WWF/WCW 1996 - The Merger

OOC - Very happy to see and Booker thread here, looks like things are slow here but hopefully things will get moving and more threads will pop up. Here is the backstory to my BTB.

The year is 1996. It is the first day of April and one night removed from one of the best Wrestlemania's ever and one of the greatest matches ever to take place in a wrestling ring, that being Shawn Micahels defeating Bret Hart for the WWF Championship in a one hour iron man match. Many wrestling fans expected to tune into WCW Nitro and see Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage to continue their war with Ric Flair and Kevin Sullivan and his hench men and then one hour later change the channel to USA and see the aftermath of Wrestlemania 12. However everyone was in for A bigger night then anybody could imagine as April 1st, 1996 will always be remember as the day Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation merged with Ted Turner and World Championship Wrestling. Very little information was leaked to the public as this was before wrestling spoliers on the internet.

Monday April 1st, 1996 -
WCW Nitro begins with no intro and just Ted Turner sitting at A desk explaining the merger between the WWF and WCW. He says WCW Nitro is going nowhere and will still air on TNT at 8pm on Monday Nights then will be followed by WWF Monday Night RAW at 9pm on USA as always. Turner says Vince McMahon will have more information on RAW and this weeks edition of Nitro will be a recap of the best matches in the short history of Nitro as they work out the final details of the merger.

WWF RAW also begins with no intro but just Vince McMahon standing infront of a black backdrop. He reveals he is the real owner of the WWF for those who did not know. Vince says how WCW will still produce and have full control of Nitro and present ppv's throughout the year as WWF will do the same for RAW and thier ppvs, however now on occasions WWF stars could be invited on Nitro and WCW stars could do vice versa by request or by invitation to make some of those dream matches you never thought possible happen. Vince says more information will be revealed later this week and this weeks RAW will also be a special best of RAW show.

The wrestling world is shocked by this announcement and still not totally clear what is happening. Many questions are still to be answered as the entire wrestling world waits on.

First off thanks for the feedback jwt15 & AGEOFFALL, it's really appreciated and hope you continue to follow.

WWF/WCW Merger Guidelines

-WWF and WCW will still have complete control of their respective shows and pay per view events, however WWF superstars will now be able to appear on WCW programming and WCW talent can appear on WWF programming.

- Rosters and championship's will still be kept seperate and talent will be still known as A WWF or WCW superstar, titles will be refered to as either a WWF or WCW title.

-Talent may only appear on another promotions program by request or by invitation and then must be approved by the higher ups. Any uninvited talent will be escorted out of the building right away, refusal to leave may lead to police involvement.

-Championships may only be defended on it's promotions program. So the WWF Championship, Intercontinental Championship, and the WWF Tag Team Championships may only be defended on WWF programming, and same go's for all WCW titles, they may only change hands on WCW programiming, on some very rare occasions will this rule be ignored.

-Championships however can be defended against anyone from any promotion. This mean's that any WWF star can challenge and win any WCW championship and any WCW star can become A WWF Champion. However this must be done on the title's promotions program as stated before.
