Yeah, me too. So many other great games have borrowed from Aliens that it only makes sense that there would be a great Aliens game to mine directly from the film franchise. How they went and fucked this up to the degree that they supposedly did is way beyond me. (On the upside, the $60 I'm saving this week will allow me to get both Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Crysis 3 next week.)

Randy Pitchford has spent months selling the hell out of this game, though, so I'll be interested to hear the spin he puts on the reception. I've got my waders already on in anticipation.

Rented Aliens from a Redbox. I can say firsthand that this game is terrible.

Yeah, I'm hearing that it might be the worst major retail release we'll see all year.

That's pretty impressive for a February release.

It is hugely disappointing, I've been waiting for a game like this since the movie was originally released. So considering the time frame you would have imagined we could have had at least one good spin off from it in this vein.

Oh well as you say MGS is on the horizon so the funds will be put to good use.

Have you played any of the Dead Space games? They're slathered in Aliens influence, and they're really damn good.

I don't know if you're much into handheld stuff, but this is probably the best we'll get for the foreseeable future:

Really solid little game in the vein of Super Metroid that actually does the franchise some justice.

I'm not any more, outside of the original Gameboy and Game Gear I haven't owned another hand held since. I've had a few plays on the DS but that side of my interest is pretty much non existent.

I have Aliens v Predator for PS3, mainly because I picked it up for £2.99. That price is about the level of what it's worth. :D
