I guess that's why The Rock sells out stadiums, arenas, generates mainstream press, and increases TV and PPV ratings. In essence, makes the WWE a lot of money.

Like the Rock tweeted: it amazes how many of today's wrestlers don't understand the industry

Here is what you don't understand. How many guys that are The Rock's size that can actually put on a technical wrestling match at the level of a Bret Hart?

The Rock doesn't need to use technical wrestling skills because the guys he matches up with aren't technical wrestlers. If there were more technical wrestlers in The Rock's league, there is no doubt The Rock can put on a technical wrestling match on the level of a Bret Hart.

The technical wrestling realm belongs to the smaller guys. It always has and it always will.

What guys like The Rock, Austin, and Hogan have are the special ability to build up a feud and hype it beyond belief to sell out stadiums and make millions on TV ratings and PPV buyrates. The only guy in the PG era that comes close to this is John Cena.

Don't even say CM Punk. Punk lacks that physical presence and charisma to hype a feud to a level like Rock vs Cena, or Rock vs Hogan, or Rock vs Austin.

BTW, Jericho owned Punk tonight at WM28 ... in terms of technical wrestling.
Whatever. The Rock didn't sell out Wrestlemania by himself and to say so is naive. I understand about how the pro wrestling industry works, after all I've been a fan for going on 59 years. I just don't like anything about Rock, that's all. There are a lot of big guy wrestlers who have technical skills such as; HHH, Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio, Sting, etc... and the Punk/Jericho match way outclassed the Rock/Cena match by far IMO. Of course the HHH/Undertaker w HBK as special ref in HIAC match stole the show at WM 28. After that match every match aside from Punk/Jericho looked really cheesy IMO.

Bolded = fact. No IMO about it.

Rock and Cena turned out to be a good decent match and better then I expected but I seriously wanted to watch Suns vs Hornets when they took like 30 mins with Florida trying to sing...

Still. Y2J vs Punk and the streak match were easily the best 2 matches as I semi expected.

Just glad this Rocky/Cena bullshit is over. Hopefully Steve Austin vs Punk happens next year and a better build-up then 2 people having little digs at each other and use Twitter as a weapon.

Now I can go back to disliking Cena again!

hogan vs rock vs warior vs cena?

is it just me or the match cena vs rock did not surpass either hogan vs rock or hogan vs warrior as far as crowd involvement. any thoughts on this?..tbh i enjoy it but not as much as i did hogan rock and warrior hogan

Well Cena/Rock did try to recapture the Hogan/Rock moment when the crowd was chanting both of their names while looking side to side.....but it was an epic fail. Cena's facial expression was classic when he looked back at rock afterwards. He had the "damn, this isn't working" smirk on his face.

As far as crowd involvement goes...Hogan/Warrior will always come out on top imo. The crowd was completely split and invested in their chosen superstar. Both wrestlers were in their prime and HUGE babyfaces. It was also the first of many in the WWE. First time two babyfaces challenged each other. First time it was champion vs champion. First time a PPV was held outside of the USA. First time there was doubt if hogan will win. It had the 2nd best build up to a match. 2nd only to WCW's year long build up to Sting vs Hogan...which was just plain epic!

Cena vs Rock was good, but with all the hype thrown behind the match....it fell short in my opinion. This all my opinion, but than again I am bias towards the golden era (yes I found it much more entertaining than the attitude era). It had more charismatic wrestlers, better storylines, better build up towards feuds (4 PPVs a year meant 3 months between to build up a great feud instead of throwing something together 2 weeks before a ppv), and the wrestlers actually performed with a little more passion.

HHH/Taker, Punk/Jericho, Kane/Orton matches were better than Rock/Cena. However I did watch the match and even though I do not like the Rock, nor am I partial to Cena, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
