Bound For Glory Review: Greatest PPV of 2011?

Hey guys Knox here, just seen BFG and I am absolutely baffled at how freaking amazing this was. I'm a WWE mark for sure and I tolerate TNA but they delivered big time. Easily better than Wrestlemania and I stand by that.
The Hogan face turn was priceless yet predictable and everything else was freaking sweet. Can I please run you through this match by match?
Just a reminder, this is my 3rd blog claiming PPV of the year. I blogged on Destination X, MITB 2011 and now BFG and yes this BFG PPV had alot of flaws but I still have no problem considering it the PPV of the year.
Match 1: Brian Kendrick vs Austin Aries(C) - X-Division Title Match
Pretty sweet opener. Philly is a ROH city so Aries got a very huge pop and was over the whole night. Great Great match. I'm finding it kind of hard to take Kendrick serious sense we have to see his bare feet every week, its annoying.
The match was filled with cool spots but still alot of great wrestling. Kendrick took some serious bumps, I can only hope he's ok. Tons of cool reversals but at the end Aries retained his gold. 4/5.
Match 2: Rob Van Damn vs Jerry Lynn
Some pretty huge bumps were taken in this one. RVD's head was slammed on the guard rail after a botched power bomb by Lynn. Tons of botches.
Still doesn't take away from the great performances. RVD was really hurt which caused the ending to be a little weak. He pulled off a Shane O Mac style turn buckle drop kick and got the victory like that.
He was in perfect set for the frog splash. The latter was placed on top of Lynn but RVD went for the pin instead. I think this was because he was actually hurt and couldn't afford to take the pain of frogging him on the ladder. They ended this with a huge and a handshake. 3/5.
Macth 3: Samoa Joe vs Crimson vs Matt Morgan
Great bout. Honestly was a bit boring but there were some pretty neat spots. This was a rather quick bout in which Crimson got the win. Ok so I wouldn't call it great but a win is a win.
Crimson had a very large amount of boos after his victory. This was a very very pro Samoa Joe crowd in Philly. 3/5
Match 4: Mr. Anderson vs Bully Ray
Before this match. Bully Ray cut a promo stating how he raped the Philly audience for years for every penny they had and called them a bunch of red necks. He proved why he is the best heel today in wrestling. Expect a huge push for Bully Ray, he's over.
The match was very very very good. These two guys no how to use weapons, I'll say. They had the guard rail in the ring and performed countless amounts of brutal spots with that.
Anderson has Bully positioned on a table outside of the ring. Went to the top rope and completely missed the table with the Swanton Bomb. He botched big time. But then he stood up Bully and gave him an amazing Mic Check through the table which looked better than what the Swanton could've been. He got the 3 count and the win over Bully Ray. Great change of plans by the two at the last minute to make this match look great. Hats off 5/5.
Match 5: Fatal 4 Way Knockouts Championship Match: Karen Angle Special Referee. Winter(C) vs Madison Rayne vs Mickie James vs Velvet Sky
Honestly this was one of the weak Knockouts matches I seen. It still was better than anything the WWE divas are doing however. Karen Angle was knocked out. Tracy Brooks stepped in as ref as Sky hit her finisher on Rayne to become the new Knockouts Champion for the first time. 3/5.
Match 6: AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels - I-Quit Match:
Typical ending but definitely a 5 star match. Daniels was on the mic verbally insulting AJ's wife Wendy and stating "he was gonna brutally murder her husband on television and to put AJ's kids to bed so they won't have to see the murder of their father".
AJ went in for the kill, went for a screw driver and Daniel's quit on the spot. Typical win for the good guy in an I-Quit match. As far as wrestling goes, 5/5.
Jeff Jarrett & Jeff Hardy segment:
Jeff Jarrett cuts a promo threatening Hardy. Hardy comes out to new music, grabs the mic, and then beats the hell out of Jarrett in one of those back and forth brawls were a million people try to break it up.
Security, D-Lo Brown, Al Snow and others come down to break it up. We get a huge "D-LO" chant and a huge "Head" chant for Al Snow and D-Lo, it was a great moment for those two.
Match 7: Hulk Hogan vs Sting
This was as good as it could be on a wrestling standpoint. Hogan came out to maybe the biggest face pop of the night. Hogan had on a blue jeans and a white t-shirt with knee pads outside of his jeans lol. Sting came to the ring in a Hogan shirt. Hogan announced Flair in his corner and out comes Flair.
They both are bleeding very bad. Sting makes Hogan tap. Immortal comes out and Eric Bischoff knocks out his son (the referee) for not doing what he was told. The face turn was so predictable for Hogan but the crowd wanted it so bad and were very hot for this.
Sting was getting his ass whooped and crawled at Hogan's feet and yelled "Save me Hogan, help help me Hogan". Hogan turned face and beat the asses of the Immortal guys with Sting. They then beat the hell out of Bischoff.
Dixie was in the crowd crying for joy. Hogan and Bischoff exchanged in a handshake and a hug which was a very great epic moment in wrestling. I'll go on a limb and call it one of the greatest moment. You could see the tears in the crowd's eyes and this was what the fans wanted.
Match 8: Bobby Roode vs Kurt Angle(C) - TNA World Title
This was cool match. It ended early because angle got hurt in which the Ref threw up the "X" symbol. The crossface was used alot in this match by Roode.
Very cool match. Angle or Roode used one of Edge & Christian's moves. I can't remember wwhich but everybody in the chat section was saying it. This was cool. It ended at a random moment with Angle retaining the gold.
Roode looked pissed and the show ended. 4/5.
Conclusion:
The crowd in Philly was absolutely insane. They were awesome. The PPV could've been much better if so many guys didn't get hurt but the way it goes. I call it the PPV of the year because of the way the crowd was involved was so insane and intense. People at home were at the edge of their seats. It was out of this world.
And the interference level was very low. They did not cheat us on any mainevents.
This PPV had a mixture of everything. This PPV provided us with the "Original ECW style", "The Attitude Era", a piece of WCW, the UFC style pre match promos and TNA overall all in one. I was very impressed.
I guess we'll have to see what happens at Survivor Series. I could 2nd guess if BFG was the PPV of the year but I know for damn sure it topped Wrestlemania 27.
I'm not exactly calling it the best PPV this year but I'm sure as hell considering it the best. We can debate it with MITB and like I said before, we have to see what Survivor Series is all about this year. I am for sure saying that BFG delivered beyond everyone's expectations.
Thanks guys and please leave feedback. Thanks and be safe and checkout my song below.
