With Mark Henry's recent World Heavyweight Championship victory...

With Mark Henry's recent World Heavyweight Championship victory over Orton, there have been numerous people listing off other superstars who should have been World Champions (Regal, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Bob Holly, etc.) and who should never have held a World Title (names I've heard are Yokozuna, Swagger, and of course David Arquette). These all have valid arguments behind them, but that's not the point of this blog. The point of this blog is to focus on Hall of Famers (or should be Hall of Famers) that never won the World Heavyweight or WWE titles in their career. I'm only mentioning a few names, because lord knows there are plenty of wrestlers who never won that should have. I'm going to focus on a few of the main names in my opinion, so feel free to sound off below on who I left out that should be included. And of course, bring on the criticism as well. Also, if you love to talk wrestling and debate, join the World Wrestling Order on Facebook. We hold debates at every WWE show online, talk wrestling, and have a good time. Contact Quincy Jones (http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=724031869) or myself (http://www.facebook.com/#!/ZACAAF) if you're interested. I'll mention this a few times throughout this blog. Now, onto the worthy never-were Champions...

What better way to kick off the list than with the man who changes the questions when we thought we had the answers? Hot Rod, the Rowdy one, Roddy Piper himself. This man has been in the business since 1972 and still shows up occasionally just as golden on the mic as before, can make the crowd love him or hate him, and has made more crappy movies than Hulk Hogan (not really a reason he should've been champ, just something I think is a fun fact). For a full run-down of Piper's career, check out this site. But for our purposes, I'll focus on his WCW and WWE accomplishments. He has an extensive championship history, but never won the big one. In WWE, all he ever mustered was the Intercontinental Title and in WCW the United States Championship. He of course had the Infamous Piper's Pit which of course paved the way for The Cutting Edge and the Highlight Reel. Piper had all the makings of a champion-A great look (in his hay-day), great in-ring ability, was extremely over with the fans, and of course was golden on the mic. I could go on and on (much like I could about the others I'm going to mention, but I want to keep it short and sweet) about why he deserves it, but for these reasons and his multitude of accomplishments in the business, Piper should have won the big one.

The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase. At one point, the most despised wrestler in all of wrestling. In my opinion, one of the best, if not the best, heels of all time. This guy had millions of dollars, which he always reminded us of, and fooled us into believing he'd give some of it away. To encompass his dastardly deeds and his brilliance on the mic, check this out. He's been in the business since 1975, and like the other members on this list, has won numerous championships across organizations, but never won the big one. He had tremendous feuds with Dusty Rhodes, Undertaker, Bret Hart, and many others. The man created his own title! Not to mention he was the head of one of the greatest stables of all time, and has one of the greatest characters of all time. He had great technical in ring ability, tremendous charisma, was over with the fans as the top heel in the business at one point, and is just a legend in the business. Again, you can look up his personal history for yourselves and watch the links in the videos, this is just an outline. He should've won the WWE title (I realize he was awarded the title when Andre forfeited it, but it was not an official reign and was immediately vacated, so it does not count). And we all know that he has the best evil laugh ever. Everybody has a price.

Owen Hart, may he rest in peace. Owen Hart is truly one of the all time greats. He overcame the shadow of his brother Bret to solidify himself as one of the best in the business. He is also an unofficial champion, as he beat Bret but the match was restarted which Bret won. Now those 3 video clips aren't from that match, but they are from their epic enounter at WrestleMania 10. This clip alone shows how great Owen was in the ring. He was underrated on the mic and never got the push he deserved. He also won other titles outside of WWE, and while in WWE won the King of the Ring, European Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and 4 Tag Team Championships. Its a real shame that WWE never gave him the huge push he deserved, because he was truly something special. He had all the makings of a WWE champion. RIP Owen.

"Mr. Perfect" wasn't just a gimmick or moniker for Curt Henning-it was true. The man was perfect. He was perfect in the ring, on the mic, in the commentary booth, and apparently at all sports. Just look at this tribute video, it shows it all. Why Curt Henning was never awarded the WWE title, I will never know. He had it all-Charisma, Talent, Look, and work ethic (at least in his younger days). He had many great feuds, arguably most notably with Bret Hart.
His matches with Hart were always great. These clips are from 1989, before their epic encounters in 1991 and 1993. He was probably the only wrestler who could have a fisherman suplex as his finisher and call it a Perfect-Plex. His stint in WCW could've been better, but his return at the Rumble (click the previous link to watch) was epic. He had a great showing and proved he could still hang with the WWE's best at the time. It's unfortunate he didn't get the chance then (and especially unfortunate how he left the company in 2002) and that he didn't get the chance to be the best in his prime. I know I've said that all of these wrestlers have had it all, but Henning had it all. At a time when tremendous young talent reigned supreme in the WWE, Henning was at the top of his game. He just never made it to the top of the WWE. I honestly believe that if guys like Hogan and Savage weren't around at this time (WWE was loaded when these guys were at their prime, and they put their faith in Hart and Michaels only instead of the men on this list) then a few if not all of these men would have won the WWE title, maybe on multiple occasions. Curt Henning was one of the best ever, and he is missed. RIP.

Yes they did, Batista, because you can't unlike these fine legends I just spoke of.

When guys like Roddy Piper, Ted DiBiase, Owen Hart, and Curt Henning never won the major wrestling titles but guys like Batista did, there is something wrong with that scenario. The roster when Batista won the title wasn't as strong as when the legends were active, granted, but there were guys who deserved a title reign more than Batista. I know there are a ton of guys I did not list, but that is for the sake of time and space. We know not everyone who is deserving of a title reign gets it, but these are guys who definitely should have gotten one no matter what.

You know plenty of other guys who never won the WWE or World Heavyweight Championships but should have (Rick Rude, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Jimmy Snuka, etc) so sound off below. Do you agree with the ones I've listed? Disagree? Want to add someone else? Sound off below. And again, if you want to join a group on FaceBook that talks wrestling, has debates after every WWE show, and is just a flat out fun group, join the World Wrestling Order. Contact myself or Quincy Jones (contact info above) and we'll get you in. Remember the legends! Hope for good things to come!

Two blogs in two days?? I'm on FIRE!!!!!!!! Also, I'm finally getting excited about the WWE product again (sanz Cena winning at NOC). But, good things could be on the horizon. Anyway, on to the topic at hand.

I've noticed that over the past few months, the Anonymous Raw GM podium would be there on and off, but since Triple H took over as COO its been there on a consistent basis. We haven't heard from the Anonymous GM in quite some time. But the podium has been there consistently recently. And I think that's because he (or she, but I'm thining he) will be introduced as an on screen character in the near future. In my mind, there are 3 choices that make sense for who the Anonymous GM is, and 1 that would just be plain awesome but isn't likely. And I hope it ends soon and moves on to something bigger and better. So who could the GM possibly be?

Ted DiBiase, Sr. The Million Dollar Man. He's still got excellent mic skills as shown when he was the guest GM. He's at Raw every week anyway, and his son Ted DiBiase, Jr. has tremendous talent and potential, he's just underutilized. Ted DiBiase could be revealed as the Anonymous GM, push and protect his son sort of like Vince did with Stephanie. Plus he could have great interactions with HHH, Johnny Ace, Punk, etc. He is a legend, he's still money on the mic, and he gives an opportunity for something new and can push a younger talent.

Mick Foley! He is supposedly returning to WWE sometime in the not too distant future, and we all know how good Foley is. It could present him with an opportunity for one last hoorah with the WWE and put on one last great match. He was great when he was the Commissioner, and he and HHH could really have some fun segments, plus, like DiBiase, he is still gold on the mic and could have some great interactions with the younger talent and vets. Foley is a viable option for Anonymous Raw GM.

Haha, I GOTCHA! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!

How fitting would it be if Vince McMahon himself was the Anonymous GM? For all the GMs, Commissioners, etc that he has fired over the years, he secured himself an authority spot regardless of being fired as COO (on screen of course). It would make perfect sense for McMahon to secure this spot for himself. He didn't trust anyone else to do it, and if something happened with his COO position he had a backup plan. Plus, it allows for the storyline I hope for to play out. I still Believe HHH is behind everything: Nash, Miz, Truth, etc. He's eliminated himself as a candidate so he can dupe us all--again. Remember, Triple H fooled us all into believing it was Rock, not Rikishi, who ran over Stone Cold. He laid out Shawn Michaels in the parking lot. He got everyone to believe DX would reform, did all the DX stuff, then Pedigreed Michaels. He's been wanting to be a heel for a while now anyway. This allows for that. At Hell in A Cell, my bold prediction (and wishful thinking) is that the "fired" people return--Nash, Miz, Truth, and possibly even Vince (if he doesn't return at HIAC, he would return at Raw a la a GM announcement-something like the time has come. HHH has went too far, and its time for the GM to show himself, tonight!" or something like that). Nash, Truth, and Miz interfere in the triple threat main event, attack punk and cena. HHH comes out, berates them for a bit, then attacks punk with Nash. Miz and Truth attack Cena, and Del Rio wins the belt and joins the DWO (degenerate world order). This brings back Vince, who has Johnny Ace on his side since HHH duped him and framed him too, and rallies Cena, Punk, and AirBoom to feud with the dWo. On Raw, however, Awesome Truth beats AirBoom for the tag titles, so the dWo has the COO, WWE champ, Tag team Champs, and an enforcer in Nash. IMO, I also think if this happened HHH would recruit either Swagger or Ziggler. Vince would need a big man of his own, who I would love to be Undertaker but that isn't likely. A more realistic option would be Big Show. On SmackDown, after Henry and Orton feud, Kane could return and feud with Henry. Orton could feud with Rhodes. And Christian could feud with Sheamus. Now, if all this happened, I would say the brand split ends, the locker room splits 50/50, storylines carry over from show to show, and everyone has a feud a la the attitude era (where even midcarders had something to do). It's a long shot, but anything can STILL happen in WWE, right? Right?

I've done a lot of wishful thinking already, but The Rock as Anonymous GM would be just plain awesome. He's gonna be back for PPVs anyway, could show up for a few Raws, if nothing else via satellite, and could do what he wanted with his and Cena's match. Him and Triple H have always been good at bickering, and that would be quite entertaining. But, this is probably the least likely to happen out of anything I've said.

So what do you think? Will they announce who the Anonymous Raw GM is soon? Is there someone I missed that would make sense? Or someone I didnt say that would just be awesome? What storylines would you like to see with Miz/Truth/Nash/Punk/Cena/HHH? Sound off below!

Ladies and gentleman, your new World Heavyweight Champion, Mark Henry.

Why give him a title run right now? He's past his prime, right? He can't handle the number one spot. He has no mic skills. He didn't work for where he's at. He can't get over with the fans.

BULL. SHIT.

Mark Henry definitely deserves this title run. It may be a little overdue, I personally believe that he should have won the title in 06 from either Angle or Mysterio, but WWE had other plans for him (as they seemingly always did, or didn't ever know what to do with him) and then he got injured unfortunately. That has been a common theme for his career, not to the extent of some, but he has been injured a good bit which may have played into the reason he had been held back for so long. But not anymore. It's Mark Henry's time, and we're all in for a tour of the Hall of Pain.

But before we get into why it makes sense right now, let's explore why he deserves the title in the first place.

Now I'm not going to give you a rundown of Henry's career, you can wikipedia that if you want. But I will touch on a few aspects of his career that in my mind explain why he deserves the title. He was a member of the Nation of Domination. A very underrated stable in my mind, and one that should be counted as one of the greatest stables of all time. They had a tremendous feud with DX. From the NOD, The Rock, Ron Simmons, Godfather, and even D'Lo for a while all went on to have successful singles/tag team careers (obviously some more successful than others). In my mind, Mark Henry got the short end of the stick here. We all know what the Rock went on to do. Ron formed the APA with JBL (Acolytes initially). D'Lo won numerous midcard titles when they actually meant something. And what did they do with Mark henry? Turn him into a sex addict and made him have a baby hand with Mae Young. Why? The wrestling world will never know. But Henry should have been given more sooner. Here's a video of an early match he had with The Rock. It basically supports everything I'm going to talk about in regards to his ability.

Henry has great in ring skills for a big man with a powerlifting background. Most everyone forgets that he was trained by Bret and Stu Hart. He doesnt have the agility that other big men (Umaga) had, but he does possess great strength (he was the strongest man in the world at one point, now its just a gimmick) and surprisingly good in ring ability. His mic work actually isn't that bad. He's just been limited by his big man moniker over the years. WWE wants big men to be big men, nothing else. They're either dominant, or "funny" as evidenced by Big Show, Khali, and Mark Henry. Mark was a public figure for WWE when he was injured in the early 2000s as well, another thing a lot of people forget. He was on the verge of breaking out of his sexual chocolate/jobber status, then he got injured.

When he returned as the world's strongest man, everything looked up. Then it went down. And then up. And then back down. He won the ECW heavyweight title and was pushed before that against Angle and Taker, but he never fulfilled his potential. He never finished that big push. And that's hurt him. BUt at the same time, it has helped him. Its helped him get where he is today. And its helped him finally show what he can do. His domination shtick is something we've seen before, but it always ended abruptly. This time, lets hope it sticks for a bit and he breaks free of the stranglehold he's been in by the WWE.

Now, why does he deserve the title right now? For one, his character is spot on. He's never been better, never been more into being the world's strongest man. He's on fire, and it shows, especially in his post match interview at NOC. He's worked his ass off for 15 years to get to this spot, and he deserves it. Now I know there are people who disagree which is perfectly fine, and there are people who will say others deserve a title who haven't gotten it (which they are right, especially guys like Regal and Jerry Lawler) but they're not where Mark Henry is right now. He's embracing the opportunity like never before. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, so I don't know how Regal is or isn't embracing his opportunity. But WWE isn't giving him anything to work with, but they are with Henry. Regal should've won the title when he was king of the ring (which, so should Mark Henry when he won, but apparently KOTR doesn't mean anything like it used to). So, Mark has earned it, built up nicely, and now he is a breath of fresh air even though he's been in the business 15 years (all with WWE).

Face it-Orton was dangerously close to crossing in to Cena territory. He almost put over Christian, but he got the belt back way to quick. Hopefully the same doesn't happen with Henry. I don't think it will, and I think this gives Cody Rhodes an opportunity to shine. He can feud with Orton now that he isn't the champ. Henry has been built as a dominant heel, more dominant than in the past. I think they're gonna keep his momentum. Now they have options as to who he should feud with next. They can really use Henry to push young talent like Ted DiBiase and Sheamus. My guess is Sheamus steps up to the plate next. But Henry makes sense as a dominant veteran to use who can put guys over. I could go on and on, but that's the gist. I look forward to reading comments. Give me your thoughts, and Let me know if you agree or disagree, and why. And don't hold back.

What's up everyone? This is longtime EWN browser and lifetime WWE fan (and superstar of the Smackdown videogames) kingez, aka Zac Funari (you may have seen me post in the comment sections before). The purpose of this blog is to share my opinion on what the WWE truly needs to be awesome again. I'm a wrestling fan, so I like the wrestling product no matter how crappy creative has gotten. And lately WWE has been pretty crappy on the creative side (aside from, of course, CM Punk's recent explosion). Now could I or even you put together a better story than they've been producing? Maybe, maybe not. But that doesn't mean we can't share our opinions. Blasting WWE creative is commonplace, and its not entirely fair to compare today's product to that of the attitude era but its inevitable given the day and age we live in. Creative has lost touch with the fans though, and that is a problem. Its not like they can't go online and find out what the fans want these days.

So what's the solution? I don't think there is any one solution that will save the WWE (yes Chris Jericho, that even means you). Anyone can say "well they need to push younger talent and utilize underutilized wrestlers" and "get rid of this PG crap". I don't despise the PG era, but I do sorely miss the good ol' days of TV-14 when bitch and ass were commonplace. And puppies were nice too ;) I hate to say this but in WWE's defense it is difficult to push younger talent when teh crowd isn't into them at all. Its one thing to be lightly cheered or lightly booed, but when the crowd is silent to your entrance and match? Not good. Now the WWE does need to push younger and underutilized talent, that's a given. I see why they are hesitant though, it could be bad for business. Or it could be brilliant and the next huge superstar could be born (Check Survivor Series 1996 with the debut of Rocky Maiavia. Piss poor crowd reaction initially, turns into arguably the biggest superstar WWE has ever seen). Business needs risks, as I know Vince McMahon knows. You have to take risks to succeed. WWE has stopped taking risks. Its good for the little Jimmy's out there, but bad for us seasoned fans. Take a risk with a young talent and see what happens. Its not like there's a shortage of young talent these days. If one bombs, shell out another. That's how the WWE's machine works.

So now to the meat and potatoes: What the WWE truly needs to thrive again. They need as i mentioned above to take more risks with talent and storylines and quit playing it safe. Now there are 2 other things they desperately need, 1 of which is possible and the other, well, not so much: 1) A new superstar and 2)Legitimate competition. The WWE hit a homerun with CM Punk. He can be the new superstar the WWE so desperately needs. I've always been a huge CM Punk fan and thought he's been underutilized since Day 1. I'm thrilled they're finally letting him fulfil his potential. At least they are for now. Recent history would suggest his time will end and Cena's time will unfortunately still be now, but I doubt that will happen because they need another superstar and CM Punk is that guy. Now that they're letting him run with it, they should give credibility back to the other titles (intercontinental and US) and develop young talent with those (they're onto something with Ziggler, they just need to give him a little bit more of a push and then guys like him, Kofi, Ryder, Riley, and Bourne can really take off). So they are on the right track with CM Punk. They need to do something else with Del Rio though, and stop force feeding me him. Stop telling me his destiny. What has he done other than win the Rumble and Money in the Bank? He hasn't shown me anything spectacular. Blow me away with an amazing match or show me some excellent mic skills. I'm not impressed with Del Rio and that's because they have just been forcing how good this guy is down my throat and not showing me. CM Punk though is right on track and hopefully he becomes the next huge superstar the WWE needs and opens the doors for others (I'm looking at you Riley).

As for the second thing the WWE needs, legitimate competition, that aint gonna happen anytime soon unless they create it themselves (which won't happen) or TNA, ROH, and New Japan all join forces and create a mega brand, which doesn't seem likely either. So since there isnt a better overall product (we all know ROH has better wrestling, but the overall product isn't better) out there and nobody is even close, the WWE doesn't have to go that extra mile to be great. They know they're great and the best and have been for a long time now. They know that nobody is threatening them at all like WCW did. Therefore, we get what CM Punk perfectly described as the WWE Brand because what else is there? Impact Wrestling? I like the roster but the people in charge and execution is piss poor. Like I said, there is no better complete overall product out there now or on the horizon to threaten and push the WWE. And since that's the case, we're going to be treated with a mediocre WWE product instead of the edgy product we want.

The WWE needs to capitalize on CM Punk and create a new Superstar. Then hopefully the Miz, Riley, Del Rio, and others can follow suit and become as much as I hate saying this the next core like Triple H, Rock, Michaels, Austin, and Taker (there is obviously no comparison here, but I'm just trying to get my point across). We have Cena, Orton, Christian (finally), and now Punk. We need more so we'll see what happens. Since there is no competition for the WWE, we'll have to settle for what we get.
