That Wrestling Blog - Where Do They Go From Here?

What's poppin folks, RatedATB back at it again with another edition of That Wrestling Blog. It seems as of late that's there's an excess amount of good talent just floating around not doing a whole lot and it has me thinking what they're really doing with some of this dead weight. I think it's time for some repackaging, refocusing, and future endeavoring because there's a vast amount of people that could and should be used but just aren't. So, without further ado...
Kofi Kingston -
Poor, poor Kofi. One week he's a high profile wrestler, being featured at every ppv and wrestling on every Raw/SD! to doing nothing the next and it's not even his fault. He came close to breaking the glass ceiling and moving to the main event back i late 09 but they pulled the plug. Don't get me wrong he wasn't ready and I'm glad they halted it, but I think the guy deserves more than what he gets. I think he needs a heel turn and now would be the perfect time to do so. I also think a move to Smackdown is a must seeing as they kind of need the talent and he's not doing anything now. Have him come out, cut a bitter promo on Bourne saying he couldn't cut it as a partner and now it's all about Kofi and boom (no pun intended) you have a new character and things become more interesting.
Sheamus -
A few months ago I would've told you this guy was going to win the Rumble. Of course it's looking like they're giving the win to Y2J or Orton but I still think Sheamus is a dark horse in the match! This feud with Mahal is, let's be honest, shit, but then again it isn't so much a feud as it's a string of matches. I think he just needs to be thrown in a program, maybe a mid-card feud since it doesn't look like he's moving into the World Title picture anytime soon. Seeing as Rhodes isn't doing a whole hell of a lot, put him against Sheamus and let them feud over the IC strap, god knows the belt needs the prestige.
Jack Swagger -
It doesn't seem like he needs to be on this list but I feel like he needs some kind of a refresher. As I said in me previous blog, he has the in ring ability and can put on a great match with almost anyone. I just think he needs a character refresher or maybe new ring gear. He just seems so green, he has no attitude or edge and he's just generic heel #3242. I want to see some aggression, or MORE cockiness. Take what he has now and just turn the amp WAY up. Wrestlers these days need to learn how to play with their gimmick and make it into something worthwhile. Also I think he needs to ditch the singlet. I know he's trying to come off as a real wrestler but the singlet just screams green. Look at what an attire change did for Miz, he went from Joke to Champ in a matter of months. I know a lot of people might disagree with me but tell me he doesn't look greener than goose shit.
Primo/Epico -
First off, can't we get these guys a name? That's the ONLY thing that they lack as a team, and maybe a team finisher but that isn't AS necessary. I wouldn't mind seeing these guys get a promo or two in, giving them some sort of character other than two Puerto Ricans that can wrestle. Now that they're the champs, let them be more creative with the gimmick and take off with it. Imagine if Edge and Christian remained as silent Goths. We might have never seen them take off into successful singles careers. Another thing they need is competition but that's up to WWE to give it to them. I've never understood why WWE would not want to make their championships seem important but that’s an ENTIRELY different topic haha.
Alex Riley -
I'm not the biggest A-Ry fan. I didn't really hop on his bandwagon, and I don't like his theme as much as others do. HOWEVER, the guy has every tool needed to succeed in this business, and yet isn't doing a single thing right now. One month he's beating Miz, next he's on Superstars? Huh? So he had a DUI...Bourne got suspended and came back like nothing happened so how fair is it for A-Ry it get demoted to Superstars? I think he needs to take a move over to SD, again because they kind of lack strong talent and he could really benefit by having fresh opponents to face.
Future Endeavored -
Now I'm certainly not one to wish someone to lose their job, but there are some people that literally aren't doing anything and could benefit from leaving WWE to recharge their batteries, wrestle in other promotions, try out new characters, and come back with a new attitude. People I'm thinking of include JTG, Heath Slater, and maybe even Yoshi Tatsu. All people who upon entering WWE had a lot going for them but after a while all momentum was lost. I think these guys could benefit from taking a break. If not, then some repackaging is without a doubt necessary.
Back to Developmental -
There's some wrestlers already on the roster who are just still too green to be on the show. People that come to mind are the likes of Ezekiel Jackson, Jinder Mahal, and Hunico. I know he has a lot of fans but Hunico seems so generic and doesn't really have anything going on, so why not send him back until they find something for him? Same with the rest, Zeke hasn't done anything since dropping the IC title back in August, he was brought up way too early and I think he needs to go back to FCW or something before they think about giving him any sort of push. Also, I know he's kind of in a feud but I just don't like Jinder Mahal. I don't want to sound negative but these guys are all just incredibly green and need more time to develop. Maybe even added to the future endeavored list to learn more before coming back.
Giving the time to Shine -
Last but not least I'd like to touch upon people who I think need to be given more of an opportunity. Guys like the Usos, Hawkins/Reks, Trent Barreta, and Justin Gabriel. I know the teams in this list are still kind of green, or are missing an element, but they're entertaining and I think Hawkins/Reks are a great team, as are the Usos. Also Barreta is a boss in the ring, dude can go. Maybe he needs new ring gear but he's an entertaining wrestler and if he was just given a chance I think he can get crowds behind him. Same goes with Gabriel. The guy was getting a decent push last summer and they just neglected to do anything with it which is a shame. I wasn't huge on him at first but he's grown on me and he's another guy who's pretty entertaining and can put on a fun match. I think he needs to go heel again, he definitely worked better that way, but it'd be a little difficult without the rest of the Nexus/Corre.
Well folks that's my two cents on the matter. I know my opinions are going to differ from the rest of you but it's plain to see that WWE lacks in the whole character devlopment department. They aren't completely to blame, it is up to the wrestlers to get things over or create a character, but sometimes WWE likes to put people on the back burner for no reason. It takes time to develop a good character, not two weeks. But these are just my opinions so let me know, respectfully, what you think below! Until next time it's been real, it's been fun, but it hasn't been real fun. Deuces!
