The Raid is indeed awesome. Still probably my favorite flick of 2012 (thus far).

I actually visited with my 60 year old mom last week and made her watch it. To my complete surprise, she fucking loved it.

The director wanted to make the most violent action scenes and damn it was awesome

To be fair, the prequels are spectacularly shitty. They even somehow retroactively taint the other flicks with said shittiness. Except for Empire, because that movie is forever tits.
