JR: How did Aries get his foot on the rope? He got his foot on the rope after taking a Codebreaker from Jericho

Bischoff: Jericho didn’t get all of that Codebreaker, but he still feels as though he should have had him, he is not happy.

Jericho gets up and argues with the ref telling him he needs to count faster, as Jericho looks frustrated that the Codebreaker didn’t put Aries down. Jericho in a fit of rage goes over and kicks Aries hard in the ribs, and Aries rolls out to the apron. Jericho then kicks the ropes and complains to the ref once more. Aries begins to get up on the apron, and Jericho hops off the ropes and nails Aries with a springboard dropkick, and it sends Aries flying into the announcer’s table where Aries hits his head.

JR: What a brutal hit on the announce table. Aries head just bounced off our table right here in front of us, off that springboard dropkick

Jericho waits for Aries to get up, and as he does, Jericho springboards off the ropes and hits Aries with a plancha to lay him out. Jericho lifts his arm in the air to celebrate, then picks Aries up and rolls him into the ring. Jericho follows in and covers…

Aries kicks out at two and Jericho is upset as it seems Aries is getting stronger. Jericho waits for Aries to get up, and once Aries does Jericho hits repeated chops to Aries’ chest. This backs Aries into the ropes where Jericho then whips Aries into the opposite set of ropes, bends down for a back bodydrop, and Aries kicks Jericho in the shoulder. Jericho stands up and comes back with a punch to the head of Aries. Aries comes back and hits a punch of his own, and they begin to trade blows, and the crowd chants along

Aries gains control and comes off the ropes with a hurrincanrana, and this sends Jericho sliding across the ring, and Jericho then rolls to the outside as he looks frustrated. Aries looks on from in the ring, as Jericho bends down next to the barricade to catch his thoughts. Aries then runs off the ropes

Bischoff: Heat Seeking Missile! Jericho’s hit the barricade hard.

Aries jumped and hit the Heat Seeking Missile and Jericho crashed into the barricade. Aries gets up celebrates, and rolls Jericho into the ring. Aries hops up on the apron, and hits Jericho with a slingshot corkscrew splash, cover…

Th… Jericho kicks out!

Bischoff: Boy that was close.

JR: And Jericho avoids losing his title for now. Austin Aries is in full control!

Aries picks Jericho up and puts Jericho’s arm around the back of his head. He grabs Jericho’s ankle and goes for the shinbreaker leg hook saito suplex, but when Aries flips Jericho over, Jericho lands on his feet, and pushes Aries from the back into the turnbuckle. Aries stumbles back into Jericho, who hits Aries with a belly to back suplex. Jericho runs off the ropes and hits a running senton, and Jericho then locks in an armbar. Jericho keeps the armbar locked in, and Aries battles to his feet. Aries hits a couple punches to the head, and then whips Jericho into the ropes. Jericho comes back looking for a clothesline, but Aries ducks, and hits Jericho with a crucifix driver. Aries then swings his arms back and forth and hits Jericho with a powerdrive elbow. Aries then locks in Jericho with a scissored armbar.

JR: And look at this, Aries puts Jericho in his own specialty hold, an armbar. Can he get out?

Bischoff: Of course he can, Jericho is the man of 1,004 holds and he knows every counter. And look at this, Jericho has reversed it into a pin!

Aries releases the hold and breaks the pin. Jericho rolls over and grabs a hold of the second rope, and leans against it. Aries notices, bounces off the ropes for the macho neck snap, but Jericho moves and Aries slips through the ropes and hits the floor on the outside. Jericho steps out on the apron, he waits for Aries to get up, and as he does, Jericho hits a diving European uppercut. Jericho picks Aries up and hits him with a northern lights suplex on the outside floor, and Jericho then picks up Aries and rolls him in the ring. Jericho runs and bounces off the ropes…

Bischoff: Lionsault

JR: No Aries got the knees up!

Jericho went for the Lionsault and Aries gets the knees up, and Jericho bounces off the knees up and stumbles into the turnbuckle. Aries gets up runs at Jericho for the IED, but Jericho moves early, and Aries can’t stop himself and he hits the turnbuckle chest first. Jericho bounces off the ropes and hits Aries with a bulldog, and Jericho gets up, shuffles his feet, and bounces off the ropes…

Bischoff: There it is Lionsault!

JR: And he’s hooked the leg

Bischoff: Jericho needs to stay on top of Aries if he wants to maintain control and hope to retain

JR: And that’s just what he is doing… Jericho has the Walls of Jericho locked in!

Jericho has the walls locked in tight and Aries is squirming trying to get out. Aries slowly begins to crawl towards the ropes, and Aries needs one last lunge to get their…

JR: Can Aries reach the ropes? He is one last lunge away from reaching it. Aries is reaching… he’s almost got it…he’s

Bischoff: No Jericho right at the last second was able to stand up and pull him into the middle of the ring. Jericho has the hold locked in tighter than before. Aries is going to need to come up with a counter, I don’t think he will be able to crawl; He’s going to have to tap

Aries is screaming in pain as he uses his arms to pick himself up off the ground to alleviate some of the pain. Aries keeps himself up off the ground, but collapses from the pressure. Aries is holding his hand above the mat and Aries is going to tap.

Bischoff: Aries is going to tap, he is that close, a little more pressure and this is over

Jericho senses it and strengthens his hold to his max by arching backwards to make Aries tap. Aries screams out in pain and out of sheer protection, Aries lifts himself off the ground with his arms. Aries bumps heads with Jericho, and Aries realizes he may have a way out. Aries reaches back with his arms and grabs the hair of Jericho

Bischoff: He’s got the hair of Jericho, he can’t do that ref get him to release the hold

The ref counts for Aries to release the hold, and Aries is able to readjust his hold as Jericho loosens his grip because Aries has his hair. Aries is able to grab a hold of Jericho’s head from under his chin, and Jericho releases the walls.

JR: What a counter! What a counter!

Bischoff: And Aries now has the Horns of Aries locked in!

After Jericho released the hold, Aries positioned himself into the Horns of Aries, and now Aries has it locked in tightly.

JR: Now would be the time for the man of 1,004 holds to comes up with a counter for one of those holds, he is in trouble. If he can’t find a counter we are going to have a new WWE Champion

Bischoff: I don’t know if he is going to be able to, he is starting to fade

Aries has the hold tightly locked in, and Jericho is fading. The ref then goes over to check on Jericho, and he is out, not moving. The ref lifts Jericho’s arm, and it falls. The ref lifts the arm a second time, and Jericho’s arm falls again. The ref then lifts Jericho’s arm for a third time, the ref lets Jericho’s arm go and…

JR: IT FELL! His arm fell he’s out! He’s out! We have a new WWE Cham-

Bischoff: NO! NO! It’s not over; the ref is waving it off. Jericho was able to keep his arm from hitting the mat!

JR: By god how did he do it?

The fans are cheering in excitement at this match and showing their admiration for both men. Jericho just barely keeps his arm from hitting the mat. Jericho is now reaching with all his might for the ropes, and he is squirming over towards the rope, he’s almost there…

Bischoff: HE GOT IT! Aries has to break the hold

Jericho reaches the ropes and the ref counts for Aries to break the hold, and the crowd continues to cheer in an uproar. Aries finally breaks the hold and rolls away from Jericho, as Jericho is down and not moving on the ground. Aries sits up and slams the mat and grabs his hair as he doesn’t know what to do.

JR: Aries may be frustrated that Jericho was able to reach the ropes, but Jericho isn’t moving. Aries needs to stay on top of Jericho. Jericho isn’t moving well, if Aries can capitalize he may be able to finish him off.

Aries finally gets up, and drags a limp Jericho into the middle of the ring. Aries then hops on the ropes…

JR: I think Aries may be looking for a springboard moonsault of his own

Bischoff: No! Jericho got his knees up as well.

JR: How? What a fighter this champion is, he is not losing his title if he can help it

Aries hits Jericho’s knees and bounces up and into the corner. Jericho slowly crawls to the ropes and uses them to prop himself up. Jericho almost collapses but uses the turnbuckle to keep himself up. Jericho catches, his breath, and when he looks up…

JR: IED! IED! Aries caught him! Jericho just fell limp to the ground

Aries catches Jericho with the IED. And Jericho falls to the ground. Aries rolls Jericho onto his back and Aries crawls to the apron. Aries then stands up slowly, and begins to try and climb the turnbuckle. Aries climbs the turnbuckle very slowly as he is injured, but he gets to the top. Aries stands up and tries to catch his balance, and he does…

JR: Aries is calling for it

Aries puts his arms in the air

Bischoff: Here comes the 450 splash

Aries jumps… CODEBREAKER!

The crowd starts chanting in an uproar, “Holy Shit! Holy Shit! Holy Shit!”

JR: GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! JERICHO JUST CAUGHT ARIES WITH A CODEBREAKER! HE JUST CAUGHT HIM WITH A CODEBREAKER OFF AN ATTEMPTED 450 SPALSH!

Bischoff: Both men are down and not moving. Jericho needs to make the cover and he can retain, but he needs to cover Aries.

JR: I don’t know if either man is going to be able to get up both men are down.

Jericho and Aries lay on the mat and neither man is moving. The ref is counting… 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7… and Jericho just begins to move, he slides over, the ref reaches a count of 8, and Jericho lays his arm on top of Aries, cover…

JR: OH MY GOD! AUSTIN ARIES KICKED OUT! HE KICKED OUT! How did he do it?

The crowd can’t believe it, and they are going nuts at this match. A huge chant breaks out, “This is awesome! This is awesome!”

Bischoff: Jericho can’t believe it, and frankly I can’t either, why won’t this man stay down?

JR: Is it destiny calling Austin Aries?

Jericho can’t believe that Aries kicked out as he just lays on the ground looking up at the sky asking what it will take to beat Aries. Aries is still on the ground and hasn’t moved, as Jericho has rolled over and crawled towards the ropes. Jericho gets himself up, and goes through the ropes, to the apron, and begins to climb the turnbuckle

JR: What’s Jericho doing here? He’s going high risk.

Bischoff: He is about to finish off Aries once and for all. This is the only thing Jericho can do. Aries has withstood the Walls of Jericho. Withstood the Codebreaker, everything. Jericho needs to pull out something to beat him

Jericho climbs the turnbuckle, he slips on the second rung going up, but slowly but surely Jericho eventually makes it up. Jericho sits on the top rope as he looks at a prone Aries just lying on the ground not moving. Jericho wipes his mouth and spits, and begins to stand up. Jericho has trouble standing up and keeping his balance, but he does. Jericho then looks up for Aries and Aries lunges at the ropes and Jericho fall onto the turnbuckle

JR: Ouch. Somehow someway Aries is still fighting; this man just will not die.

Aries punches Jericho in the head, and climbs the first rung. Aries punches Jericho again, and Aries climbs to the second rung. Aries gets Jericho to stand, and grabs Jericho by the head…

JR: BRAINBUSTER! BRAINBUSTER FROM THE TOP ROPE! ARIES HAS GOT THE COVER.

JR: NEW WWE CHAMPION! NEW WWE CHAMPION! AUSTIN ARIES IS THE NEW WWE CHAMPION! THE KING OF THE RING HAS DETHRONED THE BEST IN THE WORLD!

Bischoff: While I support Jericho, that was one hell of a match, King Austin Aries, excuse me, WWE Champion Austin Aries deserved the win.

JR: He did not die, just when you thought Jericho was going to continue his reign, when he had Aries trapped in the Walls of Jericho, he found a counter. When Jericho hit a Codebreaker from the top rope, he kicked out. It was meant to be; tonight was meant to be Austin Aries’ night.

Bischoff: And he follows in the footsteps of all the other King of the Ring Winners who have gone on to become WWE Champion. Congratulations Austin Aries.

JR: And let’s commend Chris Jericho. He was a tremendous champion, he had held the title since Wrestlemania, and put up a hell of a fight. He threw everything he had at Aries and more, it just wasn’t meant to be. Well that concludes our broadcast folks. You are sure not going to want to miss RAW is WAR or Nitro this week, where we will get all the fallout from The Great American Bash. Goodnight Folks!
