I first played this game back in 02 when I moved in with my step-mother and family. This game created a bond between me and my step-brother. He was the athletically gifted football/rugby/running all-star, and I was the fat nerd who made websites and ate Chinese 6 days a week.
I’d rarely watched football prior to this, but this game and my discovery of Edgar Davids resulted in my current love for football. My knowledge of the game has since become vast, and without bragging, I often know more than most people about the ‘little’ players in all the odd leagues and teams – and this game is why. If it wasn’t for this game, I would likely never have gotten on with my brother as well as I do, and certainly, I wouldn’t have discovered the beautiful game.
Anyway, enough about me, here’s the deal:

This is the address of the forums who make the effort to keep the game up to date – you MUST sign up in order to do the downloads.
Make sure you follow this in order so to minimise the likelihood of errors – if you screw it up, uninstall, manually remove the remaining files and start again – I’ve been updating and using editors on this game for a good 2-3 years now and I still screw it up, so it’s possible. If in the event you update later on and fuck it up and the game starts making error messages, locate your save file and remove it safely from the folder, and delete the remaining files, then simply replace it once reinstalled.
Another tip before going ahead, is wherever possible, make files administrators/have full permissions, otherwise it can sometimes stop updates etc. from working correctly. This includes CM 01/02 itself – I run mine in compatibility for Windows XP SP3 – This can differ if you want to do network/online games, but that’s something you’ll have to look up yourself.
Any files you CANNOT download (if it’s on Megaupload etc.) then let me know, if I can’t find an alternate link, I’ll upload it to a fileshare site.
THE GAME

This link contains the game itself. You need to mount the ISO file to disk or alternatively, you can download daemon tools lite for free from http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite – which allows you to make a ‘virtual’ drive on your computer, and basically tricks your PC into thinking there is a disk in there – Mine is permanently mounted for ease.
If you’re still struggling, visit the following: http://31.222.136.27/showthread.php?...M-without-disk
You MUST apply the following update in order to apply further updates; otherwise, it will NOT work.

This is the official SI game patch, run as admin and follow the wizard.
UPDATES
This is the March 2012 update: http://www.champman0102.co.uk/downlo...?do=file&id=46
Feel free to browse, there are many more, older and such. You can also add playable leagues if you look around on the forum, but it will take a bit of effort on your part.
Follow the instructions on the page carefully, and issues, take a quick look on the forums if there are any issues, but if need be, feel free to ask and I’ll try to help where I can.
Once you have updated, I advise applying the Tapani Patch. Tapani is some super-brainy bastard who figured out how to edit tonnes of cool stuff, including attribute colours (which isn’t part of the game) and the ability to update the season, game speed, and remove unprotected contracts.
http://www.champman0102.co.uk/downlo...p?do=file&id=1
PLEASE BEAR IN MIND, YOU MUST NOT UPDATE THE STARTING YEAR PAST 2010, IT WILL CRASH YOUR GAME. The game can play as normally past this, but the start date cannot be set to later than 2010. If you want to start in 2011, you can start half-way through the 2010/11 season of the EPL for example, by selecting the US when starting a new game, then clicking “USA 2011” as the start date. This will generate the season so far- which can be fun if you want to take a gamble – you might find Man City in 19th with tonnes of money, and your target will be a respectable league position!
I use the game speed as x2 – I find x4 and above FAR too quick for match speeds.
Remember that this game is 10 years old, so the Transfer windows differ (are longer for a start) which I personally prefer, but on the flipside, it’s annoying being in Europe, for one reason: Non-EU player limits. There is a limit of 4 non-EU players per match day squad, which as you can imagine, makes playing as teams dominated by African such as Chelsea, very diffiult, but fear not, there is a solution: http://www.champman0102.co.uk/downlo...?do=file&id=24
This tool installs (remember, once installed to run as Admin), and allows you to select the Nation file of your game, you can then make ALL nations in the world EU, which allows you to freely sign players without the requirement for Work permits and restrictions on non-EU talent. Go ahead, Sign the whole of Brazil if you like!
PERFORMANCE.
Requirements are:
Pentium 133 or better, 16MB RAM, 4x speed CD-ROM drive, DirectX 7, Windows 95
I don't know about MAC, so not worth asking, but I'm sure it works if you look around on the forums.
I usually run 9 Nations with no issues on 4gb of RAM, but I can run all of them, again, suffering no issues, so take that how you wish. If your PC is slow, i'd advise sticking to no more than 4.
Also, particularly with newer versions of Windows (Vista/7) I know of some freezing issues due to compatibility. This will happen maybe once in every 5 hours from my experience, the solution is to set the game settings to auto-save bi-weekly, so if it crashes, you can reboot and may have only lost a game or two's progress. You can set this to a maximum of weekly, or switch it off. The auto-save takes seconds, and is worth waiting for to ensure you don't lose vital progress!
When starting a game, the screen may go black, this is normal. When the cursor is over the screen, it will be a 'football' - Just wait patiently, as clicking will usually freeze the game. It only takes 30 seconds or so to load up.
I would also advise looking under the settings and changing them to 'Maxium Database', this usually improves the game experience due to the largely unknown players in some of the smaller leagues and teams, some of which can become amazing.
That’s all for what I’d recommend to start, how much you want to add and update is up to you – have a look around the downloads section for more, such as ways to edit Prize Funds for competitions, how to customise the game interface, how to install custom backgrounds for the game. You can even add more ‘pundit’ comments to update the Press and update the match commentary. You can download some custom tactics (Pro-tip, FIND TAPANI 4-4-2 AS2 TACTIC - It’s amazing), and loads more.
Remember, any help you need, just ask. I’ll do what I can, but remember to follow these instructions carefully, but most importantly of all, enjoy the game that ruined my life!
NOTE: I am not liable for anything you manage to fuck up. I have used all the downloads specified, and there are to my knowledge No Viruses, and I’d be confident in saying they are completely clean (given thousands of people have never reported any issues). Use at your own risk!
