Ricky Starks’ fiery promo won the hearts of millions last week as The Absolute buried MJF on the microphone after the AEW World Champion referred to him as “dollar store Dwayne” and accused him of stealing The Great One’s gimmick.
While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Starks revealed Tony Khan’s reaction to his promo battle with MJF on the December 7th edition of Dynamite. He said,
“Yeah, he was very happy with it of course. Honestly, I walked [backstage] and I was like ‘Yeah, that was cool.’ Tony was like ‘Thank you so much, thank you so much Ricky that was great, that was a home run.’ It’s cool that he enjoyed it and approved of it.”
This week on AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming, Starks went one-on-one with MJF in a Winner Takes All main event bout. Despite a valiant effort, Starks failed to dethrone the AEW World Champion — not only did MJF manage to retain his title, but he also recaptured the Dynamite Diamond Ring from The Absolute.
