Top 5 Heat Drawers in the WWE

Rate this Entry
Hey guys Knox here, hope all is well. I'm writing this blog because the WWE is in a pretty rough position when it comes to heat drawers and I really must speak on it you all don't mind. Bare with me. The issue here is that the main heel superstars are not drawing heat and the wrong people are drawing heat. Read my top 5 list and the reasons why I feel this way.

Top 5 Current Heat Drawers in the WWE:

5. Wade Barrett
First of all the reason Wade Barrett is the only true heel that draws heat is because he's not booked as the typical whiny crybaby heel. He actually wins his matches fairly not to mention that he was booked to take out one of the WWE's biggest stars Randy Orton.

Currently he's the only heel being booked right. He's a having a similar run to Sheamus's run when he was a heel. Barrett has the promo game on lock and that's also where his heat comes from.

4. Michael Cole
He's a great heel and I for one am a huge Cole mark but he's drawing heat for the wrong reasons. People legitimately hate Cole and find him annoying but if you ask me he's doing his job right.

3. John Cena
He's a babyface for crying out loud and receives the most heat out of any WWE superstar and that's impressive. Of course he gets heat for many different reasons. Some find him bland, some feel he can't wrestle, some are just plain sick of his gimmick (me) and some think he's hogging the spotlight.

Point blank Cena will go down in the top 5 for most successful wrestlers of all time because he draws a reaction whether its good or bad. His fans will shout to the heavens and his haters will always have their voices heard. Its a win win for Cena but even I agree that his heel turn is well overdue.

2. John Laurinaitis
People literally just don't like this guy, similar to Michael Cole. I think people actually like Cole and still boo him but I can guarantee you that 95% of the WWE audience hates Johnny Ace. I like Ace because I see what he's trying to do and he comes off a bit humorous in my opinion.

I think we have to credit most of his heat to Cm Punk. Punk buries him every week and they have a modern day McMahon vs Austin feud going on here. What's interesting is that McMahon was the better talker between him & Austin but Cm Punk is better talker between he & Johnny Ace and that's what makes this special.

Stone Cold would usually go over on Vince because of his physical violence on Vince which include 50 million stunners. But Cm Punk is going over on Johnny Ace based on what he's saying to him and how he's verbally burying this man. I love what I see.

1. Vickie Guerrero
She's easily number one, no doubt about it. Everyone knows she's a nice lady and she's doing her job. She really only gets booed alot because she has no music but you still can't say she isn't doing her job. She's awesome btu I would like to see her & Dolph split. Dolph is ready to be on his own and capture the WWE title.

So Whats the Problem?
The problem is that the top 4 heat seekers aren't even suppose to get heat. Three of them aren't even active wrestlers and the other guy is a babyface. That's the main issue going on with the WWE right now, they forgot how to make a good heel.

How to make a good heel?
I can't believe we the fans have to tell a multi-million dollar corporation how to succeed but we do. Heels are what makes wrestling what it is. Heels are what sells tickets. Its the only place you can go see people insult the consumers and treat them like hell and that's funny.

There are many types of heels which are the funny heels (old Santino), there are monster heels (Mark Henry, Kane), there are cocky heels (Dolph Ziggler, Chris Jericho), and there are serious heels that get the job done (old Randy Orton, Wade Barrett).

The serious heels that get the job done are the one's the WWE need to try and mold. I don't see why every heel has to cheat to win. I think seeing Dolph Ziggler pin Cm Punk without cheating is very believable. I feel jack Swagger pinning Cena without cheating is very believable.

Simple book the heels to actually win and showcase their true in ring talents. Heels cheating to win every match does noting to put them over and that's why they receive no heat to this day.

The Reason Wrestling is so Predictable?
Wrestling is predictable because we know how every match is going to go. If I'm watching Raw and I see John Cena vs Cody Rhodes we already know one of two things will happen. Either Cena wins clearly or Cody Rhodes cheats and gets some kind of pin fall. Not to mention Cody getting himself DQ or something but the same stuff happens.

The only time you really see heels win fairly is on NXT & Superstars. Tyson Kid wins all his matches fairly because they the WWE doesn't mind seeing a babyface like Alex Riley or Trent Baretta lose every week.

The Main Problem: WWE are protecting their Babyfaces too much
This is the true issue at hand. The WWE feels like Cena, Orton or Cm Punk losing a match fairly will take away from their credibility but that is truly wrong. They are super over. Nothing will change that.

So like I said the only babyfaces that truly lose matches fairly are guys like Trent Baretta, Alex Riley and Justin Gabriel on Superstars in which the WWE could give a damn if they lose credibility or not.

Conclusion:
I know I went off on a rant but its a shame when the actual heel performers are getting no heat. I think heels are what made the Attitude Era so successful. A cocky bastard like Jericho or Kurt Angle could fairly make the Rock or Stone Cold tap on any given night. WWE needs to bring that unpredictable anything can happen factor back to wrestling.

Thanks guys for reading and I hope you all enjoyed. Be safe and leave feedback. Until then.

I will start by saying I don't agree when you say the top 4 people aren't suppose to get heat. Vickie and Johnny Ace's jobs are pretty much to get some heat. However, it is sad that heel wrestlers aren't on this list. I tried to think of anybody else in the entire organization that gets more and I can't think of anybody. It is a big problem.

Yeah, pretty much the only person on this list who isn't 'supposed' to get heat is Cena... and I'm not even sure about that anymore. It's pretty obvious the 'E is not only capitalizing on, but encouraging the Cena hate with those shirts.

I think the heel/face dynamic they have with Cena and Ziggler is pretty impressive (honestly we get the same thing w/ Zig, but reversed. No matter how hard he tries to sell himself as an ass, we love his mic and ring skills. The only time he generated any kind of heat w/ me was against Foley last monday). If they can do this intentionally - make a star heel/face with one group and reverse the roles with the same group with another star ... then you can have a feud where both stars play both roles, just to different crowds. THIS is why I would love to see a Cena/Ziggler feud in the future.

That was a great list no doubt, but I would definitely have to add in Cody Rhodes somewhere. He has gotten some incredible heat as of late. Cody got over a squash feud with Booker-T, and will soon be feuding with his own brother Dustin "Golddust" Rhodes.

So who would I take out to keep it a "True Top 5"? Michael Cole if you ask me. I naturally hate him, and the rest of the commentator's team, because they spend too much time bickering, and don't call the match like the days of old.
