Abyss being gone isn't the actually problem, it's what he has turned into that is. I understand that he can't always have amazing brawls with OMG moments but you dont have to ruin his character like they have, Begging hulk hogan to have a match after he has just finished two months of training.
For what Abyss has done to entertain the crowds over the years he deserves more.
I thought it was a commonly held view on here that he was going to be aligned with the Aces and Eights? And that he's just playing stupid with Hogan?
my guess take it for what you will, Joseph parks and abyss are the same Character, they are going to ignore the intro of parks and have them be the same person, when he sees his own blood he becomes abyss... either way I'm patiently waiting because i think parks is at least not a typical character for a wrestling show and kind of funny in a kid brother way
I will say Abyss is far from anything like Kane or Mankind....... To many differences in persona, and very different character.... and different characters involved......
But as much as they are different they are also the same..... Yeah Abyss is like Kane or Mankind because of the mask, or Mankind cause of his hardcore style of wrestling..... Much like Foley, Abyss is one that spills lots of blood..... big thing is there will always be wrestlers who have similar personas of sorts as past wrestlers...
I couldn't help but to think of the similarities. Sorry.
I think he's really talented though and can make anything work. Love his matches. I think anyone really believing that he is ruined is on the brink of possibly overreacting drama queen status. Cause he's not. Be patient.
But I do understand that most of wrestling and characters have been done before. Like I always said "Wrestling is copyright infringement."
they backed him into a corner from dragging this out, it my take a long time for Abyss to return
This is the best thing anyone could have said. Abyss is awesome. Joey Park showed that Abyss can not only talk, but be entertaining without the mask. Are they ruining Abyss? Not in the least. Abyss has always been pushed as a monster that "isn't right in the head", correct? He was put in the insane asylum for being such a psychopath. Abyss, by the character presented from the first time I saw him on TNA, has and always will be a nut job. Now imagine the nut job having more depth than just speaking parables from the Art of War. Imagine him being in a state of full out delusions. After his final monsters ball, he snapped and lost all of who he was. He invented his alter-ego in Joseph and is now taking it to the tenth degree. He not only has himself convinced, but manages to convince the others in the locker room that he is indeed, his brother (that never existed). Abyss is now a skitzo and once the revelation comes to pass, he snaps back with the two characters battling internally (which is what we see when Joey catches a glimpse of his own blood).
The problem isn't that Abyss is stuck in a shitty character. The problem is the level of in-depth thinking required for this angle to be a success. It's not something that you can be fed with a spoon and just swallow; this type of character development requires you to chew on some meat so ween yourself off the milk, boys. The payoff will come and being patient enough to simply follow the career (and mental) path of the individual without accusing the talent of "being wasted" will help you to appreciate just how crazy the TNA fans will be when Abyss shows back up. We all marked (at least in the arena) when Abyss showed up at SlammyX and if they keep the suspense and build up for an Abyss return, those who have been fans with TNA for the past several years will jump out of their seat; those who are just now becoming fans will ponder as to who this "unique" character is.
