My thoughts on the RR PPV:
Predictable outcomes - Wish I did the prediction thread as I called every match 100% correct
The actual quality of matches were decent, entertaining with some great spots
I'm not a huge ADR or Big Show fan but a very solid opener with great spots
Tag Team match was good, love all four guys, great chemistry
Royal Rumble match was good, bar the choice of winner!
Great surprise to see Jericho, I marked out
Also marked out for Goldust and Godfather, shame Godfather only lasted a second
Another great spot from Kofi
Good comedy from Santino. Also from Bryan and Kane, that was a funny spot
Cena wins...yay? Rather him win over Ryback I guess
Rock v Punk was a very solid back and fourth match
Genuinely thought Punk got away with it
I'm a Punk mark, I accept he had to lose the title, and don't have a problem with it being the Rock, but a 434 day title reign ending to an elbow drop? REALLY?!?! REALLY!?!?!?
Good PPV, good matches, just not over keen on the actually winners. Well done to all performers
You so nailed it here!
I soooo get it is a business and the guys are about "the business" and making money and sure there are many who like what they saw and will see at WM but man it just feels like "hey lets make as much money as we can right now because who knows how long this will last!" Is that really planning for the future of the company? Smells too much like the last days of WCW to me...ok they are not that bad off yet and to the professionals (ego agside perhaps) they want to do what makes sense in a "business" standpoint but considering how long Rock and Cena have been around through it all they cannot, honest with themsevles, think this makes more logical sense other than in a "let's make money!" way...
Ok this is just my opinion and mindset but even as a "I want to do what is best for the business" kind of way I just cannot shake the feeling that this whole thing is not settled yet with the players on the chess board...they all have major ego clashes and politics to some degree but i feel punk was offered something more, better maybe here to just lose like this? Lets face it he is not shy about voicing his opions and what I think is there will be Punk vs. Taker WM match where we will see Punk possibly end the streak...no he may not need it and still may interhect himself somewhere yet in the title picture with his rematch or whatever but who else would remotely be interesting as Taker's rival here?
I am seriously starting to wonder also if a Cena heel turn could be accomplished any more to a degree that would help his character? I like the guy personally and think he is smart and a true superstar of the game but please I am just so tired of seing the same...the same...the same....I cannot think of one match win or lose that I would care to see him in? Similarly there is only so much any character can try and accomplish before they seem equally as stale and boring...maybe not so to everyone as many feel differently (we all have our opinons) but sorry the thrill is gone for folks like Big Show, Cena and Mysterio...how many times has it been said the fed needs to build new stars now for tomorrow?? Sigh...
The Rock was gone for 8 year. FACT. Anyone who does not work 365 days a year does not deserve to win the most prestigious title in the company. As far as I'm concerned, wrestling died last night.
Its still real to you, damn it! ;)
As stated, Punk mark, disappointed he lost it to the Rock, especially ending his epic 434 day reign with a elbow drop, but thems the breaks. Rocks the champ, a lot of people are happy about it. A lot of fans will come back to it who watched it back in the day. It makes good business sense. Live with it
I agree but are you really surprised at the company in question for allowing that to happen?
Yup, screw the other workers that have sacrificed and devoted themselves to the industry and the company year around for someone whose devotion is mainly to their Hollywoord career. Its all just buisness
I'm not a "Punk Mark", I'm a life long Punk fan. I understand at some point he had to drop the title, but really you think it'll help rating to have The Rock as the champ? Have ratings not been at an all time low since he came back and left and came back and left? WWE creative effectively proved that they are only here to insult our intelligence as viewers, and drain us of our hard earned money. Thanks to the brilliant minds in the 'E, I'm now not able to pay to go see the one live event i can afford a year.
The best part was easily the guy dressed as Goldust LOSING HIS MIND when Goldust came out.
