Off the top of my head:

    - First party Nintendo titles (which is always the best reason to own a Nintendo console) but now in HD
    - The same multi-plat games from the other systems but with new controller functionality
    - Being able to play console games on the controller so your television can be freed up for others
    - The controller works as a universal remote for your console, cable set-up, and television
    - Asymmetrical gameplay (where the GamePad is used in congruence with Wiimotes)
    - The controller can display map and inventory information, theoretically reducing the need for constant pausing

The overall critical consensus usually seems to paint a more accurate picture.
Gamespot's the site I happen to frequent. The critics sure seem to be all over the place for ZombiU(http://www.metacritic.com/game/wii-u...critic-reviews), and user review scores on MetaCritic are usually 1s or 10s with very little in between so I put little stock in people's opinions there. It's tough to take anyone at face value when something like this happens, where people aren't in general consensus.

I've got off work tomorrow and plan on digging into the game pretty hard. I can throw some impressions your way, if it will help.

That's cool. Don't hurt yourself with it, it's not like I'm on the fence for a purchase or something... it's just general curiosity.

    Yeah, totally.

So far I've only gotten into New Super Mario Bros. U, Black Ops 2, and Scribblenauts Unlimited, and, surprisingly, Scribblenauts is actually the one I keep going back to. NSMBU is definitely the best of the new Super Mario series, and Black Ops 2 looks and plays just as good as it does on PS3 and 360 (there's a certain delight to be had playing a beefy console game like that in bed while waking up in the a.m.), but I genuinely find Scribblenauts to be the unsung launch gem. There's just something about the design that's as charming as it is compelling. It also helps that it seems to finally realize the potential that's been there since the first game on the DS.

Scribblenauts Unlimited's coming out tomorrow on Steam. I might give that a go if it turns out to be good. The rest of the year and even early 2013 is looking like a yawn for PC, at least according to Steam... but I just learned that Planetside 2 is free to play and comes out tomorrow too. Might also give that a go.

And Planetside 2 is total fuckpoop, just like every other free to play game ever made.

Just figured out that Darksiders 2 can be played entirely on the Wii U GamePad. I'm about to go curl up in bed and start fucking some shit up.

I got Darksiders and Darksiders 2 yesterday via the big Steam November sale. Both for just under $30 isn't bad at all. I can't help but feel like Darksiders is what Diablo 3 should've been in terms of camera angle and combat style... I think the isometric viewpoint just doesn't belong in 2012. Meh, random musings I get while I play stuff. Not a bad game if you like games in the style of Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Bujingai, etc... which I do. It's almost exactly the same in terms of the overall formula.

I look at the Darksiders games as Zelda for the God of War crowd, but I can certainly see some sprinkles of those other titles in there, too.

I'm only an hour in, but I'm loving 2 so far. The game is, like, 4 times bigger than the first, and I can already see some considerable depth opening up with the addition of loot. Can't wait to get my family the hell out of my house so I can clean up from dinner and then dig back into it.
