WWE 12 and WWE 13

Rate this Entry
So I was sitting here playing WWE 12 and thought I would share my thoughts on what I like and don't like in this newest WWE game, and what I hope to see in the next game that comes out. After you've read it, tell me what you think, if you agree with me, or you want to see something different.

First off, I really enjoy WWE 12. I find it semi refreshing from last years game. I'm going to get the negatives out of the way first though. Obviously I am one of the people who don't like the road to wrestlemania, as I know there are other people who feel the same. I also don't like the legends they chose for this game. Yeah I am glad Steve Austin, The Rock, Ricky Steamboat, Booker, Kevin Nash, I'm glad, but, wrestlers like Animal, Ax and Smash, Hawk, Mr McMahon, Vader, I think they could have made better choices. I would have rather they had Bret Hart or included HBK instead of making him a DLC. Something else that bugs me, is some of the customization. The promoted this saying you could change the shows, make your own brand, and that's all well and good, but here is what I am meaning. For the Raw and Smackdown shows you can change the arena, name of the show, and the roster, but for the mid week show, it sticks to the rosters for the two main shows. I found that slightly disappointing because I thought you could have 3 separate shows and three separate brands. Another thing that bothers me, is the injury aspect. Granted it is different, and I could see how it makes the game more realistic, but to give you an example. Rey Mysterio became injured, but then the following week on Raw returned. I mean that doesn't realistically happen. Other than that, I like everything else. What I specifically liked about this game, is the following. I like that they fixed the tag teams. It was so frustrating in the last game when you'd create a tag team and then after a week it would be disbanded. I also like the remarkable match, when your player is in a feud, but, in the same breath it is frustrating because at times it just doesn't make sense you know? One week people are beating the crap out of one another and the next they are teaming up or something. Just unrealistic. I do enjoy the championship choices. I also like the arena creation. It's different and I really hope next year they advance farther on this. All in all though, I would say WWE 12 is a step towards the right direction. Is it the greatest wrestling game of all time? No..but is it an improvement from the abysmal run of SD vs Raw? I would say so.

Now...on to WWE 13. Keep in mind, these are just things I'd like to see in the next game, your opinion might differ from mine, and hey, if they do, kudos to you. Now...lately the road to wrestlemania mode has sucked...just do away with it. Put more of a focus on the Universe mode. If they did a lot more to the universe mode to make it indepth, I would purely buy the game for the possibilities of what the Universe mode would bring. I don't remember which SD v Raw game it was, I believe 07? Was where they had the GM mode and you'd initiate feuds with storylines. I think that should be brought back. Not the GM mode, but the feuds aspect. I think the Universe mode could benefit from having 20 or so superstar/tag team feuds, and 10 or so diva feuds. You pick which one to run with, who is in it, and as the feud progresses, there are different paths it can go. Depending on who wins, what occurs during the match, will change the direction of the feud and storyline. You might have 20 storylines/feuds to choose from, but each has 4 or 5 different endings, and multiple different cut scenes for each. Personally, I would really enjoy that. Another thing I would like, is at the end of the match, you are giving the option to simply exit, attack your opponent, or offer a friendship/alliance. I think that could be another great way to start feuds or tag teams. Something else I would like to see is a bigger focus on DLC packs. I read somewhere they only can get like 3 out otherwise it will impact the release date of the next game. That is all fine and good, but don't take up space on the roster with wrestlers who don't even wrestle anymore or who aren't even relevant. Use the DLC packs to include wrestlers that weren't able to make the cut because they debut to late. The final thing I'd like to see is an increase in # of wrestlers per match. Here is what I mean by that. One of my favorite matches to play are tag team or 3 on 3 elimination matches, and I think it would great to be able to have 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 survivor series matches. I mean, they are still relevant and used on shows in the E now a days. Anyways, that's what I hope to see or would like to see in the next game. What do you think? What do you want to see?

Was the rock an unlockable or DLC? I LOVE WWE '12 best wrestlin game since my ultimate fav Here Comes The Pain! As for road to wrestlemania.... i had a bit of a love hate relationship with that... loved the storylines and the twists (arn anderson twist was the best) and i did enjoy the WCW themed unlockables as im a bit of an old school wrestlin fan. What i didnt like... the fact you could be beaten the livin shit outta ur opponent then when ya press the button over their head n it goes to cutscene and outta nowhere their beatin the shit outta u instead, just felt it should of been more consistant with previous actions/fights.
I agree i also would like to see more people in the ring at a time in the next game, but i think any more than 6 and consoles would lag out to much

Great blog! I agree on most of your points. Though i find it a bit weird that you didn't mention the actual in-match gameplay
