Hey guys, constant reader-first time blogger here, so please be gentle! Or you could do what you usually do and point out every typo and grammatical error rather than comment on the topic!
Very brief background on where im coming from. Im nearing 30 and have got back into wrestling big time in the last year or so. Loved it when i was a child, right through the attitude era and then life got in the way. Stumbled across the rocks return and all the goosebumps came back. Now i love it more than ever!
Im not gonna deny that The Rock is my fav of all time, but ive tried looking at the whole situation objectively.
Whether you like him or not, The Rock is one of the greatest superstars of all time. Im not saying hes the best wrestler, but when you take everything into account, its undeniable hes a legend. Think of all the superstars/wrestlers that are generally considered some of the best- whether its Hogan, Flair, Savage, Andre, HBK, Bret, Austin or anyone else. Now ask yourself this-would you like them to return now, whilst they are still in top shape, still have everything that made them what they were and havent been slowed down by injuries????
The answer for any true wrestling fan will be YES, YES and HELL YES. This is what we have with the rock, hes here, not every week, but hes here, walking, talking, strutting exactly like he used to, so lets enjoy it. It may be for a month or it may be random appearances from wm onwards, but we shouldnt care. Im not a big Flair lover but damn, id like him back in the WWE in his prime. Imagine Flair in his prime, going against Punk for eg. We always talk on forums about dream matches and often wonder what it would be like with the leader of 2 different eras against each other in their prime so why moan about it when its happening.
Im not naive enough to think The Great One doesnt get great publicity out of 'being back' but some of you shouldnt be so naive to think that WWE doesnt get a hell of a lot more out of it! We know he doesnt need the money, we know he is a bona-fide film star, we know he wont be working a full schedule but we also know that whenever hes in town he brings more buzz than ANYONE on the roster.
Whether he wins or not at WM, it'll be a better show for one of the greats being there! So stop moaning and enjoy it whilst it lasts!
