It sounds like they really messed up the Punisher character. I think the simplicity of his original character was the main appeal. It really makes no sense when they try and reinvent the wheel with a classic.

To be honest, I think the Punisher would make a great TV show, somewhere along the lines of Sons of Anarchy on FX. And I'm willing to bet you would whip Thomas Jane back into shape since he played Castle so well in the 2004 movie.
I've always thought a TV series focusing on the X-Men would be brilliant... So much history to draw from, much like Smallville had with Superman.
But, I'd settle for a Punisher series, or any Marvel/DC character for that matter.
@Siaki. I loved the whole thing, but the fights (especially Wolverine Vs Lobo) could have done with more depth. The Amalgamation was a pretty cool idea though, and the Access mini series was a nice follow up.
When I look at translating a comic character into TV I would always favor characters that are not too campy for translation. As much as us comic fans like it the main stream audiances do not accept things that are to incredible. I think some things in the superhero world are best left for comic books and animation. That being said, I have always felt Daredevil would translate well into a TV show.
Speaking about comics transitioning to tv, they said Heroes For Hire (Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight, etc) are getting a live action tv series on MTV.. I dunno if its still in effect but I remember reading about it on my Marvel Facebook status updates maybe like a month back.. Also a Punisher and Daredevil series would seem real do-able, I dunno if I can see another Hulk show just due to the computer graphics they have to do would be more tedious for each show.. No matter I would give any Marvel tv show a chance, because I like to support my favorite companies (even some of the bad decisions i.e. most marvel movies lol)..
Not sure yet, but I can always research it and see what comes up.. All I recall at the moment is reading a status update about it but never researched it.. I do remember that they said Heroes 4 Hire would be the best candidate for an MTV live action series, because its cheaper to do a show with actors that have believable powers without the razzle dazzle of an expensive computer graphics company doing the majority of the show..
