I just don't really see how RVD is of very much value anymore. Of course, he still has a popular name and can help WWE's incredibly shallow roster.. but he is getting older. He's slower now and TNA really killed this guy. They brought him in, put the title on him, and then terribly misused him to the point where he pretty much became a lower midcard guy. It kinda killed the excitement surrounding him. I think RVD can be a very valuable asset to the Smackdown roster, especially with Orton injured (though RVD may not be in WWE until Orton is already back).. Without Orton, the top faces on the SD roster are Big Show and Sheamus, since Daniel Bryan is turning heel. Big Show and Sheamus being the top faces is SCARY. So RVD would come in handy over on SD playing a top face.
I think it's kinda unfair to put all the blame on TNA. When he came in,he had this attitude that he was gonna reinvent the wrestling world and take TNA to the top. He acted like his "name recognition" would gain TNA alot of fans and support, it didn't. The biggest disgrace of the Hogan-Bischoff regime was how they made Styles drop the title to Van Dam,knowing full well his contract called for limited dates and that he wasn't going to be a full-time guy. Sure he had an ok feud with Abyss. But he was a guy who was in the main event up until a few months ago. He had matches with Sting and Anderson for most of 2010-2011 and only recently began a program with Daniels. Considering they whored the title out to him right after his debut(even Hardy and Anderson had to wait a while) AND he beat Sting in like 2 mins. in his TNA debut. I think if anything he horribly misused TNA. They gave him the lighter schedule, main event recognition and the immediate title reign, but all throughout his time there he never said anything good about the company. He continued to maintain his superior attitude and dismissed the entire roster as being inferior to him in ability and recognition, and this guy's been working as a FACE!
I'm glad TNA realized RVD has nothing to offer and they're using him to look others look good, I wish atleast Daniels got a clean pin on him once though, that would be sweet after all the shit RVDs said about him. They should have just hired him for the ECW revival they had and that's it. Considering everything, they fact that they kept him around and are only fazing out his importance is alot more than he deserves. I don't think they misused him at all, hell he could've ended up like the Pope or Samoa Joe.
