Ireland I do have some Irish blood in me. So I was hoping Sheamus got a good pop. And what did he get? Hardly anything from the stuck up London crowd. Considering this was a show from England and right now is probably the best time for British and Irish Superstars, they didn't get much airtime at all. No McIntyre, Wade Barrett wasn't on, Mason Ryan was hardly on, and all Sheamus did was have a bad match with Santino after mentioning the draft which one of the Bella's did earlier in the night pretty much word for word.

The thing is I wouldn't mind if the British and Irish guys didn't get much airtime just as long as we didn't get a second rate Raw like we did. It felt like a nothing show from out of nowhere, a complete misstep. They should of built up the main event of CM Punk and Randy Orton in the opening segment. But even then it was a nothing fight with nothing on the line. If anything the Morrison, Truth match should of been the main event. And quite frankly I'm getting a little bored of the New Nexus, they have two settings, stand there and schmoz. WWE needs to give them some character otherwise they are never going to get over. And what the hell are they doing with Daniel Bryan?! Not to mention Dolph Ziggler looked like a jacked up Evan Bourne. I'm beginning to worry.

In closing, my advice to the WWE is stay out of London. Go to places that will appreciate you coming to town. But if you are going to go overseas bring your A game. After watching that dross I have to say God bless the USA.

And that's the bottom line 'cause Jonny 3:16 said so!

Now, a few weeks ago if I wrote this I would probably say this has been the best build up for a Wrestlemania I can remember. Unfortunately it has tailed off since. Maybe I'm nit picking as WWE has been on top of it's game for quite some time. The highlight that sticks in my mind recently is the SmackDown Elimination Chamber match a few months back, which is a contender for Match of the Year. Well it will be unless HHH gets his way in seven days. I might be wrong but that is what the match with the Undertaker is all about, getting a big thumbs up from Dave Meltzer. But I don't expect this to be a one off or a two off. I get the feeling HHH is going try to better the two classic matches between Kenta Kobashi and Mitsuharu Misawa and HBK's battles with the Deadman by going for a hat-trick of Matches of the Year. I'm not expecting the streak to end a week tomorrow but I am expecting a helluva match.

As for The Rock I was apprehensive when he came back. The expression 'You can't go home again' comes to mind. But alas, he is just as good as he ever was. The same cannot be said for Stone Cold. I was just as excited about his return. But the fears I had for The Rock came true in Austin. It's great seeing him drinking a few beers and hitting a few Stunners but that's all he does when he returns. He was one of the best talkers going, arguably better than The Rock. So why didn't they let him rip?

Which brings me to Cena. I was definitely in the anti-Cena brigade a few years ago. Let's face it though he has improved, ten fold. So it disappoints me that one word from The Rock and the fans start booing him again. How fickle can they be, did you forget you hated him or something? Cena's rap retort in Fresno was incredible. It basically said whatever you got Rock I can beat it. Respect for Cena sky rocketed in my mind and made me think it's on! Since then it seems that he has taken the foot off the gas. It's like the powers that be didn't want Cena to get that good a reaction. They want him to be good but not as good as The Rock. Either that or they feared the edgier Cena might alienate the younger audience.

Which is something TNA have to no fear of. I have mixed feelings over TNA. A few years ago I could jump right into a TNA PPV and get into the matches. Watching Victory Road last week was like watching a not very good episode of SmackDown. The main event of Jeff Hardy and Sting was simply awful. If that doesn't win worst worked match of the year I'll eat my cat. Frankly I think Jeff Hardy has been lucky to get that top spot. He got to where he is with his crazy high-spots but there not going to keep him there. He maybe a good worker but he isn't a great worker. I was excited about the ladder match with Mr Anderson at Against All Odds, but it was a big let down. I feel sorry for Anderson, he took the brunt of some hard bumps in a match that will be forgotten sooner rather than later. The main reason why I hated it is a lot of it didn't make sense. Like the shoot style TNA have going on. I don't have a problem with it, in fact I think it's good. But they cannot mix the shoot style with the soap opera nonsense they have going on with JJ and Angle. It's contradicts and conflicts the show. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, if your stealing your ideas from Jersey Shore man you are in trouble. Cookie? How long did they spend coming up with that name. Instead of watching TV and movies I might suggest they read a book sometime. Besides the lack of creativity and originality, story is the main problem. Without a solid story the viewers have little chance to get involved and care about what is going on. Two victims of this at Victory Road were 'Cold Blood' Matt Hardy and A.J Styles. This match should of been better than it was. It's sad to see A.J lately. Not so long ago he was one of the best in the world. Maybe he's been there too long, maybe he's peaked. Either way he needs to get out whilst he still has some ability to work a great match. TNA is bringing him down.

Believe me I could go on slamming TNA but I'm going to give it some props. Samoa Joe who I thought was on A.J's level a few years back is better than him now. RVD has certainly stepped up with his in-ring performance. Mr Anderson is a genius on the mic. All he needs to do now is get better in the ring. The Bully Ray gimmick is awesome. Ric Flair is a natural and has a lot to offer as a manager. He could be this generations Freddie Blassie. The tag team division is damn good. It's great to see TNA originals Beer Money doing so well. Something about James Storm and Robert Roode tells me there destined for greatness. And do you know what I'm liking Hogan, he's a good talker. The confrontations with Anderson and Sting were top quality. But what I love to see most are people who never got the chance in WWE getting over in TNA. People like Shannon Moore and Matt Morgan. It shows that TNA has it's place and if they get focused and rid of the deadwood (Namely Russo) they can be a player. And that's Jonny 3:16, 'cause I said so!
