The Splash: Just a Little Bit of Everything.

Welcome back Splashers. I have been reading a lot of news bits, over the past few days here on EWN, and it’s some of these issues that got my goat hairs all riled up. With that in mind, let’s get down to business!
On Beth Phoenix: When I read that Beth Phoenix will be finishing up with the WWE next month, I was shocked. I just couldn’t believe the WWE was ready to let one of their biggest Divas walk out the front door, and possibly over to TNA territory. I think IF Phoenix signed with TNA, she would fit in nicely with the Knockout roster. I would love to see her face other knockouts like: Tara, Brooke Tessmacher, and of course Mickie James.
Of course at the moment this is all wishful thinking, as it’s really not clear what her intentions are after she leaves the WWE. For all we know she could be content with the Indies, or even retire all together alongside her boyfriend Edge. Personally I hope the Glamazon chooses TNA.
On a side note, I read a read that Velvet Sky is no longer with TNA. She had not been on TV for some time, but she is still on the TNA Website as of this writing (which doesn’t mean much). I don’t think Sky would have the ring skills to beat Phoenix in the ring. However I could easily see their personalities work well, and form a tag team, if they ever paths ever crossed. Just a thought.
On Kelly Kelly Returning:
It’s not bad enough that the WWE is letting one of their more talented Divas walk out, but they are letting their most LEAST talented Divas back in FULL TIME! Who did K.K. sleep with to get her job back? The woman is terrible in the ring, she stinks on the mic, and her only finisher is a rollup pin! The only thing this woman is good for is being on the cover of male magazines and lying flat on her back..outside the ring!
On the 3-Hour RAW Format: I’m really trying to see the whole point of the extra hour of RAW each week. I have just noticed that they have more commercials/promos, more replays from earlier in the night/last week, 2 extra matches (3 if their real short), and 1 or 2 segments.
I get the fact, that WWE is getting paid more for the extra hour. So you would figure that the WWE would relax on the replays and promos, and focus more on the action. I understand they have to cut to commercials ever quarter hour. But for the 1st hour they don’t need to promote their DVD’s, Tout’s and other crap. Save that junk, for the 2nd and 3rd hour…which they do ANYWAY!
On Matt Morgan: There is word that The Blue Print has patched things up with TNA, and he will be resigning shortly. While I can understand his frustrations with the company, I don’t think that Morgan would have a much better career in the WWE. Would he have a bigger paycheck? It’s quite possible, but I don’t see him ever getting a World/WWE Title reign, which is what Morgan is clearly looking for.
If Morgan signed with the WWE they would have given him a great push in the beginning, then they would eventually job him out, like they are doing to Tensai. My personal hopes are that Morgan is one of the leaders of the Aces & 8’s group. It would be a perfect fit to his character, as he never officially left the TNA roster, and he could use his real frustrations, to channel the storyline. Only time will tell.
On Christian: For several months, there were reports that Christian was taken off WWE television, mainly because of the TNA/WWE deal that is currently going on. This deal was to basically allow Ric Flair (Who was under TNA contract at the time) to appear at last year’s annual Hall of Fame Ceremony. In return Christian would be allowed to appear at TNA first ever Hall of Fame Ceremony at this year’s Bound for Glory in October. Now reports are coming out, saying Christian had simply injured his shoulder, and the fact that he will be gone until after October, is just a mere coincidence.
I personally think Christian’s career has suffered since he has come back to the WWE. While he did get 2 World Title reigns, they were both short lived. Christian Cage, as he was known in TNA had a much stronger following. The only reason he came back, was because of his friend Edge, who retired only a year later.
On John Cena/nWo Concept: I read the article: Classic factions Reborn on wwe.com. There it asked what if Cena went heel, and reformed the classic nWo faction. While it’s no surprise the WWE will be releasing a nWo DVD in the next few months , I myself really would not want to see The Walking Billboard (Cena) as the new nWo leader.
I would be happier seeing the classic members for a reunion, just to promote the DVD, and then induct the faction into the Hall of Fame. Reforming old factions with all new members never work. You need some original members around. Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith reformed the Hart Foundation, in the form of Hart Dynasty, and we know where that went.
Furthermore, if Cena was to turn heel I think the last thing he should do, is to join a popular faction like the nWo. I think the best way he would get over is for him to get over as a heel, is to simply, shut off all the flashy lights and hip-hop music, and stop wearing all the sellable merchandise. Almost like the angry Batista persona, before he left the WWE. I’m not much for rehashing gimmicks or storylines, but in this case, I think Cena could make it work well if they went with it.
Well I think that will do it for this edition. As always feel free to post you comments (even you haters) and I’ll do my best to respond. Until next time…See you when I see you –Rick Starr
