Uncooked: Raw Afterthoughts The Good, The Bad, and The Indifferent

Rate this Entry
Another Raw has come and passed, and we are now one more step closer to the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania 28. I for one am excited. While I thought Elimination Chamber was decent, I know quite a few were unhappy/disappointed in it. I feel like this Raw has made up for that, as WWE kicks it into high gear on the last stretch to WM. Let's get into the review shall we?

The Bad

David Otunga vs Ezekial Jackson
Dud! Dud, dud, dud, dud, dud.....um...anyone else want to say that this was something other than a dud. I remember other members of the site talking about how diva's matches were a good time to go to the restroom, or grab a snack, well, as soon as I saw Big Zeke, I knew if I walked away I wouldn't be missing much, and guess what, I was right! There wasn't much to this match in my opinion. It was just a way for Johnny A to say he has ousted Teddy at this point. The match itself, .5/5. Yeah..that bad.

How to Fix
Any other opponent would have been a million times better. Kofi/Truth were pulling two match duty tonight, why couldn't Santino. He got a huge ovation last night(which I wasn't surprised by), but he also was shown to be a legit challenge for the people in the cell(which I was surprised by). He could have came out and made this a million times better. Or what about Drew. it would have fit perfectly with the, win or you're fire storyline. If he lost, it could leave people wondering if this is the last straw that broke the camels back, or if he won, it would have made for an interesting interaction between Teddy and Drew. Any other opponent than Big Zeke would have worked a million times better. Keep him away from WM!

Daniel Bryan vs Santino Marella
Really? Really? Wow..this match lasted a whole 1 to 2 minutes...dang. What, did creative have a meeting this past weekend? Creative 1-"Hey guys...you know lately we have made Bryan look kind of cowardice in getting out of defending his title" Creative 2-"Crap you are right..and now he is suppose to face Sheamus...maybe we should make him look more like a legitimate threat" Creative 1-"Oh i know! Let's have him win at the Chamber with a submission, and then squash another guy the next night with a submission!" Creative 3-"That is excellent! Who should we get to have him face?" Creative 2-"Oh! Oh! Oh! Brain storm! Santino Marella. He is so over, it'll make Daniel Bryan look amazing!" Rest of Creative-"We Love it!".........stupidest idea ever. I saw Bryan come out, and thought, "Oh, we might get a good match". Then I see Santino come out and I'm like "Oh, this could be dece...oh wait..it's over already?" OH BOO!!!!! They give Santino/Bryan the short end, to stick us with a crappy diva's match!?!?!?!?!?! Boo to you creative and Vince...boo to you! Sorry....just made me really mad seeing this occur. Anyways, lets continue.

How to fix
Give the match time! We were at the 10:25 minute mark when the match started. There is still the battle royal, and John Cena's promo. They could have easily taken 5 to 10 minutes to let Santino and Daniel Bryan put on a decent match that had people going. That is what they need to do. Their top stars going into Mania, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, John Cena, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, The Rock(if he wrestles), don't need squash matches. Give us a taste of what we can expect to see at Mania, by giving the top stars time to actually wrestle.

The Indifferent

Sheamus vs Mark Henry
It was nice to see they gave The Great White time on Raw, as we head into Mania. Smart move creative. They match itself was meh. Nothing bad, nothing great. It wasn't a total squash by Sheamus(which surprised me) but still as soon as the match started I and everyone else knew Sheamus would walk away with the win. Overall i would say 2/5 for the match, but good for Sheamus picking up the win.

How to improve
Throw us a curveball. Yeah I get you don't want your Great White to look weak going into Mania, but unless some monkey wrenches are thrown into the wheel of Sheamus, then when we get to Mania, everyone will know Sheamus is going to win. Have Bryan beat Sheamus once or twice as we head to Mania, to give us the uncertainty if he will win or not.

Kofi Kingston/R Truth vs Primo/Epico
Not a bad match i thought. It wasn't a super squash, There was back and forth action, somewhat. Though I find it funny that WWE is PG, and you had Rosa Mendes doing her little bump and grind on the side of the ring as Primo/Epico entered. Anyways, match quality was ok. Not horrible, but not good. Just ok. I think if given time, we could see a decent match between these 4. My guess though is, since Truth/Kofi picked up the win, sometime between now and Mania we will see them in a title match, and they will most likely pick up the titles.

How to improve
Give it time. Don't have another match next week where Kofi/Truth get a title shot and win, maybe have Kofi vs Primo and Truth vs Epico. Build up a mini feud as we go into mania. Have one side win(Kofi beats Primo), and the other side win(Epico beats Truth), then gives us the title match. Heck, maybe even throw in a curve ball like The Usos!

The Good

Taker/HHH segment
At first, I really wasn't feeling this. It just didn't draw me in like the HHH/HBK segment did last week. I kept watching, expecting HHH to finally accept the match...but boy was I thrown a curve ball. When HHH started going in to his final schpeel I was expecting him to say Last Man Standing or something...but wow..Hell In A Cell. I would love to see how people are going to complain about this now. To me, this is what is needed. That variable that is needed to take it to the next level. My hope is HBK is still involved in the form of special referee(dream would be making it a HHH vs HBK vs Taker triple threat), but either way this is going to be awesome!

CM Punk On Commentary...er...I mean Battle Royal
CM Punk on commentary was awesome!...wait wait..that doesn't do it justice...CM Punk on commentary was AWESOME!!!!!! Anyways, the Battle Royal was great to, imo. A great way to end the show. You had Barrett, who i think is legitmately injured, you had Kofi getting pushed off the top turnbuckle, and it looked like he tried catching his step and running down the steel steps only to crash, and Ziggler who looked like he sort of braced himself in hitting the announce table, but still bashed his face a little. Of course we all knew Jericho was going to win, but I thought it was interesting that Rhodes helped Jericho eliminate Big Show. Makes me wonder if we are going to get Rhodes vs Show at Mania instead of Shaq(which I'd prefer so much more).

Top 4 Memorable Moments(in no particular order)

1. CM Punk on Commentary(top moment of the night!!!)
2. Teddy Long ripping on David Otungas tie
3. Both of John Cenas promos
4. HHH announcing Hell In A Cell

I don't know why you prefer Shaq so much more. He's not a wrestler and history shows that these athletes who come in for a wrestling match, don't really do too well. Plus, the Big Show has done his fair share of jobbing out to celebs at Wrestlemania. Give him an actual match that matters. Shaq at Wrestlemania = Snooki at Wrestlemania last year.

    Overall decent blog.

Sorry DK, guess I worded that wrong haha. I meant, I'd prefer Cody vs Show over Show vs Shaq. I get WWE likes to have celebrities involved with Wrestlemania..but they don't need to face wrestlers, its pointless and a waste of talent
